cse-icons

| | hi friends,
I just got a suggestion to make. Admins, just see whether it would help? Since there are some topics which are made just for the sake of it and not of high interest. What I suggest is that the topic starter can be given additional credits if he/she starts a topic which if of interest to more members. This can be judged from the number of replies that are generated or by the number of topic views.
It can be set that for every 10 replies the topic owner gets certain credit points. or may be for every 20/50 views that the topic generates, the member can be awarded some credit.
This would motivate the member to start more interesting topics.
Please post your views on the suggestion. Discussion is welcome.
Cheers. |

Fair enough... I think it's a pretty good idea. I was setting up my cash mod (primitive, of course, when compared to credits system here), and I set it up so that whenever a topic is promoted to the 'popular' (or 'hot') stage (i.e., it gets more than x replies, x being a suitable number ) the topic poster gets some extra cash. I thought that was a decent idea. It'll probably nice if it's implemented here, although I'm fine with the current system as well (very poor attempt at diplomacy, I'm afraid )

Great idea cse-icons. I had thought about something similar time ago, but my english is so... err... weak that I try not to start topics (some people could not understand me properly ). But anyway, the iniciative of the user who brings out a good object of discussion should be appreciated.

QUOTE(OpaQue @ Jun 8 2005, 04:42 PM) Yup! Nice idea.. now give me the idea to code it  CODE if(user.thread.reply() < 10) { user.credits.add() = 1; } else if(user.thread.reply() >= 10) { user.credits.add() = 5; }
Something like that. But then again, I've never been on the admin side of an Invision Power Board, so I don't know what it's capable of doing and what language it uses.... Edit: Forgot the most important basic rule about programming: semi-colons end a statement

That is a very good idea cse-icons, and it would make trap17 a much more interesting place. Especially when you can expect almost every post on the forum to be a rather interesting one. So yeah if that code works, then I think it would definately benefit trap17.

also need to put a character limit. I can see posting the normal: "I used that it is not good" "kool program, thanx" "where do I get it" etc. Just the lame replies to boost credits. Granted it is a good idea, but I just see it being exploited alot.

I agree I see some really dull topics sometimes and this would really liven the forums up!

[suggestion] Allow Users To Delete Their Own Topic
Possibly only if there are no replies (4) I've had the following happen to me twice within the past few days: I struggle with a problem
for three or four hours. Eventually I give in and post asking for help. While I wait for the help
I continue working on the problem. An hour or two down the road I figure out the issue on my own.
As such, I no longer need the topic I created. I'd like to delete it so as not to waste
people's time (and clutter up the sub forum), but I don't have the privileges to do so.
Being able to delete your own topics would allow users to self moderate, and cut down on....
Suggestion: "buying" More Space
Use credits for something else as well... (5) I'm thinking of setting up a system of "buying" more webspace for your site, just like the
domain name feature. Say, if you pay 20 credits, you get another 100 MB of bandwidth for your site.
Or, if you pay 40 credits, you get 10 MB more space. What do you think? Sorry, could you change
the "buy" in the title into "buying"? It seems like I'm trying to promote a paid hosting site.

Ability For Non-hosted Members To Award Credits.
(11) As I already mentioned in the other topic, OpaQue has resolved one of the two reasons I am still
hosted, but he has yet to address the second. I would love it if non-hosted members are able to
award credits. Now I understand why it is disabled, because they gain credits faster than hosted
members, but you could put some kind of conversion tax on it so it balances out. I wouldn't
mind. I just feel like I'm wasting a credit a day on nothing. The only reason I still have my
site is so I can give out credits /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D....

