Photoshop for layouts Image Ready for slices and HTML saving Notepad for converting slices to links, iframes, etc. If you are a lil rusty on HTML use this awesome free program called TSW WebEncoder. Just search google or something for it it's awesome!

When i first started i used 1stPage 2000. It comes with pre-installed scripts and has many useful features. Search for it on Google. But be warned, last time i downloaded it it came with a virus. I could use the program after Norton deleted the virus although im quite sure i downloaded it of the creators website so MAKE SURE YOU SCAN IT FOR VIRSUSES!

well notepad is the cheapest but it will do if you know html... but i would use a program like Dreamweaver or Frontpage. Or any other html editor. The easiest for someone new is too get one of those programs and then the program will do the most of the html coding.

If you are searching for a free editor, there is an awesome free editor that is available online. I don't know what I would do without it. It's called "TSW Webcoder 5," it's the newest version of the software. You can find it at: TSWare. If you want to know all the features available for this software, read about it on their site. Trust me when I say it's the best, for free software anyway... Later, J. (TS)

Hi, I programmed my first page in notepad. But Notepad is a unpowerful editor. Now is the time you have to decide between using vi or emacs. A decision which every programmer or developer has to make in his life. . Both emacs and vi are cross-platform. I mean you can use them under windows too. However i discoverd Kate the other day. It is an editor for linux in kde and is pretty cool. Good luck with the editor choose.

If you want to learn the hard way just read html e-books and write your html code or scripts in notepad or win32pad or stylepad , this way you'll learn much more but is more harder. If you don't want to paid for nothing related to webdesign software: The best for me is frontapage 2002, but... download this: for css - topstyle lite for html - coffecup html editor ; hotdog ; wysiwyg editors (what you see is what you get) they are almost all free and most of them are good, and much more. If you want any of them just email me and i will send it to you. Carpe diem.

And since it is not NICE to work without any prove. Here are mine: Mozilla: IE: w3c Validation report of your site I guess IE isn't using standards and it is ignoring them. ALso FrontPage does that.

Erm, I know I am only amateur in webdesign. But thankfully I have had good teacher in that. Important rule is to check site from 800*600 resolution and up. Check it with the most popular browser Firefox, Opera and IE. Check validation with W3C. Have U done that Odomike?

QUOTE(rvovk @ Oct 15 2004, 12:25 PM) I agree on this with PBrugge. TSW is nice free editor. I also recommend DreamWeaver, for something like defining RECT AREA for URLs in pictures and images. FrontPage gives W3C unverified code, which can then have problems in browsers like Opera, Quanta and Mozilla.
On the other hand we have Internet Exporer which is not using HTML standard and others do, Mozilla, Opera, Quanta.
Really sad MicroSoft isn't using standards, I guess reason is Micro$$$oft. Now i can see that some people around here dont like the name MicroSoft. Well i like them and all their products. Their products are ok for me
