Recently I've been getting sick of connecting to so many accounts on so many different clients. It's troublesome to maintain so many accounts/programs. I liked using Trillian for a while but it took too much processor memory and it can't connect to Skype or Googletalk (which I haven't downloaded, but will do so when I find a suitable Adiumlike program). Does anyone know of an IM client which supports all the major IM protocols? That would be MSN, Yahoo, AIM, Jabber/Google (well, Skype too but I guess it's optional). I've looked around the place, so far, Psi and Gaim look good. But can Psi connect to the abovementioned IM networks? Of course I'm going to miss the irritating winks and emoticons with which I use to annoy people and oh yes, the nudges. Love those. But for the sake of convenience... So what programs do you recommend? Would love to hear them! Oh and why you recommend them, of course (beginning to sound like an essay question ).

Well, being that I'm getting kinda sick of Trillian too, I decided to take a look around sourceforge and see what I could come up with. And I did find two programs that look like they may fit our need. Eclipse PluginAnd KopeteI checked out both and it appears that neither mentioned Skype, but Kopete seems to include all of the other protocols that you mentioned you were interested in. I have not used either, I'm thinking of giving Kopete a try, so I can't really reccomend either one for any specific reasons. I was poking around to see what I could find, and thought you might be interested.

Hey dodger did you ever try either of those. I'm curious as to weather they are good or not, but too lazy to try myself.

No, 'coz I've been lazy too!! Perhaps I'll cancel my yahoo and aim accounts and just stick to msn, skype and googletalk. I haven't quite decided.

Hmm, how can I word this post to give some answers but encourage all of you to go out and find out some answers for yourself! Well, how about this, I used trillian for a long time before google talk came along and I needed to connect to jabber. Of course, trillian doesn't allow jabber in the free version so I started looking around and gaim was my first find: click here for gaimI quickly forgot about trillian. The only thing that I miss is the option for multiple users, but with multiple user accounts on a winXP computer it shouldn't be too much of an issue. The other bonus is that, for some reason, proxied IRC connections actually work for me in gaim but I could never get them to work in trillian. Of course now I'm moving to mIRC for IRC, but that's a different story. As for the smilies issue, well, I think I will let you discover that answer for yourself.

I used Miranda, when using Windows, it supports nearly ever protocal you can think of and there are many plugins. Another advantage is that it uses much less resources than even one of the other clients alone! http://www.miranda-im.org/wischi

I am a end-user from HongKong, I think Digsby (freeware) is suitable for Windows user, and you can add your I'm/email account, such as AIM, MSN, Yahoo, G-talk, ICQ, Jabber & Facebook chat, also the email notifier is quick as other same kind of program. Also a beta freeware "Orgoo", which is much looking great than Digsby, but you need to leave your email contact, because it is still in the personal beta launch, may be will invite you later by email.

5 Best IM appsI thought you might find that link interesting, lifehacker discuses and compared the 5 most popular programs for IM. Personally I think Adium is just about perfect 99% customizable, fast, compact, growl integration...but if your on a windows machine Digsby is what I would recommend all though I think it's still in beta...all though I find beta software usually the best of the software world. (e.i. webkit and firefox 3 beta 5)

Windows Xp
Removed (11) I read yesterday that Microsoft will remove Windows XP from store shelves in June 2008, and, will
discontinue support for older versions all together. I like Xp over Vista , I tested both myself,
Vista uses too many resources, I even have 4 Gig of RAM and I could tell it was still "Laggy and
slow" compared to XP or 2000 for that matters. What is your opinion? This website keeps up on

(2) Just finished installing Xubutnu 6.06 Dapper Drake in Microsoft Virtual PC 2007., so I can have a
linux Web Server. Xubuntu runs pretty well with 512mb ram out of my 1.5Gb and a 2.6Ghz Celeron.

Ten Windows Password Myths
I was surprised by a few of these myself (7) Even today passwords play a central role in system security. Here are ten myths of passwords with
using Windows: QUOTE Myth #1: My Password Hashes Are Safe When Using NTLMv2 QUOTE Many
readers will be familiar with the weaknesses in LanManager (LM) password hashes that made L0phtcrack
so popular. NTLM made hashes somewhat stronger by using a longer hash and allowing both upper and
lower-case letters. NTLMv2 made even more advances by computing a 128-bit key space and using
separate keys for message integrity and confidentiality. It also uses the HMAC-MD5 alg....

Steve Jobs Bets For Windows Xp On Apple Hardware
It is the end of the Tiger and similar Mac OSes?, No, just business... (3) You knew it was coming and its now true. Apple will soon offer Windows XP support on Macintosh

beta form, and allows Windows XP to run on Intel-powered Macs. "Apple has no desire or plan to sell
or support Windows, but many customers have expressed their interest to run Windows on Apple's
superior hardware, now that we use Intel processors," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice
president of worldwide product marketing. " We think Boot Camp makes the Mac even....

Windows Xp Update Starts To Weed Out Pirate Keys
