| | hey i just got an ipod, and i was reading around about pros/cons of the ipod. someone pointed out that the ipod is dependant on ID3 info, and not the file name.. so if i have a mp3 named "metallica - one.mp3", but it has no id3 info, then the ipod will not display a song name while im playing it..
TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT
i need a program that will go through my mp3s and look for ones that have no id3 info, and then set its id3 information to the info that is in the file name.
if anyone knows of a program like this, it would be awsome if you could hook me up |

Well not necessarily the ipod, most harddisk mp3 players (even some flash) i'll also use the zen touch as an example they use id3 tages, this is way more convenient though. Well, i'll point you in the direction of a really useful one ive been using for a while: JJ MP3 RENAMERIt's free software but it's excellent. Let's say you have files like this: 01 - Fat People - The food song.mp3 02 - Crazy People - The insanity song.mp3 You go to the bottom right box and click filename to id3 tag. Then you do the setting: *Track - *Artist - *Title. Well, depending on how the filename is. You can also just to *Artist - *Title. But first they all need to be in the same filename format before you can batch do this. I'd reccomend you use flashrenamer - it's shareware but it's really good (i'm using trial), you can batch rename a zillion files or remove any excess periods or dashes so they're all the same format - you can find and replace characters etc just research it. But, in windows if all your songs are the same artist, just select em --> right click --> properties and then summary --> advanced and type in the artist and year and album this will apply it to all of them. But then you'll have to separately do it for the songs. I still reccomend jj mp3 renamer + flashrenamer. Hope this helps you  !

I believe that you can do this renaming simply by right clicking on your music file and editing it in the properties section...

Oh sure you can do that too, but i meant if you're batch renaming or lets say you have a folder full of different artists.

and dvd to mp4 converter, however i have just one problem with it. it allows you to convert to a
number of sizes, and i have figured out that i must choose between two of them. they are displayed
as: -ipod touch mpeg-4 wide screen (720x406) and -ipod touch mpeg-4 extra (640x480) after doing
some research, i discovered that the ipod touch's screen size is actually 640x480, however
widescreen might also look better.... so which one? does anyone know?....

more with your ipod. you can play vidoes on any ipod. like the nano. you can even run the first
person shooter called iDoom on it. linux does it again, putting commercial technology to shame.

Ipod Not Working, Need Help
(20) Not sure if this is the right forum, but I didn't see anywhere else for it... Ok, my girlfriend
got a 4 GB iPod Nano about a month ago. She had about 100 songs on it and one day they just
disappeared. Her normal PC won't recognize that she has the iPod plugged in, and her
stepdad's laptop will recognize it... But after she transfers all the songs, and she unplugs the
iPod from the laptop, she loses all of her songs again... She talked to an apple guy, but they said
she needed to do a system restore on it, but they didn't tell her how... And she can't ....

My Ipod Is Randomly Skipping Songs, Losing Data,
regaining data, and freezing (23) This morning I was going to listen to some music, so I got my iPod, turned it on, and it reset (I
hadn't had it plugged in for a while). When I got to the music, it would go through half of a
song, then skip to the next. After doing this a couple times, it would just skip entire songs.
It'd skip six or seven, then do half of one, then skip six or seven more. Later I looked on the
internet for some ideas, so eventually I tried resetting it again, as instructed. This worked for a
little bit, but then it started skipping over songs again. I reset again, and it lost....
