Normally people work for specific seniors (who don't generally change). Freelancers work under seniors but not under any fixed ones. They basically don't have any specific office of any sort. They are hired for work by someone and they work under them for a period of time and move on to a new client.
For example; an interior designer or web designer. Hope that does clarify your understanding.
to make it easier for you
a freelancer is more expensive then a corprate worker which means theirs more money in being a freelancer buts its also harder to get jobs since most everyone as skills in every aspect of the corprate world.
Freelancer is another term for contractor in the publishing/design business except that contracts usually tend to be for quite short projects. A freelance journalist will write articles and sell them to whoever wants them. Same with freelance photographers. A freelance web designer will look for short contracts to work on. Freelancers can charge more for their work because they're not on the company's payroll and don't receive other benefits like holiday/sick pay, health insurance etc. But like actors, they only get paid when the work's there.
Freelancer term used for those who work from home.and there are no boss type strings attatched to them.
mostly web writers and designers are freelancer .they are being paid for thier hourly work.or depends on the pages or the no of words in case of writers.freelancer is work at your own pace type job.Sometime there is no time limit.
Freelancer is also a space based simulation/action/strategy game published by Microsoft some years ago. You play as a freelancer pilot in a universe divided among the germans, british, japanese and the americans. You can choose to fight, or become a trader, or a pirate etc... Its got free online play, and thus has a rather large and dedicated fan base. Its still popular among space sim fans even with games like X BTF and X2 and soon X3.
When its the internet in question, you always need to know all the meanings of different things QUOTE(mahesh2k @ May 31 2005, 01:50 AM) Freelancer term used for those who work from home.and there are no boss type strings attatched to them. mostly web writers and designers are freelancer .they are being paid for thier hourly work.or depends on the pages or the no of words in case of writers.freelancer is work at your own pace type job.Sometime there is no time limit. Freelancers don't always work from home; they'll quite often work in the offices of the company they're doing a job for. And I wouldn't say there's no time limit either. In publishing, there's always a deadline. How flexible that deadline is depends on the how big a reputation the freelancer has usually.
