| | Okay so the topic is pretty straight forward. "Can you read in your dreams?"
So what brings this topic up? I heard recently that when you are asleep and in dream land, that it is supposed to be impossible for you to actually read anything intelligible ( like signs or instructions). It has something to do with the different parts of the brain and how they are functioning when you hit sleep mode. Anyways I found this really confusing because part of my problems in figuring out whether I am asleep or awake sometimes is that I can read in my sleep and it's regular words (much like I am typing and you are reading right now) as opposed to some strange gibberish.
So can you read in your dreams or are you stuck with some strange version of written dream language?

You can read in your dreams, maybe not whole books and stuff. I've read stuff in my dreams before: small things, and they were in English, too. But good luck remembering what you've read in your dreams, though. I can only remember that i've read a few words, but i can't remember which words they were.

I can read. But only short words like advertisments sign in my dreams, or maybe something a little bit longer. But usually, my dreams don't have words and anything longer become gibberish!

Given that I am not a big fan of reading , I do not read much in dreams !!! But, i do remember reading the name of a hospital once .

i can't read in my dreams...  i can't even write in them. or understand what people are saying most of the time. it's all just gibberish.

Wow this is really interesting, I've never thought about it before. xD The more I think about it though, I do remember this one specific dream that I haven't forgotten since I had it. And there was a road sign, like one you'd see for an exit on a highway, and I could read the sign perfectly clear. But that was just something with a huge font and all. Its still interesting, though. I didn't think much of reading in dreams until I saw this thread. Then again in most of my other dreams I can only read in dream gibberish of sorts. xD

Ive never noticed i love dreaming but dont do it enough still I will try to see next time i dream what i love about my dreams is they make no sense but in the dream they do!

I've read in my dreams, espcially signs and notices. I've brought this subject with a few of my friends, they all remember reading something whilst dreaming. Are you sure that scientist prove that humans can't read in their sleep?

i recently had this experience; it was about the name of a game i remembered but couldnt remember the name so the same day i had a dream where i saw and read the game's name but after a couple of days i forgot it . so yah you can read in dreams wether you'll remember what you read for a long time i'm not sure (maybe it's just me).

i tried to read my dreams , its amazing when you read a dream and every image of your dream has a connection in your real life. well dreams are givings of god, though.

Replying to GrinningKittieI most definitely read in my dreams. Lately I have been having dreams about reading e-mails... But it's the way that I normally converse with those people. Forget just reading, how about moving tables? I've moved a Ping-pong table in a lucid dream before. But yes, I remember reading signs and things when I was dreaming. I also remember visualizing a dragon in living colour.

The only things I can't read are like, books. I had a dream a while back about the fifth or sixth Harry Potter book. I had somehow gotten an advanced copy, and I couldn't read it. I just about threw a fit because I had gone to all that trouble to get it.

Remembering Your Dreams
An easy trick that really works. (10) So many people forget their dreams in the first few minutes after waking up, but there are some
tricks to keeping then if you would like to try it. It takes some practice, but it really works.
Anyway, it did for me. First of all, at night just before you go to sleep, tell yourself that you
want to remember your dream. Try to think about that as you are drifting off. Then, just as you
