The E-mail Time Capsule - presented by Forbes.com

It's not everyday I come across a site that really perks my brain. I have heard about people's fascination with the time capsule but this was just smack in my forehead brilliant marketing strategy--basically a tactic to gather more email addresses. Yes, I am that much paranoid about my privacy tongue.gif

http://forbes.codefix.net/capsule/

This service is offering to send you whatever message you want to send in 1, 3, 5, 10 or 20 years from the day you mail it. Whoa! Come again? I don't even know if my website will last that long never-the-less have the same email address that long. I suppose I shouldn't give my domin.com email address... say, there's a gmail and yahoo account that I'm pretty sure it will last that long Now those are great services!

Give E-Mail Time Capsule a shot and see if it really sends you in the time mentioned. But at the same time see if you receive spam emails from Forbes or money market related spams.

PS what would you tell yourself if you are sending to your own address? would you care to share it with us?

I may have it send me an email in 10 years that tells me to quite screwing around with my email and get back to work.

Seriously, although it's interesting, I doubt that there's much of interest for one to tell themselves, so to speak. I have no idea what I would possibly have to send myself, except maybe a few important files or something. I'm sure that if there's something important enough to know over the course of twenty years, I'll probably remember it, or at least write it down somewhere (hoping, of course, that I don't lose the note that I wrote it down on).

Well I decided I mine as well try it to see what happens. I don't know if it will work or if I will still have my email this time next year but we will see. I told myself about what is going on this time this year at school and stuff and what I had been doing. I sort of hope it works to look back and see what happens. All I have recieved so far was a confirmation email and I confirmed it and now I wait and see.

That's a pretty cool idea. I usually write letters to myself to open in a year's time, but this is a bit different. I noticed they sent the text of the thing into my email for me to confirm. I suppose I should delete that so I'll be surprised in five years. (it was hard to decide how long I should wait)

What did I write? I talked about several of my family members, and what they have been doing lately. I mentioned my dog. And I said talked about what I did this very morning. I am going to be so embarassed in the future. At least I hope so. It wouldn't be very good if I looked back and didn't think that I had changed at all.

Well as it turns out this place held true to it's word. It's been one year since I sent myself an email and today I recieved that email in my inbox. I was kind of surprised I had forgotten about it for a while. I remembered a few months ago about it. I think it's actually pretty cool, they were still around and what not and I got to know about what I did one year ago today and what I thought back then.
