i have seen my bandwidth usage is going up around 20mb a day is this normal. How do i stop it from going up so fast becuase its going to go over 500mb. I have a shoutbox installed is that whats doing it.
a shoutbox normally has a refresh tag that automatically refreshes it and if the site is having heavy traffic each refresh it is reloading information also if your site does store graphics in a person's cached due to settings they have set that also uses bandwidth having to redownload the graphics each time instead of pulling them from the cache.
shoutbox is probably biggest causer of raised bandwidth though
A link to your website would help Maybe one could look at screenshots of statistics related to the kind of traffic you get? Besides, do you have a fair idea of how active your shoutbox is? If you do, can you share it with us?
ok i can confirm it was my shoutbox know. It was going up alot of mb for each shout. Then each time a new member came on it would do it aswell. Like in the couple days of having it installed it when up 100mb from 5 shouts. Is there anything i can do so it wont go up as high will using the shoutbox.
If possible, try disabling the auto-refresh feature for the shoutbox. Only get the new shouts when the entire page refreshes. This should greatly reduce your total bandwidth if you got alot of members using your site or forum.
I was actually wondering how can a small shoutbox can actually take much bandwidth. I do have shoutbox in my site, and users who choose to participate in the shoutbox are more or less the same.
My suggestion is : don't disable the auto-refresh, but you can increase the timer to more than one minute. Auto-refresh is such a cool function for shoutbox, because everyone don't feel like keep refreshing the shoutbox.
ok i will try that out. I hope it works out. I will post back and let you guys know if it works. It must be something though becuase it only had like 5 shouts in the shoutbox.
Your thinking about how many shouts are happening, this isn't it. What they are talking about above, is if someone is just broswing your site with the shoutbox, then even though there not using the shoutbox, the auto-refresh is still happening. Now this shouldn't matter if you have a plain text based shoutbox, but most of have graphics, and have to drawn scripts, information with is what using your bandwith.
A suggestion further up the page was about the cache, this is also another way to lower the bandwith, if you have set images throughout your site, that dont change for months then maybe then this could be of use. Also, do you have alot of images on your site.
Do you know if you have the Shoutbox, like the one here [D2]. Because I have it, and my bandwith is low compared what you are saying. I have auto-refresh enabled, and do you offer some downloads on your board?? Because that knocks up bandwith so easly. And Q's keep us updated.
I was earlier on the basic plan at trap17. This month I ran out of bandwith on he 13th of this
month. I then decided to upgrade my account. I filed an application and was approved by the admin.
I went to http://www.trap17.com/process/ as I was told in the email and upgraded my account
successfully. But my site www.angadsodhi.com still shows the message 'Bandwidth Limit
Exceeded'. Won't the upgrade take place this month?? Will I have to wait till Jan?....
On my forum it says that I have a 2mb upload limited. Apparently this is host related? I was
wondering if it is ok to have this increased? And if so, how would I go about increasing it? ....
In my CPanel, the bandwidth counter is constantly at 0, it never changes. I can never see how much
bandwidth I've used this month. My awstats never work also, so i have no idea how much traffic
is coming through my site. Does anyone know how I can fix my bandwidth counter? Thanks.....
i have just download d-22 shoutbox for my ipb forum, i flowed the instructions exactly and it
installed. but when i type something into the field and click shout nothing happens. i have
reinstalled it, gone to the d-scripting website and no-one can fix it but it does work because it is

Currently my cpanel bandwidth is not counting anything! And while I am quite happy to keep this
option... (unlimited bandwidth) I have a feeling that bandwidth IS getting registered somewhere, but

I noticed after my first 2 posts that there was a 10 credit limit per post, what confirmed it was

I have WordPress installed in my site. And I know the default memory-limit is 8 mb. What I would
like to know is how do I find out how much memory I am using and which process is using the most
amount of memory. Apparently, WordPress is consuming a lot of resources and when I tried adding a
new plugin to my site, they gave me an error saying that I have exceeded my memory limit of 8mb. Is
there a possibility for Trap17 to increase it to 16 mb? I am running very few plugins, and I

Hi, I have already upgraded to the default hosting but i have problem. Although i am really very
happy with what i am provided with, but i have two domains instead of one. The one i have registered
the account with is jibnet.net but i have another domain too. When i tried to add an Add-on Domain
it said that i cant add any add-on domains since the number of add-on domains allowed for my account

Hello, I have received mails during this weeek telling me that my website had reached 80% of its
bandwidth limit. But Iīve checked it on cpanel and my stats are right now 813.99 / 5000 MB... and
Iīm working these days on the site, constantly uploading and testing things so I suppose that
normally I wouldnīt use as much. But anyway itīs not near the limit and itīs definitely not around

I was wondering what happens when your site used up all its bandwidth? How long does it take for
the bandwidth to reset and start all over again? Is it monthly?....
When i check my bandwidth meter each day, it says zero. Then some days it automatically jumps up to
500megs and then after another week to 700 megs and so on. Why doesn't it update as I go. I
never know how much bandwidth I've used. (is there a way we can upgrade our bandwidth?)....
Yesterday, my disk usage was 7mb. Today, it's 10mb. Why did it go up by 3mb overnight? I
didn't upload any more files, nor did I get ANY hits. Why is my disk usage so high anyway? In

Hi: I am looking at my stats today, and I see a sudden surge in my bandwidth usage. I am
concerned, because I have used over a third of the monthly alottment. It seems like something
whacky is going on, but I don't know what to do. The number of unique visits has not
dramatically increased. However, the number of page views is abnormally high. Way too high and out
of porportion for the number of unique visits. For example, on October 3 I had 28,193 page views.

I'm just wondering how bandwidth of my package is related to the loading time of my site? I am
around the 300+ MB mark out of my 5GB allocated bandwidth, and I noticed that recently my site has
started to lag really badly in load time. Wondering if it's got anything to do with the amount
of bandwidth I'm using, although I'm not even halfway to using it up. Should I be expecting
the loading speed to slow down as more bandwidth is used? And if I should, is it normal for it to
lag so badly at just the 300MB mark? Just wondering.....
