It is a FREE service where you could see and explore the more about different places on earth using satellite imagery, it is definitely different from Google Maps. you can also view some major buildings and structures on 3Ds. it is free they say for your personal usage and there's no need to register when you download the program to your personal computers. It is FREE, but you you want a more advanced mapping you can upgrade for Google Earth Plus (US$20) and Google Earth Pro for professional and Commercial uses (US400). You can also use it when looking for restaurants and hotels. but the minimum requirement is a broadband internet connection. but try it using a dial-up as well, let us see if it will work. it is more on graphics that's why they are requiring a faster internet connection, i guess.
This is really cool! I downloaded it and installed it, it seems to take quite a bit of my computer up when I'm going from one place to another, but the images are really good. I saw my house from a satelite view lol

You can explore the entire globe, and choose to view certain locations, such as the grand canyon, in 3d, instead of a flat picture. And yes, it's free.

I went to the Google Earth website few minutes ago to download the program (because I was not able to download it last night) and i found out that the service is temporarily closed. They are still on the Beta testing period so we can not blame them for such closure. It was probably due to some database error os crash. people may be too eager and excited to use the program/service that Google Earth's satellite cameras cannot function very well. heheheh just kidding!
