Microsoft Publisher - A part of Microsoft Office 2003

varunone
Hello all,

I just got my hands on the Microsoft Publisher, which comes with the Microsoft Office 2003.

I feel this is the best website designing tool ... much better than Dreamwevar and the likes.

I had finished making my site in under 10mins. Also the menu options, to put on your site are very good n advance.

The best part is that it not only lets you create fully customizable sites without knowing absolutely anything about HTML, it also allows you to do other publishing tasks like making greetings, stationary, visting cards etc.

This is not an advert, but i think people should try it out.

PS : the size of the HTML site created is often more than it would be if ull code in pure HTML ... but the simplicity and features rocks.

Cheers

I agree that Publisher can be useful but I still think, for professional sites, that Dreamweaver or FrontPage is the best option. The problem with programs that don't show you the world of HTML and coding is that you never learn how a site works, so can only make basic sites using Publisher. FrontPage and Dreamweaver each offer screens where you can edit a site without HTML, similar to a word processor setup. However, whatever you are happy with, you stick with it. It will be interesting to compare a site made in Publisher with a site made in FrontPage or Dreamweaver.

My website (see below in the sig.) in done in Publisher. I really don't know anything about html (I only do Turbo Pascal at school so thats why I am programming in Delphi). Microsoft Publisher is the best for me. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have some good templets. And if you use some free scripts from the net you can really make a good website even if it will not be as good as the one made in pure html.

That website does look vey good, however you have chosen a default theme which does make your site look slightly un-professional and slightly 'normal'. Publisher is still a good way to make a website without HTML though. Well done.

Never used publisher front page publishing works just fine for me. I figure it must be the same. Front page is a very good publisher. This hosting suipports front page extensions right?

My website (see below in the sig.) in done in Publisher.

I hate to make an example of you Adrian, but to anyone considering using Publisher or any other Microsoft product to build websites, the code behind your site is THE perfect argument for NOT doing so. There's literally 100s of lines of unnecessary code on that first page.
Microsoft products make VERY BAD HTML. DON'T USE THEM!!! dry.gif
