| | I have a new ecs extreme motherboard with an apthlon 939 3000+ processor, with 512mb ram a new power supply and new hardrrive. I have a 128m AGP video card from a good machine. All of the itemes I am using have either come from a running system or have been tested in a working computer. My computer will turn on and I can get to cmos setup or to boot from cd, however, after about 1-2 minutes the system just shuts down. |

well in some famous words just check your bios and to see if you missed any steps in connecting them. or just call service support unless this a full customized system built from scratch.

Do you have a heat sink and fan for your processor? Or did you forget to plug that in? If there is no fan on your processor, it could shut down after a minute because of over heating. I'm not sure if you over clocked your processor either. Cause if you did, that would make the over heating problem worse. Make sure the computer has adequate cooling! It will shut down if it is overheated. Even some BIOS have an option to shut down if CPU temperature goes beyond a certain point.

Well, the possibilities i can think of are: Overheating issues Manufacture defrags Lack of power Those 3 are some possibilities that could cause your computer to reboot not long after startup.

This is a common classic problem of DIY computers... Here are the possibilities if it.. 1) Overheated - The cooler or fan is not powerful enough to cool down your processor or graphics card 2) Parts / Components disconnected

1.) try boot the computer in bios or ms-dos and running the msd to check whether it is overheat or not. 2.) check your power supply to confirm that provides enought power. 3.) replace with a older display card to see the problem will occur 4.) try twist the motherboad a little bit, sometime the motherboard might have some noise, by this way, should be clear it out. 5.) replace the ram with a single 256 or 512m ram if the ram is two pieces. - hope this help

does your pc boot into xp or does it fail ? if you go into the bios and leave it there for a few minutes does it fail ? does your motherboard bios has a section that shows the processor fan details ? if you can see the temp in the bios , what is it ? what speed is your fan running at ? if the temp getting up to 65 - 70 degrees then it is over heating. is the fan running slow or is it noisy ? did you put heatsink compound on the fan base ?

same thing happened to me. my problem was that my comuter was overhearing because the hardwere is working to har or u insalled something your systwem can't handle. I would suggest you get a better fan or just install cooling with liguids like the aienwere comuters. that is the most logican reason for the informantion you posted. I got a SmartPower fan model numbeer SL350 i think they have new and better ones and the reason i like them is they offer good hardwere for good prices.

PC recently started turning off after 1-2 minutes of operation
New System Shuts Down After Running About 1 Minute
I put together a frankenstein PC about 2 months ago:
eVGA 790i Ultra SLI - Intel 2.83Ghz Quad Yorkfield - 4GB DDR3 - SEAGATE 500GB SATA II - OCZ 700W ModXStream - Thermaltake SpinQ CPU Fan - ANTEC 900 II Case - eVGA GeForce 285 1GB DDR3 Graphics Card
It was working fine with no problems for about 2 months (killing zombies in Left 4 Dead!) up until the PC began to turn off randomly (power just cut off) while loading Vista 64bit and while in Vista after it loads up. I went into BIOS to check for over-heating, but CPU is at 28C and System is at 33C and does not shut off randomly (left it on for 2 hours without any incident). (Not over-clocked) The first time it happened was when I plugged a USB flash drive into one of the ports and it just shut off. Is my current PSU the culprit?

PC starts then shuts down after 2 seconds
New System Shuts Down After Running About 1 Minute
This is a new build-It booted and ran fine-NOT HOT. After initial checks and BIOS settings I loaded my OS...VISTA HP SP1. Then I start loading software and a few restarts then it happens-a shut down-complete to quiet and dark-no sounds of power. I started up a few times and it would run but the times got shorter and shorter. Within 20 minutes it wouldnt run for more than 3 to 5 seconds. Even now 2 days later , completely cold , it shuts down after a second or two. I've swapped graphics cards. All my fans are running and my CPU was running WELL WITHIN SPECS ! My mobo has indicator LED's and these were all green just before shut down. These are my specs:
Thermaltake SHARK case
MSI K9N2 Diamond mobo
Thermaltake Toughpower 700 watt PSU
AMD A64 X2 6400+ 3.2ghz Black
Zalman CPU COOL CNPS9900LED R
Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX w/Aluminum heatsinks
BFG 9800 GT 1gb
WD 74GB RAPTOR : O/S & related
WD 250GB 7200 rpm : everything else
Lite ON DVDRW
Lite ON DVD ROM
Pioneer BD ROM SATA
The motherboard is new , also the RAM , the CPU cooler and the graphics card. I open to any and all suggestions. Thanks for a place to hunt for answers !

My Solution
New System Shuts Down After Running About 1 Minute
My PC was shutting down and not indicating overheating (though it was overheating cause it happened a lot more when playing video) SOLUTION: Remove CPU cooling fan and heatsink Remove and reinstall CPU Reapply thermal compound Reinstall CPU cooler My Amd Socket A needed reseating, and is sensitive to heatsink placement and fan speed. The Amd Socket A heatsink is a ***** to install with zero clearance unless you remove the Power Supply. Mine needed to be seated perfectly to not overheat.

Running Bios Setup On A Dell Inspiron 8000 Laptop
How do you do it? Dell wants money to tell me (12) My aunt gave me her old laptop, and I want to reinstall Windows on it. For sarters, the DVD-ROM
drive is not first in the boot order. So I need to open the BIOS Setup program to change it. I tried
pressing about half a dozen key combos, and couldn't get it to run. I called Dell, and they gave
me some garbage, saying that I would have to pay to get help. So I come here, to ask you, how does

Pc Shuts Down After A Few Seconds
(63) PC shuts down after a few seconds
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is the
situation, about 2 weeks ago one of my computers stopped in the middle of a game and shut down. That
was it. I restarted the computer and it powered up and went into the normal startup sequence, it did
hit the BIOS screen, then powered down unexpectedly. After that it could be turned on, but then
immediately shut down, staying on no longer than about 4 seconds. The system worked flawlessly for
about 2 years before this problem. System Specs: ....
