Just a little useless(?) trivia and fun...

In Microsoft Windows XP, there is a cool music track hidden deep in the system directory.

C:\Windows\system32\oobe\images\

File: title.wma

The 5:24 track is titled "Windows Welcome music." If you have good speakers or headphones, the bass is pretty awesome.

This composition is actually from the Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 installation CD from 1996. Microsoft included it again in 2001 in Windows eXPerience, a.k.a. XP. You may recall that it plays automatically in the background when you install the OS for the first time.

It is rumored that this piece was composed by Brian Eno, the father of electronic Ambient Music, who wrote that famous Windows 95 start-up sound for Microsoft (using his Apple Macintosh computer).
