Now that Firefox get's more popular each day people find more 'bugs'
The next vulnerability was reported yesterday on SecurityTracker.com:
QUOTE
A spoofing vulnerability was reported in Firefox. A remote user can create HTML that, in certain cases, will spoof the status bar.
A remote user can create HTML with an A HREF link in a table, where the table is embedded within an A HREF tag. If the target user selects to save the spoofed link using the "Save Link As" feature, arbitrary content will be saved to the target user's system.
Yes! As I devout Interent Expolrer user, (Well, I used FireFox for 4 weeks), I'm happy that another secutiry flaw is found in FireFox. EVeryone that uses firefox has a false sense of secuirty that Fireox is 100% fail safe and that Internet Explorere sucks. What's really casuing the problem is not IE's coding, but rather the popularity of it. Whatever is the most popular, hackers wil target that, as firefox gets more popular, it will get more and more flaws.
I totally agree with whyme and also the spirit behind Rik's post, when he says that 'Now that Firefox get's more popular each day people find more bugs'.
The main disadvantage of IE is that it is popular and people will try to bring it down. Now that Firefox is catching up, they won't even spare it.
However, being open source, it is more open for such attacks, and on the contrary also more likely that such bugs will be fixed very soon...
Yeah thanks for this thread.actually as many users will help them locate errors and bugs that browser will improve much with its user experience.and best of all the browser is free and works on various os's. anyway if you more security tracking sites pls post them here.
Lets face it the only way to totaly protect you computer is take out our modem, cd drive, floppy drive, and usb ports. IE Or Firefox Can And Will Be Attacked.
And also while we are one the issue of false security apple computers are not safer than windows. It is that there are not that many mac users ( however there numbers are growing) out there so they have less people creating viruses for them. When the number of users grow the more attacks you will have.
Thanks Eric Drinkard
Aslo just for the records. I own a windows and a mac computer
Well, at least using firefox means that one is safe from the massive ammount of exploits that already exist for IE. Since this is a open-source project, chances are that fixes will be released faster than what MS can do.
Hmm, i cannot reproduce the problem with there example code. Can anyone else get it to work? When I click the link, the browser goes right to www.mozilla.org like its supposed to. Does 1.0.1 fix this problem?

I would just like to add to this that ric said "I wonder when mozilla will release v1.0.2", but I have Firefox v1.0.2... Screenshot of my about page is here. It is possible that his post (Mar 15 2005, 11:46 AM) was before Firefox 1.0.2 came out, but I don't think so because I thought I've had Firefox for over a month. Well anyways I support Firefox, but I agree that if it became as widely used as Internet Explorer, it would probably have just as many bug exploits. However, I believe the bugs would be fixed faster due to Firefox's open source'ness.
No, I'm pretty sure that Internet Explorer is inherently inferior to Firefox
No browser is perfect with regard to security, but Firefox comes much closer than IE. They release their source code, allowing the general public to comb it for vulnerabilities. Thanks to the devout Firefox community, these vulnerabilites are promptly reported and fixed.
What does Microsoft do to protect IE from vulnerabilities? They withhold their code. IE has no active community. Microsoft finds out about IE's vulnerabilities when hackers exploit them on a large scale. And they wait entirely too long to issue patches to fix their broken software.
IE allows third parties to install software on your computer without your permission, using activeX, unless they bothered to fix that gaping hole in security since I last checked. This thread is no victory for IE. It is merely a reminder of how trivial the flaws in Firefox are in comparison with the manifold susceptibilities of Internet Explorer.
Here are some very very useful extensions for your firefox browser...They can make your online
experience easy... 1. Session Manager Continue your browsing session even after a system crash,
or just next startup....It restores your last viewed tabs or windows. Inbuilt in Opera....Hope
FireFox will also make it inbuilt. 2. Adblock Plus Really very useful extension. Blocking almost
all annoying ads...I am very happy with this extension. With this extension, you can surf internet
without ads. And automatic updater extension Adblock Filterset is also available. It pe....
I was just wondering if anyone was sharing the same problem. And yes, I intend to send some
correspondence to see if I can get an answer as to why this happens. After installing the Download
Statusbar extension for Firefox thanks to SM's Look-Like-Chrome-with-Firefox thread, I
immediately loved how the annoying download status dialog stopped popping up with everything from
program downloads to saving pictures. Lately, I've been saving a lot of awesome pictures from
PixDaus . (I totally recommend that anyone go visit the site, as it has some inspiring and outst....
Hi again! Recently I noticed that IE and FireFox display table layouts in different ways. It is
a headache for web designer to add some compatibility for the issue. Currently I have some
problems using tables in my website. For example FireFox adds 3-4 pixels to my table width where IE
display is clean. I use some CSS mixed with HTML normal tables and want to customize my PmWiki
theme to integrate it with the rest of my website. I appreciate any help. Thank you.....
I have a serious problem on my main PC. Firefox refuses to open. It goes directly to the crash
report, listing the add-ons that failed on startup. I managed to launch it from the Run window into
Safe Mode, and again it crashed immediately, but this time only listed one add-on: MovePlayer. The
uninstall instructions I found require a Firefox capable of loading. I'm running Windows XP and
have no listing for Move in my Add/Remove Programs dialog. What's my next step?....
Hello The person who finds a solution for my problem would really be a life saver for me. I've

