Open house? I suppose that a website is not really ready for the "Open house" until everything is in place. I want to say that this is more of a "Welcome to the building project.... I'm the site foreman... don't trip over any of that HTML".

As for now, I plan to allow people to register as editors. I really don't know how to control this - I should also try to get some professional quality authors to contribute. Could you imagine if I could get Bill Maher to write an article on the subject of political apathy, or anti-corporate farming.
I have been browsing around for some quality environmental RSS feeds - for News pages on various topics. If you have any recommendations, please pass on the RSS info.
Registration is FREE - for now
I plan to start charging for registered subscriptions in a couple months. Even though we'd still allow anybody to subscribe to our "Tips newsletters", the benefits of registration will be valued by the additional rights and privledges (like voting and competing in Banner competition, submitting directory links, most importantly - having more of a voice than anonymous users).
The idea behind the banner competition would be that registered users could submit a banner in each size category (optional), and vote for monthly winners. Those winning banners would be used to promote our community in the ads we place across the internet. The winners would have the pride of having created the ad for whichever month. Hopefully, I could track stats - to allow users to view the actual clicks from each banner type. At the very least, we would keep a monthly of the winners.
I know somebody who potentially wants to collaborate already (friend websites ~ swap content ~ cross promote). His website is all about alternative fuels - with a focus on bio-diesel.

I think this should be easy for someone experienced, but I have never done something similar, so I
need a bit of guidance. I have a mini-site under a subdomain that entirelly relies on dynamic URIs.

care of retrieving the appropriate content from both the database and some include files, and
everything is working fine. Only that these URIs look quite ugly on any visitor's....
I tried this nice tool to convert some movies to rmvb format and they work great. You can find the
software here: http://www.freewarefiles.com/ Not sure if it supports direct rip of DVD's but
it definitely supports a lot of video format. It can also convert some non-Nokia 770 playable rmvb
files to playable ones. Anyways, enjoy.....

Oil price is on the rise... so why not going a bit lighter and "drop off" a few things when we fly?
certainly a few billions (?) are spent every year to lift up all those ice cubes people enjoy while
flying around... so why not cut them to a minimum or cut them at all? This is one of the latest
news I've heard about airlines cutting on their 'fringe' services, after starting to
charge for soft drinks, water etc. over the past few years... now I don't think cutting on water
is such a nice behavior, as passengers are deprived the right to take their own wa....
Hi all, I have a problem with my wife and the postman..........no, I didn't mean to
say that, I mean I have a problem with how to work out the best way of charging my customers a fair
postage. Here is the problem; on my website I sell books and our wonderful happy chappies at the
Royal Mail have decided that not only have we got to weigh the book we now have to measure the

Hello Guys, I am working on an application. It is such that there are 2 list boxes or combo boxes.
One is Labeled Departure and the other is labeled Destination. The boxes contain various states in
America and each state has its unique feature of distances. The difference of the distances has to

I am now running on Windows XP. I'm confused whether to use and install Windows Updates or not.
My friends and some local IT support said that I do not need them. But many tech site suggests them
to be installed. Here is my situation : I only use this PC to browse internet, download files,
using P2P software, play games and other activity that doesn't require internet. I never use
wireless internet, my PC is not linked to another PC (workgroup). Do I really need Windows Update at
all? Untill now, I never experienced any crash or something without those updates. ....

database on my laptop, instead checking them on a web-server which takes time.....
I would like to record some video captured by my VCR video camera to my laptop. Camera's name is

Ok, so I got my aunt's old Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop. She also gave me a wireless card with it,
but I had to promise her that I wouldn't connect to the Net until I reinstalled Windows. I
needed to open the BIOS Setup program to change the boot order of the DVD-ROM drive, but I just

Hi, my website was created with Frontpage 2003. At screen resolution 1024 * 768. Now the problem
that I am finding is people with a screen resol. 800 * 600 see the table and everything in the wrong
place and its all messed up. Is there a way to make it so the site is compatiable with all screen

I am curious as to how you get a save game off the Xbox hard drive and onto a computer. I am sure
that brienj could answer this. I am assuming by somehow browsing the network to find the Xbox hard
drive. Is there a tool needed to do this? I am assuming that the Xbox drive is hidden to normal
network browsing.....
First of all, it is important that you make sure the image you wish to export is on a transparent
layer. The transparent layer is a checkered background in photoshop. You can see this checkered
background in the image to the left. In this example, I created a quick glass icon which has
different levels of transparency. This is the image I will be exporting, whilst preserving
it's transparency. Once your image is on a transparent background, head to file > save for
web. You can only export complex transparency using the .png filetype. So from the drop down....
