| | Panic time. I have lost all my image thumbnails in Windows Explorer except for wmfs and bmps. Also, when working off line, iExplorer isn't showing images except for gifs. Since I use these options all the time working on graphics for web sets I design, this presents a major problem for me. I am unable to view my work to see how the coding layout is working. I am running on Windows 98 (yes I realize it is outdated but that is all I have right now) and iExplorer 6.0. iExplorer is working fine on line. I have checked all my file associations and they are in order. I have tried updating my file associations using the regsvr32.exe/i shdocvw.dll command as suggested by Microsoft.com, but even tho it tells me the update is successful, nothing changes. I tried restoring a previous set of system files using the scanreg/restore command at the dos prompt, but that failed. This is scarey people. Does anybody have any clue what the problem might be? |

Well I got the link took some time finding this answer but this post seem the most logicial, funny feeling you seen it as well, but here it goes. Person had the same problem as you and so another member listed the following links http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;191811http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;EN-US;176882http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;EN-US;178746http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;EN-US;192573now when I finish reading the post it was mention that link number 4 was the one that worked because of the IE repair tool would correct this. Also here is ome more info on the repair and how to use it as well. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/194177source http://forums.pcworld.co.nz/archive/index.php/t-32756.htmlHopefully these 6 links will be able to help you recover your images mich, but if not then I recommend that you save everything and the reinstall windows to recover the broke file that deals with the images.

Thanks Saint Michael. I had already been to all those links and none of the suggestions worked. The repair tool is meant for iExplorer 5.0 and I am running 6.0. Before I reinstalled Windows 98, I decided to give it one more old college try. The last time I updated iE I kept a copy of the setup.exe file. So I logged on line, ran the iE 6.0 setup.exe. After selecting items to reinstall, wallah, my thumbnails came back. Also, iE is now showing all image files when off line. Something must have been corrupt in iE. I don't know exactly what went wrong, but everything is working just fine now. This proves again that iE is an integral part of the whole Windows system. When it isn't working right, Windows Explorer doesn't either. I hope this is the last time I have to fiddle with iExplorer. Here is hoping I can upgrade my puter very soon. $$$

Hi , I dont know what happened but My system restarts after a few Minutes (at max an hour). Can

Windows Vista Installation Fails

Hello. I tried Installing Windows Vista Home Premium today, but when it comes to the part
of the Installation where it says "Your computer will restart several times" my computer restarts
more then 40 times, and never loads after that. After like, 10-15 minutes of it being off, I switch
it back on, and it restores to XP (Witch is good because it wouldn't start up at all). I've
tried installing this 4 times altogether, and nothing. it keeps restarting continuously more then 40
times. The only time it restarts is after the BIOS loads, when switching/restar...
Windows Xp: Explorer.exe Crashes On Certain Accounts
- (5)
I share a Windows XP computer with two friends, and we each have our own User Account on the
computer. Recently whenever my friends use the PC, they begin to have problems with it. For no
reason whatsoever, Windows Explorer will crash and close all the current folders that are open. I
went onto their User Accounts to see for myself (with permission, of course), and found that
Explorer would crash any time I right-clicked a File, and would also crash on occasion if I clicked
"File" on the Folder Window's Menu Bar with a file selected. It also happened on rare occasion...
How Many Times Do You Reinstall Windows In A Year
- There goes some useful tips about it. (19)
I reinstall (restore) windows almost every 2-3 months. What about you??? Seeing the title some would
say "I do it daily" and some others "How to reinstall?". Let's see the poll results. Linuxers,
see you in other post. Reinstalling windows is a daily chore for the students studying computers.
They have to switch a lot of softwares, compilers etc etc. Windows as we know, will not tolerate a
whole lot of (Un)installations and will ultimately slow down the whole system. This is not the case
with Linux. Just consider this, I installed Red Hat WS 3(the older version whi...

When you have to open any program you have to click "Start" "All Programs" and then choose your

do it. a) First create your folder and add the shortcuts you want to access. The f...

Windows Explorer Randomly Crashing

Windows Vista Randomly Freezing

So I just installed vista upon the almighty computer, and it worked fine for a day or less. (Bah). I
installed all my drivers and such and went on my merry way. Now all of a sudden it starts freezing
on me. It's completely random, I can find absolutely NO pattern to why it's doing this.
I've reformatted multiple times to make sure it wasn't just a bad install. I've updated
my drivers, they are ALL compatible with Vista. I've read it could be an issue with an April 06
Security update Microsoft released but I have no such update installed. Being a f...