Keyword Relevancy
A Suggestion (0) Keyword Relevancy Addition to Board Rules & Guidelines? I recently became aware of
the importance of composing topic titles and descriptions in a manner conductive to attracting new
members via internet search engines by fully maximizing Keyword Relevancy. As it turns out,
composing topic descriptions with the intent of attracting new members from search engines is an
“extremely high priority” at this forum, even higher than getting hits from current members viewing
the last topic list. Yet no mention of the term Keyword Relevancy (that I can find) is....
250 Credits For One Year Of Hosting Suggestion
Suggestion for new application (14) Hy peeps. That forum "Post a new topic in My Ideas, Theories, Possiblities, Innovation"
(possiblities is misspelled /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0"

Fantasico Issue / Suggestion
Addon Script (3) I do not even know what fantasico is, and I dont plan on using it, however I clicked on it in the
Cpanel and I got this message... QUOTE The server was not able to find the document
(./frontend/rvblue/fantastico/index.php) you requested. Please check the url and try again. You
might also want to report this error to your webhost. Alot of hosts offer a larger variety of
free scripts such as image galleries, blogs, and CMS.. particularily I was looking for the

A Way To Get More Space And Bw
by credits (6) OK its come to me that since people apply for hosting sights and are getting it without any problem,
so there is some BW and webspace not used by anyone atm. Why not give active members possibility to
get more BW and space? and by active i mean very active. Lets say i have a 30 credit pack. Upkeeping
that pack costs me 1 credit per day (30 per month) I can apply for another 30credit pack, but it
would cost me 60 credit and cost me another 1 credit per day (30 for this one and 30 for the
previous = 60 credits per month). Basicly you'll be getting another acount but wi....
Tutorial Index Suggestion
(5) A member (.nol) brought up an excellent point today. Index (table of content) of tutorials. An
easy way to browse what kinds of tutorials are available in Trap17--both general and GFX. The
simplest way of doing this is to generate RSS by sub-forum and then present it via Annex (for those
who do not know it's our Community page). Or, if OpaQue grants, I can include HTML code to
Tutorial Index forum post. Either way, it should be automated and updated according to RSS feed.
RSS is the easy part. What I would like for all members of Trap17 to do is think about how RS....
Limiting Max Number Of Credit Posts Suggestion?
(19) How about that Trap17 limits maximum number of posts that you can get credits for in one day? My
suggestion would be limiting posts that count for credits at 3 a day /rolleyes.gif"

don't know how to explain this idea, it's just something that came to my mind.. What do you

A Suggestion: Pm Or Email Us

Additional "life Talk" Subforums
(2) First of all, thank you for incorporating a "Home and Garden" section! This is a very timely
inclusion considering we're springing into Spring. I've mentioned this before, but I
probably should have been more specific. I haven't seen a specific Religion or
Philosophy/Spirituality sub-forum anywhere. I think someone suggested posting such content under
"Health & Fitness," but I think these topics, especially Religion, would garner greater interest
under the "Life Talk" forum. Indeed, I noticed a debate a recent debate on God had large enough
input to warr....
Gfx Section Suggestion
(8) I think posting in the Showoff thread under the GFX Section should be counted for credits. That is
probably my favorite section. I am not making this suggestion for myself but the Showoff section is
really one of the major parts of the GFX section and it doesnt even count credits. I dont want
anyone to get mad at me for making this suggestion so if you dont like it then just leave it be.....
Credits Mechanism
How does it work (9) I tried searching for this topic but the results were too vast in number to be able to go through,
so I hope someone could clear my question. Trap17 mention quality over quantity and more credits
will be awarded to the amount of quality there is in a post. However how does Trap17 define quality
in this sense? Do they have a mechanism whereby they analyse each post and then assign credits to
the user if he meets the requirement? Someone please enlighten me /wink.gif"

