| | I found this site: omgurl.net, it's a very simple and fast redirect site for long urls (Like secret links and stuff) that gives you www.omgurl.net/whatever, and is as simple as entering the url to be shortened and the url which you want, or a random short www.omgurl.net/random url, seems rather cool

>_> You know there's a site called tinyurl.com that does the exact same thing? I'm sure there are other sites as well =P Well, at least we all have an alternative

Omgurl has one less character than Tinyurl. Thus it's one character better.

LOL, nice reasoning there. I see you just signed up for your own OMGURL then, Johnny. Think I'll do the same... Done. Very quick and simple and will save me a bit of time when typing my URL. How does it choose what the OMGURL will be?

How does it choose what the OMGURL will be? Bravenet.com has a bunch like that: clix.to/ clik.to/ trax.to/ trak.to/ embark.to/ committed.to/ destined.to/ devoted.to/ wakeup.to/ get-me.to/ continue.to/ takeoff.to/ dear.to/ slingshot.to/ There's another redirect that's better but it'll take some hunting around for me to refind it.

OMGURL does just that, and it gives you the opportunity to "register" a word after after "http://omgurl.net/" that leads to a site if no one has already registered it. jzyehoshua, those links that you mentioned...they don't produce any pop-ups, right?

Nice site! And I'm guessing it doesn't create any popups, right? I've tried some other similar services before, like urlsnip.com and urlcutter.com Personally, I don't understand why many people choose to have their websites redirected by the cjb.net when it creates an annoying top banner on their site. These shortening services are much more convenient and have less hassels involved. (plus, omgurl sounds good to the ear XD)

And yeah, cjb.net used to not put a small banner at the top. Sooner or later, they all (with the exception of trap17) give in to advertising.

I went to the site, and there are not much explanations about their service. Although an earlier post here has said that they do not have advertisements and banners, I would probably assume they will have, unless I actually signed-up with them. When I checked their news page, there was a post from the administrator saying that he had to clear ALL the URLs for a particular reason and in case you have siged-up with them you have to sign-up again. And some of the newly created OMGURLs are omgurl.com/no, omgurl.com/ge and omgurl.com/web which really made me say Oh My God! while a website manties.com has registered an omgurl.com/coreyisfat! So weird!! What's good about it though is you can change your free url anytime.
