I tried using Notepad++ (search Google, I cannot recall the site) and it is a coder, but not a webdesign. It doesn't actually show you what the site will end up looking like, but it shows you colour-coded codes for your site.
Any suggestions for good webdesigners?

uhm... you are looking for WYSIWYG editors. WYSIWYG stands for "what you see is what you get"
soo try google that.

I agree, if you want to work with Dreamweaver, you could also try Go Alive from Adobe. which is equally exensive.

This website has free html editors, HTML Builder XP Lite sounds like a good one. When I had some look around, some time back, I also liked: 1st Page 2000

give it a go.

EDIT: Fixed your BBcode

My favoutite WYSIWYG HTML editor is FrontPage in MS Office XP.

It can all populate features and functions.
I like it.

This tool have ONE minus - biggg resulting html code!
But I use standard windows notepad for cutting a non-needed code.

DW is far from perfect. With it, people new to CSS build sites based solely on absolute positioning which look fine on their monitors, at their screen res and their font size, but as soon as any of those variables change, their layouts invariably break.

Dreamweaver is also really good for learning some code because after a well you get used to seeing it but even then i cannot imagine making a website with microsoft notepad wacko.gif

If you are still new to this, I would recommend starting with notepad++, or any other text editor with code highlighting, since it's the best way to learn coding.
About cheap wysiwyg editor, I think Namo webeditor is what you're looking for.

Hi there!
I use dreamweaver studio mx now, and like you- I adore it.
It is really expensive though...
Before I saved up enough to get it, I used coffee cup.
It's a pretty sweet little program and theres a coffeeftp too. Both are free. You can just go to cnet or download.com and do a search for some freeware editors. Download.com always has a ton of stuff.

Dreamweaver is really a good web designing tool...besides notepad editing code,i use to use dreamweaver.because it is powerful not only in function,it could be competent for any kind of designing.pity that i am a newbie to master it very well tongue.gif

I would recommend Dreamweaver, cause the demo I had was really good and it seemed a whole lot better than GoLive. Also,I hear that Macromedia has a lot of resources on their website for people who use their programs legally.Overall though,as tough as it may be,I would recommend trying to learn CSS and XHTML by hand coding.Hand coding helps you learn more about what you are doing and fixing problems is easier,as even with the best editors, they will spit out crappy code from time to time wink.gif.

You made a big mistake.
Dereamviewer is the worst to design site.
I hate this program, although I should use it.

Why do you say that?

Uhhh, one i tried a long time ago that worked pretty nicely was cofeecup HTML editor, might want to check it out. Otherwise, just use notepad and Internet Explorer or Firefox for previewing / debugging.
