Welcome everyone to the 2005 Trap Awards!!! Hosted by yours truly, Plenoptic. What happens at the Trap Awards? Well here we are going to be recognizing those here at Trap for what they do. The awards include
Best Admin: (20) Best Mod: (20) Best Member: (20) Best Designer: ((15) MVP(Most Valuable Poster): (20) Best Programmer: (15) Most Active: (10) The Comedian: (10)
These are the awards so far. Everyone will recieve a tag with their name and the award as well as the amount of hosting credits in parentheses from me. The explanation for these awards are below.
Best Admin - The admin that helps the most and is the most reliable, is on a lot and does a lot to contribute here at Trap. Best Mod - (replace admin with mod in last sentence) Best Member - (replace admin with member) Best Designer - Whoever you think makes the best sigs, templates, wallpapers, and whatever else has been displayed, and is helpful to those who aren't the best. MVP - Any member, or staff that posts good quality posts to help explain anything that has to do with Trap17 rules and what not. Best Programmer - Whoever you think is the best at coding web sites, and what not and is helpful to those who aren't Most Active - Basically, who lives here all day and night The Comedian - Who makes you laugh when you are down, or just makes your day brighter or just makes you smile period.
Right now I am taking Nominations for the following awards - Best Member, Best Designer, MVP, Best Programmer, Most Active, The Comedian
All mods and admins are open for these awards. I am trying to think of a way to open this to all non hosted members as well, thinking of something I can reward them with instead of credits. If you have any suggestions please tell me. Make all nominations here and if you don't know who to nominate for one of the catergories then just do it on the ones you do know. More will be added to this later on. A person must have two people nominate them in order to be in for the voting. Nominations end January 5th. Once everyone has been nominated I will have a poll set up on my site with email submissions so I can see who will win. No set date will be up for the deadline of voting until nominations are through. Good Luck!

The Comedian: Saint-Michael & Becca
This is an obvious choice most everyone knows who I am in the forums and on IM's. Of Course Becca Rivals me sometimes but I can share this award. For I am King of the Forums SPAM SPAM!!!
Best Admin: (20) Buffalohelp, I didn't consider Opaque because he is a shoe-in for the Internet's Best Owner Award...
Best Mod: (20) All of them are here to help and so selecting any ONE is quite a challenge... I'll abstain.
Best Member: (20) all around : St Mike. As recognized as any one member, active all over the place, put lots of effort into the gfx site.
Best Designer: ((15)(Since am more interested in the Web Site Design aspect, I'll base my vote on Site Design rather than Graphic Design) Snlildude's site is the one I am impressed with as a member's site, but there are lots of other's that I haven't seen. Tyssen's design work is really good for the sites he has worked on, check out his portfolio of work, I'll say Tyssen for this one.
MVP(Most Valuable Poster): (20)Inspiron has impressed me quite a bit in this category. As has Avalon. Both of them offer really good advise when they post and rarely is there even any suggestion of Spam, Spam, Spam... on their postings. Of course, these are only Nomination suggestions. There are a hundred good posters here. Any one of them could get this award
Best Programmer: (15)Kvarnerexpress always seems to be testing the limits and challanging others with his questions. Spectre is good, too. Always seems to have a good answer for the programming end of things.
Most Active: (10)Plenoptic seems to here mornings and evenings everyday... except for the Mods, probably the most active (especially when you consider the Shoutbox) and very helpful to others.
The Comedian: (10) What, like there is any doubt??? Saint Mike, of course.
lol Why did you take me out of the Best Member but not the others lol Anyway, the only reason why I don't have nominations for Best Admin/Mod is because I am gonna have voting for all of them on there. As for the Best Member I can't put everyone on there so I just gonna have people vote. I am still trying to decide what I could do for non hosted members so I can open it up to them.
Best Admin: Buffalo is by far the best admin besides OpaQue, but naturally because he is the owner here, I am not sure if he is included in this.
Best Mod: Mayank or Jlhaslip
Best Member: I would say plenoptic, but I know he can't award himself , so I go with,.... Saint Michael
Best Designer: A toss up between a few good guys, but I say Saint Michael again.
MVP(Most Valuable Poster): I would have to say Plenoptic, but I go with Buffalohelp
Best Programmer: I have no idea but I would say anywone who is most active in the programming area
Most Active: Plen again, but I will go with Jlhaslip or Mayank or SM.
The Comedian: Saint Michael again. Hehe. You can see who I like the most