You could say I was a bit surprise that this didn't come to mind in terms of browsers mimicking
others, even though you can theme to make them look like other browsers. Thus the reason for this
topic and that is making firefox act like Chrome through a few plugins. Stealther This
extension is supposed to mimic incognito browser so now you can do all your secret evil things in
firefox now without being caught. Download Statusbar I am a big fan of this extension and
been using it for a few months now and so its benefits are very useful and you won't g....

Sometimes when I view video tutorials online and I want get pleased with the flash or mp4 I will be

How To Disable Firefox's Awesome Bar Many people are struggling to find the benefits of
the so-called Awesome Bar as one member so truthfully pointed out , the smart tag makes your
viewing "illicit" sites more obvious, particularly when people are peering over as you're typing
keywords in /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
Anyway, for those of us who are too lazy to clear their history at the appropriate times, there are
two steps to disabling its function entirely: Type about:config into the locat....
I was only recently made aware of the release of Firefox 3, having not been notified by Firefox, and
problems with my internet connection that caused Trap17 and similar websites to slow to snails-pace,
so I ended up missing the download day and haven't got it yet. The thing is though, I've
been hearing a lot of negative press about it. I know that there was concern that Firefox would
break Flash support a while ago, which was fixed, and I hear it's kind of restrictive as to
downloading addons and junk. Now, I did actually test Firefox 3 Beta 5, and my only ....
No seriously, I've been using Firefox since 0.x releases. I loved it. Every release, despite
having no huge features, was a great update. Version 3, however, totally messes everything up. Its
default interface is ugly. And no Home button, really ??? (ps. I kno i can drag it back from the
bookmarks toolbar but still, its stupid). The address bar search thing. I liked the concept, but I
am so used to the old way, this actually distracts me, I don't want to search my history
everytime I type a new address. Plus the slide out is huge now making the whole thing feel t....
You can access your FireFox cache files by typing this "about:cache?device=disk" into your FF URL
bar There is the cache directory will tell you the directory in which cache is stored, this is not
IE and you'll not be able to browse by going to that directory, because its in encrypted form.
If you want to browse your cache, you're in the page! The about:cache?device=disk is the
disk cache page! browse around in here. This is completely different to what is temporary
internet files in IE. Use the quick find function by pressing / (forward slash) an....

I have had a go at making a website using CSS to dictate the layout (no tables used) and it works

Well since Fire fox got updated and I have got the universal package browser for web design I
thought why not share it to those who do not know about these tools so here we go. I will explain
each tool and what it is used for and then give you the simple instructions on where to get it and
where to find it. First download Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.h...&lang=en-US
then install it and your set from there, Now for the plug-ins and add-ons. ColorZilla What
this program does is that once you select it a small ink dropper icon will show up and ....
Ok first of all, i have read through all the Firefox tune-up tutorials on the site, and none of them
have mentioned on how to make Firefox load faster like IE. So i thought i should make a easy
tutorial on it. REAL EASY WAY: Download Firetune: FIRETUNE And you will know what to do,
just muck around with the software’s settings. COMPLICATED BUT TECHNICAL WAY: And second of
all, all those who are still using IE (Microsoft's infamous Internet Explorer) get Firefox. Why
you may ask, read this: FIREFOX vs. IE . Have you ever noticed on how fast IE lo....
I have problems with both IE and Firefox. IE always crashes or freezes on me all the time. When I
can actually use it, it never displays flash. Like if somone has a flash animation in their banner
it just shows a still picture. I went into the internet options and enabled flahs and stuff and it
doesn't show the animation. I even got the newest version of Flash. Firefox doesn't crash as
much as IE but it does from time to time. I have ran spyware and virus software and nothing comes
up. I dunno what the problem is. Also, whenever I download something on IE or Fire....

Hey guys, Lemme know what you think abou the Mozilla Firefox browser. I personally think it out
runs Microsoft Internet Explorer mainly cos of the convenience of having all the windows in one main

I see as firefox as my main choice but its really up to you on what you choose: Firefox is an
open-source (Wired mag) Internet browser, thought up by a 18 year old (completed when 19) after many
frustrations with Internet explorer. It has a built in pop up blocker that has never once fail me,
and is 100% skinnable. It includes TABS, which is a fature that lets you see more than one page in
one window. Because of its new scent, noone has bagan to look for a way to deliver viruses thrrough
the browser. It has promoted its service by Spreadfirefox.com, which gives of webba....
