It is very simple this service, you visit the website, choose one of the dozens of popular games at the DROPDOWN CHECKBOX at the top of the website, then click the RUN button, all in the same place, then expect the page and script to load, when the activex loads, click execute, and the script will run itself, and in a few seconds or more, you will see if your pc have at least the minimum game requirements, but it also shows the recommended game requirements.

I tested my laptop to see if i could play cod 4 smoothly, and it seems so.

Remember when a message poos up to install the required activex, which is the program to check if you have the pc requirements to play the game you choosen, click install, then wait for the results to appear on the same page.

Apparently this software does not work for Linux based machines even though it has a Java Applet. I could not download the script using Ubuntu 8.10. Thought others should know.

A nice topic My is 5 for all the games as I have a lot of Ghz and load of Ram and overall a fantastic PC that has no needs in my mind for improving. But I nice site to visit if you are unsure if your pc can run the game before buying.

The activex is for internet explorer based browsers, like internet explorer, maxthon standart, maxthon classic, MyIE, et cetera, though i do not know if you can execute it with firefox, opera or anyother, but in any windows operative system case, the user just needs to open internet explorer, visit this link which should be added to bookmarks, then execute the script/activex.

I totally agree with you Dark Archer, this service would be even better if it had support for more games, though i must admit, the website has an original and extremely useful idea in practise, i mean, i can not recall nor i know of a similar website that offers this service, and for free, at no cost whatsoever, besides, the service already supports many games, all popular, but it is a problem to satisfy all visitors, that is close to impossible, but i expect the website to develop even further this service in a near future.

I remember this... SystemRequirementsLab was the sole reason why I fired up IE6 a few months ago after realizing that it uses an ActiveX control.

It would be nice if they could have this work with Firefox and other browsers.

System Requirements Lab is good. It is easy to use and I can test my computer with ease. All that is necessary is to click on the game to test for and make sure active x etc are okzy.

rayzoredge, i understand your point, and i agree that activex is an intimidating application, one we should be extremely careful to execute on windows operative systems because it can really damage the entire system on host of execution.

But, the activex control is also an advantage for internet explorer based browsers, it is like the sun java plugin or microsoft java machine, it is a plugin for windows operayive systems and its well known browser.

For protection, there are configuration settings on the internet explorer that if well configured, it can also allow the execution of activex from known and certified sources/hosts, knowing that, activex controls, if well used, are a plus, like in this case.
