So once again a weekend has past and I have not had the chance to post as much as I wanted too. Last weekend I was distracted by Megaman X8 so I wrote a review of it. Several people responded to my review so I thought I would review my distraction this weekend, a freeware paint program called paint.net. Now I am moderately computer savvy. I know my way around word, excel, and front page, but I’ve never been taught how to use photo shop or other similar programs. I’m a poor college student and to be honest most of the software on my PC is either freeware or…eh..hem…well lets just say I can’t go into detail about how I obtained them. I considered getting photo shop the same way but my computer is about 5 years old and not the best. So in the past I have used paintbrush (free with windows), or the drawing utilities in Microsoft word. About a month ago I decided I should try to find a better “paint” type program so I began to tap my freeware and other resources. I spent a day downloading some programs (free and otherwise) with a pretty good idea of what features I wanted. Layers were a must since I had no idea how to use them but knew enough to know that they were useful. I also wanted to rotate text and pictures by specific degrees (rather than simply 90, 180, etc). Lastly I wanted it to look non-intimidating since the most powerful tool I’ve ever used was paintbrush and was not ready to learn all about filters and such. Among the many programs I downloaded I found one at http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/It seemed a bunch of college students got together and made a freeware program that was just want I wanted. A free step up from paint brush that had some of the features of photo shop but not so many as to make the program un-learnable. So far I have used the program to import pictures made in other programs and layer them so that I can turn 5 pictures into one. I have also been able to create maps for my role playing game with text that angles around the land masses (well star clusters but who cares). Best of all it was totally free and not some trial period or cracked program. Its updated often and I’ve never run into any bugs. Try it out and tell me what you think. Gimp is actually the best I think. It's like Photoshop but it's totally free. Just google "gimp" to get the URL.

sadly.. it doesnt work with macs.. and guess what? i just happen to have a mac..... but if they made it capable with mac i would definetly download it

really make any standart image gallery stand out. I have worked with version 1 of the script and it
