| | People given a blood pressure drug known as a beta blocker to reduce heart risks before surgery were one-third more likely to die within a month and had double the risk of stroke compared with those given a dummy pill, Canadian researchers said on Monday.
Imagine, they actually decided to have a clinical trial of this use of the beta blocker drugs instead of just assuming that it would have a given beneficial effect. Imagine if they did that with all the drugs. A LOT of medical assumptions would get shattered like glass.

Internet Explore 8 Beta Two Is Out
i like it (2) well i've been waiting for this since i heard about it and after waiting so long it's out. i
can say that i'm one of the very few people that actually like internet explore and this is
about my experience with internet explorer 8 for about the past three days. installation
installing ie8 was like installing most software’s from miccrosoft, long, since my internet
connection is pretty fast downloading was quick but, since my computer is pretty slow, installing it
took about an hour and a half. sadly you have to restart the computer and if you have beta 1 in....
Ie8 Beta Launch Imminent
Internet explorer to be released in the near future (3) M icrosoft has outlined some of the improvements it has made to the reliability of Internet
Explorer 8 prior to the release of the second beta version, pencilled in for the second hald of
august. The browser's performance and recovery have been two areas of focus according to
microsoft. The company said that a great deal of work has gone into making sure IE8 is more robust
in these areas. "Most users want their browser to work, recover smoothly after a crash, and display
the web correctly. Users are not as concerned with what causes the problem, whether that be ....
Posada Will Need Surgery
posada says he will need surgery this year (0) Jorge Posada is on the Yankees active roster tonight, but not in the lineup; he is scheduled to
catch tomorrow. And he said today he will need surgery after the season to repair his labrum.
"There's no discomfort," said Posada, in the first season of a four-year, $52.4 million
contract. "Something's messed up in there (the shoulder). We're going to have to get that
fixed." Posada, a five-time All-Star, said it should be similar to surgery he had in November 2001;
he was ready for camp the following spring. Pitcher Dan Giese was optioned to Triple A t....
Dropbox
closed beta - Sign up (1) This is one of the coolest new things I've come across in a long time. Go to getdropbox.com
and watch the video that is included. It has a pretty descriptive narrative. Basically what this
software does is allow basically allows you to maintain a folder that is accessable from any
computer. Simmilar to how you can just upload a file to a website and re access it from anywhere
else. This gives it a very attractive UI and also makes it pretty simple so the not so tech savvy
parents will be able to easily upload pictures and files to you. Supposedly the tech....

Google Health Beta Service Goes Live
(1) Well it seems Google is going ahead with service even though the huge security risks that are
involved in this program. Of course, they are well aware of the problems that come with this, but
even if they got military grade security on their servers, there is far to much risk having your
medical records floating around on the internet. However, its not like they have been circulating on
the net for years through computer databases and what not, and that really surprises me that
hospitals haven't been attack or if they have, they been keeping it hush hush for years. ....

Study Abroad Or Go To College In A Foreign Country
Which to choose? (3) Hello there, Someday when I become an adult, I'd love to move to France. College would be my
first opportunity to travel to this beautiful country, but I'm unsure of which option to pick.
I could pick an American college and choose to study abroad for a semester in France or I could
attend a French college. European colleges are cheaper than American colleges, so that is a plus;
however, it costs a lot of money to commute between America and France during holidays and
vacations. Does anyone here have a suggestion on which would be a better choice for realist....

Mozilla Out With Firefox 3 Beta 4
The beta 4 version of FireFox 3 is out .. (1) QUOTE The just-released beta 4 version of Firefox 3 offers a few visible additions to the
browser. For example, the download manager has been improved, making it simpler to locate and work
with downloaded files. It's quite nice -- you can easily search through your downloads. Also,
Firefox now integrates directly with your virus scanner, and shows the scanning being done right
inside the download manager. And you can see the icon of the file you've downloaded, making it a
lot quicker to identify. The primary interface has been somewhat modified to look more....
Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 Is Out For Download
(31) Download Here It passed the Acid 2 Test, and although it did better then IE6 or IE7 in the acide
3 test 17/100 is still pretty bad. Strangely enough though, Internet explorer has destroy several
sites, such as trap when trying to post a new top, and alignment issues in yahoo and even in
part's of Microsoft's website. But to give you an actual taste I break the browser in
several key points to see what Internet Explorer 8 team need to fix before final release. Look
Nothing has change really, added some things like the rendering mode which at this p....
Phpbb3 Rc8 Released, When Will It Go Gold?
16 months after Beta 1 and its still not released! (4) Today phpBB3 RC8 was released... I am really starting to loose confidence that a GOLD release will
come! 8 Release Candidates is a little too much, it just shows that the software is extremely
buggy! I expect most of these issues came after RC6 when they did a security audit, BAD IDEA,
such an audit should have been done in Beta stages as RC's are meant to be the final if no more
bugs are found, they are supposed to be reasonably secure with only a few bug fixes, let alone a
full remake of the security system... PhpBB team, what is going on? When will it go ....
Internet Could Max Out In 2 Years, Study Says
(15) Wow that soon, I guess they should start deleting 90% of the internet then because of most of
consists of junk, porn, illegal activity, and websites that repeat themselves over and over again.
I guess though there is more to it then just that though, and this little quote says it all or
rather part of the problem we could be facing. QUOTE Internet users will create 161 exabytes of
new data this year, and this exaflood is a positive development for Internet users and businesses,
IIA says. An exabyte is 1 quintillion bytes or about 1.1 billion gigabytes. One exabyte is....
Independent Study?
(4) Is independent study that good of a thing? During the 4 years in HS I saved a lot of time to myself
by doing Geometry, Algebra I, ALgebra II, and elementary functions (precalculus) as an independent
study, thus making more space for more advanced courses like Calculus (which I took my sophomore
year) and statistics (I have this year). But is it that good of a thing? Yes, you do get the
knowledge, etc., if you are a hard worker, but it doesn't go anywhere onto your college
transcript, or anything to benefit you in the future. Currently I am enrolled in 4 AP (advanced ....

