| | I think it's great for managing my photos. I have four cameras. One is a webcam, one is my clie, one is my parent's camera, and last, my parent's digital video camera. I really like this because I can manage all my photos withought having to wait for thumbnails to load or anything. And, it intergrates with all of the other google services and tools, like gmail and desktop search. I reccomend it to everyone! |

As well, once you install Picasa it automatically becomes the default application when you transfer your pics from your digital camera/memory card to your PC. Neat, isn't it?

I have been using Picasa2 for almost a year now, and find that it is the greatest photo organizer that the world has ever seen. I believe that Google really found something there when they took over the Picasa Industry.

I recently decided to try out Picasa (yesterday, in fact) my first impresions where good, it had the typical Google clean interface, was really easy to use, it even found all of pictures I wanted it to find first time (well almost ). I like the way that it integrates with the other Google products (Gmail in particular), after plaing with it for a while I also noticed some really cool other features that made me like this product even more (mainly the ability to create colleges, screensavers and movies). Then of course there was the timeline function (which is really insanely cool). Picasa defiantely is a step up from my old picture organisation method (mainly stuff them in the 'My Pictures' folder and hope for the best. Ok so the picture editing features don't match up to say Photoshop, this product isn't photoshop, it does not even aim to be anywhere near photoshop. Photoshop is for serious (probably professional) image authors, Picasa is aimed more at the amature photographer, who just needs a quick and simple way to organise and optimize a lot of images. I must admit though since this is currently the only image organizing software I have tried I really have nothing to compare it too, so this basically wins by default (although I don't expect to find anything better)

I tried Picasa a while back, but never really got into it. The in-depth features where decent, but not flawless--which is something I expect from Google. I'd much rather prefer Photoshop or others, since they're more people-friendly and faster.

I am using Picasa 2 also, and i love it. It is by far the greatest photo management system i have ever used, however the built in editing is very poor, and not even close to an alternative to photoshop, but i think that's the idea of it. I wish it was seamlessly integrated with photoshop, that would be awesome for batch editing.

QUOTE(FearMonger13 @ Nov 2 2005, 04:26 PM) Picasa2 is pretty basic. You should try PicaJet or ACDSee 8.
For a hobbyist like arboc7, Picasa will be enough for a proper photo management software. Unless a professional photographer, PhotoShop will be best for him. What I like Picasa best is it's animations and smoothness when scrolling through images. It does have a feeling of a Vista installed though its fake. Picasa gives a very professional interface for photo management as well.. That's where I like it..

I am a new user to the Picasa tool. I recently went on vacation to the Bahamas. More specifically; Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island. Anyway I took about 275+ digital pictures using my cell phone(Samsung A900) and a Digital Camera. When I came back I needed a place to upload the photos to online and I remember I had about a gig or two on my Gmail account and figured I might be able to store photos to my account. I saw the Picasa link and figured it had something to do with pictures so this is how I stumbled onto the tool. I was amazed by the ease of use and the companion online based part of it. I've never really gotten into picture viewers/organizers but this one is a winner with me. The digital camera was not mine but borrowed from a friend and it only took minutes to setup and figure out the program and minutes later all of my photos were online and my friend's memory cards were happily empty. I recommend this program/feature. (Not sure if it's available to people without Gmail)
