Your thoughts?

I think it is pretty cool, but the games kind of lag just a little on my peice of crap 1 GHz. I dont really like the fact that you actually have to write out the scripts for simple things that they took out.

RPG Maker XP is illegal unless you buy it in japanese and translate it to english yourself... Enterbrain doesnt see profit in the rest of the world's market...

RPG Maker XP wasnt as good as RPG Maker 2003, i liked how it used Ruby Scripting, but the characters got in the way in battle, it gets kinda annoying, and the chipsets are kinda weird, i like some of the stuff it has, but its nothing to 2003 tongue.gif

I got my parents to let me buy the japanese version, and got my japanese friend to help translate it, I haven't got the new one, but I loved 2k3, why would't you like the scripting in it? When i head about it, I thought it would be the best feature.

Questions:
I have created a game using RPG Maker 2k3 then I created the .exe of it...however, after the installation i could not play the game....
What happened?
Can anyone answer?

I've tryed making a game before wink.gif

It didnt quite work out, you started it up and you couldnt see anything but the score board, and you didnt even get to pick username or anything blink.gif

I got Rpgmaker XP, and I think its pretty cool, the scripting lets you break the boundries of rm2k3 and rm2000 and I agree, they have taken out some vital stuff, no longer can I just call a command and have an inn....and you cant use AVI movies in it anymore!!, (although thats being worked on by the loyal fans of the rpg maker series)but i still kinda prefer it to the others, the character set can be ANY size, and the characters are slightly better built, no more short fat people!!

I have the Japanese version of rpg maker and I want it to be translated. I am to put 5 fonts in my default (or is there any other way) can you explain it to me how to do it please?
Here is the faqs I got with the disk


Q. I have installed the game software, but all I can see is Japanese
text and/or nonsense script, how do I sort it?

A. To get into the translated game, you need to double click the shortcut
on your desktop named "RPG Maker XP Translation". If this still brings up
the Japanese version try fully reinstalling the whole game from the disk.
If that doesnt work, there could possibly be a problem with the font
directory on your computer. The setup package automatically puts the english
font files in see:\WINDOWS\FONTS, so head over to that folder, and copy the files:

cour.Ttf
msuigothic.Ttf
sserife.Fon
SSERIFF0.FON

Put them in your default font folder (via control panel)

I think that its really good. I found it easy for beginners to manage. And good for experts. I like how it uses Ruby Scripting. Its a ver good game design program for beginners and experts.

This is wrong. There is a legal English version of RPG Maker XP. You can download a 30 day trial at download.com: http://www.download.com/RPG-Maker-XP/3000-...tml?tag=lst-0-1

You do have to pay money($60) for the full version. The illegal English version is called postiliaty knights edition, which was released when there was no English version.

Sorry for bringing this thread back up, but I noticed a bunch of people had questions/problems with the RPG Makers.

I have made a site, along with a friend of mine, based around helping people with RPG Maker 2k3/XP.

We are still in the process of getting the main site up and running, but the forums are good to go. We are still implementing some stuff to the forums, and of course are open to suggestions.
