i dislike .tk domain names becuase it means you cant remember specifi pages on a site as every page you go to it just says the original address of the site and that can get really annoying with sites that have forums
The dot.tk domain name is not really a domain name. It is just used as a short redirection address and is designed to be masked like a domain name. Really its just redirecting you. The dot.tk service is a decent thing to get setup if its your first time building a site and its not yet popular. The only problem with the dot.tk is that as default it puts an ad on your site, which you can get rid of but i had a hard time getting rid of it even after selecting the no promotional ad. The service overall is great for a short redirection and of course its free. You are allowed to have up to 3 free domains and you dont have any rights to them. In order for you to get the full license you must pay a monthly fee of about $10.
I would use a dot.tk domain, but there is a pop-up so its not really worth it.
All you have to do is opt out of the ads
And dundun2007 is right, all it does is load your site in a iframe... You can get a normal domain cheap, i just bought a .net from an american site, for $9, works out at £4.40, half the price of them over here in the UK, and cheaper than .uk domains

Oh yeah... .TK and .CO.SR domains are usually associated with the "the worst" websites (mostly because people are using them to redirect visitors to their unfinished personal geocities.com-based websites).
And another thing... If you use these redirecting services, you are really stuck if you are using a forum, or any webpage that uses cookies, because the cookies aren't saved! That means that forum users have to re-login every time they visit!
And the worst part of all... The www.>yoursite<.co.sr address stays in the address bar... That doesn't bother me much, but if you reload the page, the www.>yoursite<.co.sr will be reloaded, and the visitor is back to your homepage!
I used to be a user of dot tk domain. Then I stopped and now they give you a freaking gateway page! Obviously once they get alot of users they are going to change their service for the worse. I suggest buying a .com from somewhere cheap, like what I plan to do.
But hey, they pretty much did what they wanted. They got the island of Tokluho (or whatever) famous and well known.
There also is the NoIp.com domains. They give you a sub domain, but it does have popups.
There are also websites that offer you a domain name for posting at forums, just like how Trap17 offers this service. I am not to sure how it works though because my friend gives me a sub domain, as does Trap17 for their hosting.
can somebody tell me how do you "opt out the pop-up" i have o idea wha that means ut how do you do it? i need a free domain temporary...
If someone could answer this for me also I would appreciate this I have a .tk and hae the opening ad and that external links keep it on the one site. I have it now because I am low on money, and if I could just get that pop-up and opening ad off I would love it.
That's marketing for you! First they make you use the very short .tk domain name for free, and then, when your regular site visitors get used to that name, they will still go to the www.yourdomain.tk website, even if you give up on "free" domains and buy a regular .com domain!
So... The ".TK team" has "addicted" your visitors to this domain name, and is using them as an audience that will be bombarded with lot's of popups and banners!

Does someone know where I can get a free good looking domain name without ads - and supports name
servers. Until now ive found good looking domains from www.webb.se , however, they don't support

know how they work? It says that you have to have a plugin to view the domains registered from

I have found a site that registers free domains with DNS controls, URL Redirection, and site

nameservers but the amount of DNS controls is limited. There is one small and very small catch. You

If you go to freestarter.com they have a phone number you can call to get a free TLD domain name
.com, .org, .net, .info or whatever it is for businesses but I figure if you place an ad on your
