Awesome!!! I had been waiting a long time too see more frome this little robots, ever since some person posted it here a couple of months ago. Besides, I had heard this song on the radio a few weeks ago but didnt catch the name or the artist (they mustve said it at the beginning, and I didnt listen to it from the beginning). So this thread kind of killed 2 birds with one shot for me. T... read more.
well it seems to me that you are trying to embed flash file over here...well that is not possible in this board...secondly you should have reported this by using the report button..anyways..fixed it!
Pretty sweet video. The movements of the robots is increadibly fluid, and not jerky like I expected to see. Woulda liked to see them do the Hustle or the Macarena or something though.

Yeah lol
that would be sweet but heh this was over in japan so what do you suspect?
btw mayank im sorry about not reporting i didnt notice that button there. I also closed the browser after i posted i didnt look at if it worked sry about that.
Very interesting video. The robots dance very fluid. Also, due to being robots, they are all perfectly in synce with one another.
I do have one thing I'm wondering about this though. Do you think that they dance to the music with listening censors and dance corresponding to that? Or do they pre-program a dance and then have them act it out at a certain time? Or maybe they just pre-program a dance and then they act them out when they first hear the music...
It's not what it seems. The robots obviously knew what was coming before the music even started. They could have responded to a voice command, a motion command, or even a remote/bluetooth command, but the sequence is obviously pre-coded. I have seen other movies of these robots appearing to hold an intelligent conversation with some Japanese children (in Japanese, of course - subtitles were provided), complete with realistic voices (not the monotone Stephen Hawking-voicebox-like stuff). The conversation either had to be pre-programmed, or was being supplied on the fly via some kind of remote. There is no way that robotics could go from being almost nonexistant of artificial intelligence, to having TOY robots that can dance, speak, and do most anything else a child could do on it's own. The most advanced robotics labs still haven't got further than a robotic head that can communicate and, at least partially, think on it's own (more specifically, it plays out certain needs and drives that it has), and just that robotic head needs a few computers to work - let alone having all the bodily functions, as well as the processing and such, all cramped inside the space of a little toy robot. Other "robots" are just animatronic (meaning they look and act like they are intelligent, but they are just very detailed sculptures with preprogrammed movements) and are mostly made for movie special effects, as is the case with the Phillip K. *BLEEP* Ressurected Project.
When one does not understand how something works, one tends to expect a complicated and overly-superior function than that which it really has.
By the way, if you are interested in reading more about android head projects, check out this website.
lol dude its sony... they made the psp and *BLEEP*... look at how big ipods are now they are fing skinny... its scary... next thing we know we will have an inplant ipod that holds 300 gigs thats the size of a atom...
its called science it just happens that japan does not spend its money on there army as much as we do so they have more to go towards buissnesses and so on better funds = better inventions... it could also be a learning robot... it has the capacity to listen and learn from it... but heh w/e i dont know much about this ill post later when i have more time and after i reserach this topic a bit more than i did before
Yay we can get boogie on down with a robot. lol. I've seen this on tv before. I thought it was pretty cool. But they played Japanese music. I thought they would so some kind of techno robot type music. Dissappointed but i still think they're cool.
I know theres a robot that you can put ipod in and they dance and pump music to it. Its a dog type robot with blinking colored lights. oh well. i wonder what else can they do besides dance?
So Beck has hired these little guys for his latest video for Hell Yes. They are called QRIO and sony is producing them as toys to relase in 4 years or someithng. You can check iout the video at Beck.com, just go to the videos section.
Sony also has an article about it Here They do a very similar dance routine, but it didn't look like the same routine to me.
As for them not being new technology, I really think that they are quite an advancement from any biped robot that I have seen. Both in terms of their ablilty to move smoothly and walk, and also their ability to accurately imitate human movements and dance. And I'm sure that since there are only 4 in the world that they were not easy to make.

When talking about the Honda robot, I assume you mean ASIMO, which was built back in 2000. While it has many breakthroughs in walking and interaction technology, it is a far cry from being any C-3PO. Furthermore, there are many more accurate and believeable robots (via animatronics) that are used in movies, such as Jurassic Park. Besides, the way the digital effects industry is going, it will soon be much cheaper to use 3D effects made in a computer than build real-life animatronic characters to use.
As for the QRIO robots being fluid in motion and quick to move, it may appear that way, but robots using motors will always have a slow response time. However, there have been experiments with robotic muscles that can react almost as fast as human muscles, and are about as strong. Furthermore, there have been theories concerning a new kind of artificial muscle that could react 1,000 times faster than an organic muscle, and could be much stronger, as well.
Just one that follows a black line on a white surface I think the simplest of all, yet I enjoyed making it, from CDROMs and wrecked toys, and trying to make it run faster. By the way, I don't like lego stuff, metal and screws hold a lot more rude duty, jajajaja. At least I had more fun cutting and designing.
haha well i think these guys (the robots) are sort of old, i mean they have a lot of time out there, i think i saw it by the beggining of the 2005, i also heard about the honda robot, one very competitive as well.
But well it would be great to heard from you guys if you have made a robot...
Sony patents 'real life Matrix' Obviously the news report has been hyped up to a large
extent, but this patenting is ridiculous. QUOTE The patent - based only on a theory, not on
any invention... I mean, how the hell can you patent a theory...? Does that mean I could go
off and make a patent on something currently in development and yet not fully developed and have
exclusive rights to the technology or what? And does that mean they have exclusive rights to that
technology? (I think so, but then, I'm not an expert in IP law) Anyway, this is ...
ever wondered about robots, what they can du and can't do and where the robot industry is
heading, read up this trully comprehensive and very informative set of articles. At least some good

I think robots are cool. I bought my son a robosapien, he's cool and their are people out ther
modifying them with fm audio receivers and video transmitters and hand held computers attached to
their circuit boards for increased computing power, I even saw one with a mini-blowtorch attached to
his back and it made a flamethrower from his left hand through a tube fed through his elbow into
his hand. Pretty wild. You can see what I mean here. http://home.planet.nl/~pruim006/ I also
need to add that there is another site about modifying the robosapien from one of, ...
There's a very interesting article that says that scientists have approached to programm robots
with routines that are self-aware and can interact in complex and arbitrary environments using
wireless technologies to cooperate with each others(as machines) and with other wireless networks.

I saw this on the news the other day and it just shoked me to see a robot so human like. Again Sony
shockes the world with new technology. This robot could walk, run, jump, kick a ball, walk up
stairs, dance, and even talk and ask questions. I can't belive this. Here is a link url to a
website where you can see the robot!!

I forget what they call the robots, but they have a computer screen, camera and infra-red
sensor's. The doctor sits in his office 30 miles away and can speak to his patients through this
robot and they can speak back. Just by sitting in that same seat he can control where the robot goes
and review patient history and other important documents. By keeping this method of doctory around i
think that the amount of doctors could become minimised because one doctor could serve to a whole
heap of patients through this new technology. though you would still need doctors that...
Hey has any one seen that robot that was made by the japs its a robot that can do almost anything:
pick up things with you,get up from a fall, talk ect. its a aswome robot it has the american flag on
it tho and it was made by japs thats what is strange about it /biggrin.gif' border='0'
style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /> i dont know the name about it but any one know
anything about it?...
