Yours is no worse than mine. I have leftover product keys, application error logs, broken icons and useless shortcuts that were placed automatically when programs installed. But there are still quite a few useful programs on there...

When posting cluttered desktops, save it as a PNG file in Microsoft Paint. Then, go to http://imageshack.us to upload it. That way, the image will be much smaller in size.

I just did a quick count- we've got 36 icons on the desktop. Two of them are for Internet Explorer and we've never even used that browser. I really don't mind having so many, it's just kind of tough when they get moved around to suit the ever-changing desktop wallpaper.

Actually, those desktops don't look that bad. I've seen the entire screen covered with shortcuts, etc. No wonder the computer is running slow!

Files(incase you can't see) Downloads, Documents, School, Games, bots, Mapping Tools, Img Editors. Meh, there mores. My theme is Zippo btw. If you want it just PM me and I'll give you the link to the site where you can grab it.

There's 23 icons on this computer's desktop. Most of them are never even used. They're mostly for programs, and there's also some shortcuts, a folder, and a file. I think we only really use about 10 of them...I guess I probably should clean up the desktop. Then, knowing my luck, someone will want to use one of them and will complain about it being removed and they can't find it. lol

I'm not going to show a screenshot, but I have 29 icons on my desktop. I'd say I use..oh, about 2-4 of them. However, they're used occasionly, so I do keep them on there, that way I don't have to go through the Start Menu. Oh, and I have also seen a desktop that was covered in shortcuts (and I would assume that most weren't even used).

When I got saturated with homework, and shortcuts etc. My whole desktop was covered to a point where they didnt fit. I didnt have enough time to dedicate to it to clean the desktop out a little bit so what I did was right click on the desktop and clicked on show icons, and that fixed it ( for a while because the files are still there). As soon as i had time I started deleting the ones I didnt use anymore.

QUOTE(icemarle @ Jul 17 2005, 01:13 AM) ...Mine's... Sigh... See for yourself. In fact, I just fixed it, if anyone believes me. I have second thoughts about removing some icons, because I usually use most of them. I used to always have anime as wallpapers, but what's the point if I can't see the picture? So here's what I ended up with. The clutter zone. I dread seeing my desktop, so I always open up other windows lol. I'm kinda used to just opening the things I want right away, that's why I throw everything in the desktop, I guess. Do what I do, stick all the most important icons in the quick launch. It's so much easier to find things than the desktop, looks neater, and it's easy to get to even if you have programs up.

lotta laughs at you if you actually think that your desktop is that clustered. Wat the.....? Mine used to be ten times and more clustered than what you got there man. to the extent that I had to increase my screen resolution to something more than 1024x768 pixels and still, I was having problems with the stuff. At that time, I had more than 150 softwares installed in my comp (167 to be exact.....you can say that I am crazy...wont be surprised to hear that anyways) and I had more bootscreens than you ccan think of. After that, I had to convert my windows desktop to a Mac OSX desktop and then that reduced the number of icons there on the desktop. Right now, I have reformatted my C:\ partition and I havent installed back all those softwares again cos I am only installing those ones I really need. Well, from my point of view, your desktop aint clustered at all. Infact, it is quite scanty. Untill you start having problems locating icons and programs on your desktop, you will really understand what I am saying.

Linux - Why It Fails As A Desktop Operating System?
(34) Linux is becoming such a craze nowadays that not even a single day passes without one or other
distribution releasing a new version. But why is it failing so miserably in the desktop arena. The
answer lies in three reasons. 1. The plethora of distributions -

The lack of backward compatibility - I had Redhat 7.3 running. I upgraded to Redhat 9. Many
