| | Has any one heard about the new IBM think center series that allow plp to restore there system by push of a button ?
I was wondering if there is something similar for old computers/laptops ?

Hi varunone, Yup the closest thing is the "system restore" function in windows. All IBM has done is write a really big DOS batch file program that calls the system restore function thru the windows system API interface and linked the program to a "special" keyboard key. The key activates the program & voilla .. system is restored like "magic". Pretty basic programming..really. Somebody else will come out with something similar soon..I'll bet RGPHNX

Cool, So i think i can make a dos batch file or a simple program for the purpose ... that is if you are correct about the approach ... but how do i connect an external key to a internal program. I think it might have to do with the ATX technology. I'll search on it more ... until then if some one gets closer please post :-) Cheers.

connecting a key to a program is not that difficult, take a look at the microsoft 'white papers'they did it for the offive keyboard. pretty basic stuff really. I think that ibm is a great innovator, love the new 'fingerprint security feature' as well. But I am not so wild about the backup/recovery option. takes up too much space in my opinion. I am still in favor of external (cd etc) backup options. Its not such a great feature on small tablet pc's that have limited memory cpace - like the new X41

"Skymonkey" provided the answer to a similar question posed back in 2005. I now have another

Very Disappointed With Data Center Migration
What do you think? (9) I am hopping mad. I have had nothing but grief since Trap 17 moved their Data Center (DC).

Cd Drive Eject Button Problem
see inside for explanation (3) i have a old dvd burner that is very reliable. the only problem that i have is the eject button on
that thing is a little busted. i know you can right click to eject it but how can i return it(after
you put a cd you press that thing to let the cd go inside) it is an old one and you push the cd
holder like the other one i have. my question is, is there a way to program it or such. because one
burner program has an option like this and it works. but the program isnt free.....

(9) One of my friends dropped her Dell Inspiron 1501 and the computer now won't boot. On inspection,
the computer takes a long time to finish POST, then displays that it's loading Broadcom drivers,
Intel drivers, and then it displays: No OS detected. Check PXE ribbon . So I restart, check out
the BIOS, and it shows me that the computer isn't even seeing the hard drive. (I'm
personally used to a computer telling me that it can't find bootable media in this case, but I
guess newer computers, or just Dell, now tells you that an OS isn't being detected....

Series Of Unfortunate Events Book 13
(11) Well, the last book (or at least I'm assuming it will be the last) came out just about a week
ago. So far I have read about half of it and I must say it is very good. It's sad to see that
this will be the last one in the series. The Series of Unfortunate Events are one of the best series
ever. Hopefully Lemony Snicket comes out with something else. Anyways, I reccomend reading this
book, so far its good.....
Splinter Cell Series Vs. Metal Gear Solid Series

Cell over Metal Gear. Although Metal Gear came out way before Splinter Cell, and may have

Refresh Page After Back Button Hit
(11) Hi. I have a page that is dynamically build through DOM manipulation. So, when I browse outside the
page, and then click back, those dynamically created DOM objects are gone. Since I am also using JSP
/ Servlet technology, I can rebuild this page easily, which I have done. Here is my dilemma. If
the user leaves the dynamic page, then clicks back on their browser, I need the page they are going
back to to refresh. I can't figure out how to do this. I've tried using the META tag, but it

Radio Button
(4) I am trying to maintain the radio button selection on a Submit, but the form refreshes to its
default selection. BTW, After a Submit is clicked, the radio form stays visible on the top of the
screen while the query results are displayed on the bottom half of the screen (we're using an
