| | At present I am using Frontpage for designing and publishing of my website.
I just want to know what are the various pros and cons of using Frontpage while designing a website, because there are so many other editors of HTML exists.
What will be a better choice for a beginner, who knows programming in C, C++ and a little bit knowledge of HTML, Jscript, VBscript? |

I'm using frontpage too... If you use HTML programming, then it's okay.... Anyway, I like it... I tried Dreamweaver, but it didn't load the frames, images, background and almost nothing worked, and it's more advanced than frontpage... I think FrontPage is a good designer program to make easy designs...

I laugh at people using frontpage for the main reason that it is one of the worst programs you can use to design sites. Dreamweaver is the best program I think to create sites with or 1st page. But I would only use dreamweaver mx for web site creation, the other dreamweavers I think are really bad and frontpage would be better than them. At first I loved frontpage cos I had frontpage 2.0 and it was so simple and easy to learn with but then I found that as soon as I went higher than novice I was looking for more power and dreamweaver along with 1st page (1st page has a freeware version, 1st page 2000) gave me that power.

I wouldn't laugh at anyone because they were using FrontPage or DreamWeaver. I could make sites in both, but I would code the html and css by hand and validate it using the w3c validators. I would preview the pages in FireFox and Internet Explorer to make sure everything looks right in both browsers. I personally prefer DreamWeaver's "coder layout" (choose it at setup) because it gives me a nice overview of my website and code. It is very easy to open multiple files at the same time, and with the code syntax highlighting it is a breeze to create html, css, javascript, php and even more types of code. If you want to use a WYSIWYG editor to create html and css, I would choose DreamWeaver because it tends to output better code than FrontPage. At least, that was the case when I got fed up with FrontPage a couple of years ago. It is most likely that DreamWeaver's html code will give both Internet Explorer and FireFox the opportunity to display pages correctly.

Some people don't like frontpage simply because FrontPage does not make it coding W3C Compatible. Meaning that usually, only Interent Explorer can porperly veiw the site, this is a problem for those who want to target different people using different borswers.

I'm making my page with frames, and the pictures are not on trap17. When I'm using Dreamweaver, it doesn't load the frames, and it doesn't load the pictures... That's why I don't use it.

I still use Microsoft Frontpage... Yes I am bad at html and Frontpage helps me a lot... My purpose of having a website is not to show the world how good I am at web designing and html, I just want a place to publish my poems... I have tried the coffeecup html editor demo version long time ago, and it was too complicating for me... Frontpage makes everything simple for me...

I highly recommend that you not use frontpage, thewebsite coding is not w3 complaint, and is only meant for IE users, meaning that roughly 15 percent of the broswers out there will see a really wierd site, that won't work. I suggest that you learn CSS and XHTML, something that FrontPage sucks at doing. If you are looking for another program, I find DreamWeaver MX to be quite useful. Here are some resources you can look at when designing websites: (I use them all the time ) http://oswd.orghttp://stylegala.comhttp://cssbeauty.comhttp://cssvault.comhttp://csszengarden.comhttp://k10k.net
