QUOTE(icemarle @ Apr 30 2005, 06:09 PM)As for me, I'd rather play than make my own MMORPG.Psh, same here. Too much work in making your own game. And you have to get players. And the only reason I'd see for making your own game vs. playing an already popular one, is the fact that you can do whatever you want in yours, which, frankly, doesn't seem all that much fun. =/I ran my own G... read more.
Hmm i dont know how much help you will get in that area, 3d graphics tools (animated also) are very expensive and somewhat difficult and complex..... You probably will also need to know how to code everything, but im getting away from the point here now arent I. Anyways, programs like that you may have trouble finding anything free. Try searching and downloading MAYA, I believe it has a free trial. There are also many others, if your one of those goobs that pirates software and downloads everything, you can get it that way I guess. There are many others you may find also, I also reccomend asking google, that guy knows everything :-p
Try "Game Maker", i think it's a freeware tool, and very good by the way.
Yeah Game maker is good, not so good at 3D games. However there is a free 3D graphic/movie/game creation tool called Blender www.blender.org it's open source, and quite heavly developed. Although very confusing, there are also lots of tutorials and resources to learn it, including but not limited to the blender manual ($40ish) and the blender game kit ($not so sure)
Just so features: Built in game engine Python scripting full ray tracing and rampshader support textures UV skins physics almost every OS you can think of! If you go to the site and read the history it explains quite a lot.
there is a program thats simply called 3D game maker and its hella easy allso you could use gamemaker (www.gamemaker.nl) wich allso features 3D stuff but yuo got to have the registered version but its pretty awsome if you get to know it it uses the GML (gamemaker language)

Creating a 3d game requires lots of time, effort, skill, and manpower. You won't be able to do it yourself, especially if you don't know anything about it. The only way you'd be able to make your own game is with a -TEAM- of people who know what to do. I don't really have any suggestions on sites... But for the hardened gamers and experienced modders, you may be disappointed with 3D Game Maker’s simplistic tendency."

Thanks for all these replies... By the way I'm near 20 and I'm making this game for my Final Year Project in my collage.. I'm making this game with a team of 3 people and a 3D and programming lecturer.. This project is not small you know... We're targeting styles like Warcraft III, World of Warcraft, Command and Conquer Generals etc... The only thing is our game is that it will be single player.. The next team after us will target on multiplayer.. So we need alot of expertise advices that's why I post this thread... Thanks for all these replies again... Keep it coming if you guys and still help...
I'm still for blender, as I have seen some of the things you can do with it. Many of it's users feel blender is just as good or better then a comercial program.
You might want to try this question at http://www.elysiun.com/ the blender forums or: http://www.3dbuzz.com/ the name kinda says it all!
I don't need 3d, but does anyone know any free MMORPG creators? I've kind of been looking for one, but with no success. Best of luck on your project, Inspiron
if your ok with it not being 3d you can go with FSO but im not giving you the files theres already too many fso's out there with newb programmers

It took forever to program, not enough people played to make it fun, and it got REALLY boring after having superpowers for a long time. Plus I got pretty bored of Graal itself. QUOTE I don't need 3d, but does anyone know any free MMORPG creators? I've kind of been looking for one, but with no success. Best of luck on your project, Inspiron Crashcore, I think that's the real programming you need. Plus, you need a server to keep the game up and running. It's much harder than an offline game, I tell you. You'll need a team for this as well. As for me, I'd rather play than make my own MMORPG.