Best Admin - So so hard to decide. If it's not for OpaQue, then trap17 would not have been alive. NilsC (the admin who was active during the first half of '05) was pretty good, but I just cannot choose between OpaQue, NilsC, and Buffalo. Best Mod - Hard to decide. Well, here it is the close of my second year with Trap 17. Seems like only last month I was
lured over here from Asta Host by JLHaslip. Actually it was on 5th January 2006 and 2 days later I
got my hosting approved. I have really enjoyed my time on the forum, all the support I have
received from so many members, greeting new members as they join and introduce themselves, helping
out whenever I can (which is seldom in the tech department, since I am not extremely computer or
graphics literate, but I do my best), giving opinions on subjects I may have a little mo....
Well almost two days ago I stumbled across Flickr and decided that since I've seen it before and
I had the time, I would join. Y'know what? It's great! Note Flickr relies on a yahoo
account! if you already have a yahoo email, thats great! all you'll have to do is choose
a username and your'e away.. if not it's still pretty easy (contrary to popular opinion
/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":lol:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />) This made
me remember the Xisto effort on a Myspace & Orkut that never really took off. We....
Well I just installed a mod, and it said you must have an Apache Server or something. SO does trap
use an Apache Server and if not is there anyway we can since it says its free....
Just was looking at the phpinfo for the Hosted Accounts and do we really have PHP Version 5.1.6?
When did that start? Now we can make use of all the nice stuff in php5. OOPS and the Mysql stuff

I was wondering if i could somehow transfer some of my credits from my Trap 17 account to my Asta
host account because i have gained many credits here at Trap 17 and i am having a hard time gaining
that many credits there.I just want to transfer maybe a months worth of credits (30 credits) And
thats it. I have been very busy lately and it's hard to post on both forums and post enough to
gain a good amoun of credits. If it's not even possible that's ok. Thanks anyways. P.S.

this is just a really quick question i was redaing some psots and it got me thinking, trap 17 has to
be hosted somewhere and if its in mans shed then thats fine, but really how much space does trap 17
take up with hosting account and without hosting accounts, then how much abdnwidth a month do they
use? and then how big is the my sql data base with all of our hsoting credits and accounts on, wow
thats gotta be a lot, so i was wondering if admin would tell me or not, and maybe you could setup a
page at the home page to tell use some if this information, thanks dudes and ....
Ok i just downloaded TSW Webcoder 2005 and i need to connect to my MySql databases through TSW

I have just requested the domain change and they have granted it to me. The problem is that my it
paginates web I have it in a subdominio type index.xxxx.trap17.com instead xxxx.trap17.com. How I
make for translate the web that I have created in the subdominio to the new domain that I will add?

ok, I was thinking, what if we had a signature system that linked to a page (like
'signature.php') on our trap17 website or something. This way, we can include javascript,
because I have a sig rotator on mine: Http://www.psychdesigns.net/signature.php I think that
this would be great, or mabie just let us have php in our signatures, so we can go CODE

for every forum site in a few lines of code. Tell me what you think.......

trap17 offers, it is great! but i still don't understand all the archives in there, what are
.fantastico, .htpasswds, and some contents of that folders like _vti_bin, _vti_log, etc... Please
someone tell me what are they, and how they work or at last a suggestion on how to begin.

Hi, I uploaded some data to my ftp server and i would to bring the possibility of downloading it to
some friends of me. But i am not able to access my ftp sever with a browser (e.g. Firefox). I tried:
ftp://anonymous@mytrapname.trap17.com/ But i always get: "421 Unable to set up secure anonymous
FTP". In my FTP Manager i have the anonymous user created so i do not understad why i can not. Any
idea?....
Hallo, i have used many free hosts and this is by far teh best. I just got approved and signed in 5
min. ago and WOW WEE it is really really good! The cPanel looks absoulty amazing and everything
is tidy and orgainzed. u'd think it was an paid host but NO!. Thank you again admins and
staff of Trap 17, u guys really are teh best FREE host there is on the net. BTW: i have encountered
a couple fo scam hosts that tell u teh wrong ftp, user name,... so on... Don't use byehost.com.

Hi, I bought two domain names. I pointed one to my trap17 account root. It works perfecttly. My
doubts come while pointing the other one. I would like to point the other one to a subfolder of my
trap17 domain. For example: www.domain2.com --> should point to -->
mizako.trap17.com/domain2/ Just now i just went to CPanel/Parke Domains/ and i add there the
domain2. Now i have boths domain names pointing to the my trap17 root. Can anyone tell me how to do
to point the second one to a subfolder? Thanks in advanced.....
I joined Trap 17 a couple of months ago, I was then warned for 'spamming' - which I had done
inadvertently - since I am not an experienced 'spammer' I had no idea what it meant.
Immediately upon being told not to do it - I stopped. I had posted just a few messages anyhow and
freely admitted what I had done. Then a few days ago - I went to log on - and was told I
couldn't log on because I had 'spammed' again. Which I had NOT! I was given no
explanation - and was told I was banned for 5 ( or 7 ) days - but they left my website up ?? So - i....