New Study Shoots More Holes In Common Beliefs About Evolution
(7) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070808/ap_on_sc/human_evolution
http://www.examiner.com/a-870971~Study_Fin..._Evolution.html In yet another case, it has been
found that species thought to have evolved into other species were actually around at the same time,
meaning they couldn't have evolved. As the study's co-author, Fred Spoor, says in the
article, what it paints for evolution is a "chaotic kind of looking evolutionary tree rather than
this heroic march that you see with the cartoons of an early ancestor evolving into some
intermediate and eventually unto u....

Job Vs Studies
To study or to work? (13) Atleast in the country where i hail from that is India, i can say this without a shadow of doubt
that here studies have become more of a minimum Qualification rather than doing something special TO
take an example, people all over the world prefer to do an MBA at a later stage of life when they
have an experience enough to boost their managerial skills. But here it is like, MBA has been
downtrodden to a minimum Qualification as in, once you are done with Graduation, you will have to go
for an MBA or else you will be left lurking with low salary and an average job. True ....
Laser Surgery
How is the procedure? Does it hurt? (8) I have been wearing glasses in about three years now. I know about laser surgery and its effect on
giving back perfect eye-sight. I haven't been considering it or anything, but I want to know how
the procedure is. What do the do? Does it hurt? Do they give you something so that you relax while
the surgery is going on? How long does it take? Could the surgery fail so that your eye sight
becomes worse?....
Exercise Helps Rebuild Memory
a new study has found (13) A new study has found that exercise builds up new cells in an area of the brain linked with memory
and memory loss. Mice-testing showed that they built up new cells in the region known as the
dentate gyrus , which is known to be affected in the memory decline that commonly begins at 30
years. The study was led by Dr Scott Small, a neurologist at the Columbia University Medical
Centre. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/6/story....jectid=10428792 ....

keep it. Eventually you will be able to save with a permanent cookie or by getting an encrypted
code. Right now you can only walk around and go to 2 maps. I have used preloading, and the maps load
extremely fast. But there is one problem, maybe you guys could help but I mostly just posted to tell
you guys something /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif"

Study: Tumor Risk From Cell Phones
A real issue, or just myths (14) Researchers at the Swedish National Institute for Working Life issued a report this week disputing
two earlier studies that claimed cell phone use has no correlation to increased brain tumor risk.
The Swedish study found that long-term mobile phone exposure could raise the chance of developing
cancer. In January, a four-year study performed by the London-based Institute of Cancer Research
and three British universities found that talking on a cell phone had no effect on tumor rates. That
research included 966 people with glioma brain tumors and 1,716 healthy respondents....
Plasma Monitors Vs Lcd Monitors
the true history and risks behind this new technology (23) well, i sure that you recently heard about LCD and Plasma monitors, but .... do you know whats the
diference between them, well, its HUGE and you must be very careful if you are going to buy one of
these: QUOTE 1- Life span, the number of viewing hours a monitor provides before dimming to
half brightness, is one of the biggest advantages LCD has over plasma. Though the numbers vary among
the different brands, plasma displays generally offer around 20,000 hours, while LCD sets last for
up to 50,000 hours. Point for LCD QUOTE 2- One of plasma technology'....
Ferentus
Open Beta (6) I've come across another 3d MMORPG and it carries the name Ferentus . After reading some topics
in their forum, it seems that the devs are a bit screwing up on a translated korean game (Yet
another korean game in translation phase?>.>). With having had 2 character whipes so far and only 2
months away from official releases, i wonder if they can make it to the deadline, there are still
numberous of bugs, errors and leaks. Although the sceptic statements i just made, the game looks
awesome, I am downloading it right now, to see if it is anything. Hope so...still 346M....
The Fastest Browser
nice study has been done (81) There are battles between different browsers for a long time now and it all began when netscape and
microsoft started the war;) First is now almost forgotten and the second one survived and is today
fighting mostly with Mozilla, Firefox and Opera. Each of those has many fans which will say that
his browser is the best! But WHICH IS REALLY THE BEST??? On the page HowToCreate they tried
to answer that question as they were comparing the most popular browsers for Linux (Firefox,
Mozilla, Konqeror, Opera, Epiphany), Mac OS X (Safari, Opera, OmniWeb, IE, iCab, Fir....
>>the Antispyware Software Bill Gates Uses
Microsoft Windows AnitSpyware (beta) (14) Check this out: Microsoft Windows AnitSpyware It is from Microsoft, and at first glance it is
great. I was a bit cautious at first but... Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware provides constant
protection against infection, which includes browser hijack protection, application hijack
protection, and various other critical system settings for unauthorized changes. When you scan you
computer you can choose a smart scan (less time) or a full scan (more time). I will post time
comparisons later. The scan checks memory, files, registry, and cookies. Also, you can schedule