Credits For Clicks!
click and browsing should earn credit also. (8) Hi everyone, As from the forum details/rules/news etc, it is clear that the revenue comes from the
advertisers, opening the forum and even clicking (without posting anything)can do the job. In my
opinion credits should be awarded for Opening Page and browsing. And ofcourse QUALITY POSTING.
This way no body will be tempted to post unnecessarytopic/spam etc. Admin, please correct me if I
am mistaken. Thanks.}}....
More Credits For Your Post
(37) I think you should give us more credits on our post. The reason is I find it very difficult to com
eon here every single day and think of something new to post. Its really hard and a long procress
since you don't get credits in the forums that are easy to think of stuff to post. You have to
post a paragraph atleast just to get one credit which seems not good enough. If I want to post
something how is it possible to think of a few paraghraphs just so I can keep my hosting service?I
would like it if you raised the creditting a little bit to make it a little easeir for ....
Show Credits On All Pages
Not just the home page (11) I've always noticed that you could only view your credits by going to the home page of the
forum, but didn't really think of having it anywhere else until now. My idea is to put the
little hosting credits box on every page (maybe a slightly minimixed version of it, without all of
the "if you aren't hosted..." info), so that we can save a pageload everytime we want to check
how many credits we have.....
A Suggestion About Post
suggestion (2) hello, admin, mod and member... i got a idea because i found that there are many good topic which can
invoke member's interesting, who would like to be active here and reply those good post.so many
hot topic should be award IMO in order to promote member's enthusiasm and keep active in forum
readily and enjoyful. that so-called award is just add their credit a bit +1 or any other award
you are able to think out.there should be a fixed or pinned post to evaluate hot post and award
it,like SOTW in GFX section. we can find the most popular or hot topic per week or m....
A Suggestion To All Mods And Admins.
A suggestion. (13) Hey guys. As some of the mods may know (Jlhaslip and Mayank among others), I report a fair amount
of posts and users. And I have a suggestion, since this is how I find this stuff. If you see a new
member with under 75 posts, that has posted a topic UNDER 50-70 characters, you need to review all
of his posts. I have caught three members within two days by doing this. And I will continue to do
this. The reason is these people tend to have the nasty habit of posting consistently short posts.
And although it may seem innocent on some of the short topic posts, I soon f....
How To Sustain Hosting Credits
A guide for the members (19) I sometimes see trap17 members complaining about spending hours a day in an attempt to sustain
hosting credits. This is especially true in the reviews. It really isn't that hard. Here's
my advice on doing so efficiently. 1. The number of posts you make at trap17 doesn't determine
how many credits you receive. The staff even announced it, and it should be quite obvious, really.
Credits are determined by the content and quality of your posts. Make longer ones, I guess. 2. So
how do I sustain a nifty amount of credits? First, set a time you can post at trap17 ....
Avatar Suggestion For Admin And Mod
from members (11) I believe this is a good place to put this topic. But, i've made 2 avatars for Admins and Mods.
Encouraged by Wassie. I'm not really sure how to post images from the gallery here at Trap17
into posts, so i'll just provide a link to my gallery and hope that's sufficient

Transfer Credits
(4) Firstly I was wondering if I can hava an astahost and a trap17 host form account at the same time?

Credit Shop
people can buy stuff with credits (7) I say you should create an online store with which you can sell say, top level domains for like,
2000 points or something, get rid of ads for 3500 points, something like that. I bet lots of people
would join this program... and smaller credit things, like a small increase in disk space, or an
extra MySQL database or another subdomain... Something of that sort. Just a suggestion, and
i'm pretty sure somebody else has probably already posted something to this effect. Just wanted
to see if any moderators or higher level staff here would be interested in this kind of....
Low Credits E-mail
(4) Hi. LAtely, with all my c/w I've been doing, I've forgot to keep an eye on my
credits. Came on just now and they were at 0.33 days. I just had an idea. Could you have some kind
of auto-email if they get dangerously low. You know, not to high we're always bugged by them but
let's say, 2 days. Most people always check their e-mails when they log on so this way, everyone
will remeber. Just and idea. Thanks. ....

Credits Suggestion
This will help forum profits! (3) I suggest that you make it possible for people to buy credits. The credits should be cheaper than
actual paid hosting. I think this is a good idea becuase users can post their way to getting 10
credits, but to keep their hosting they can buy, say, 100 credits. Then 100 days later they can buy
another 100. I think this will really lead to the success of this forum. Hope I helped.....
Negative Hosting Credits Suggestion
(0) im suggesting that there should be a limit that your credits can go into the negatives. a while ago
i was really busy with school, sports, and everyday stuff. during this time, i did not have much
time to get online and i stopped going to this site for awhile. now i am back and want to get my
site back up so i can try some things. the thing is, my credits are way below zero. currently im at
-31 hosting credits. and you need 5 credits to get your site back up (i think its 5, not sure). i
was thinking that it might be an okay idea if you put a limit to how far your credits....
