| | I'm thinking about moving over to voip. Sprint is offering this service and i was wondering if anyone here has made that same move. Is is worth the money they're charging or should i just sign up with some service online which would be cheaper but i'm not sure how reliable that would be. round |

You are thinking to move to voip also for mobile and fix calls or just for pc->pc calls? I am using Skype for PC-PC calls and works really great. To make calls to fix and mobiles works but the quality is worst. I heard that Xten works really good. Here you i post you a link to VoIP software: http://www.fwd.pulver.com/support/software_downloads

Few of my friends have Vonage (you can even see their ad in this forum) and they love it. I personally did not and will not consider because I have my cell (mobile) phone. I knew a long time ago the marketing strategy for these big cellular service companies so I exploited them. I now have 1500 anytime minutes and unlimited nights and weekends (and I don't need text messaging, video and picture messaging, web access) for just under $30 USD. I think that's pretty good. Anyway, I'm getting side tracked here. Please remember that if you experience a power outage, your VoIP will not work. Why? Since the VoIP device is powered from electricity outlet and your router as well, once the power goes out you cannot use your phone. The landline is powered so even if you experience a power outage you are alright. Be sure to pick up backup-power supply (UPS).

You can call from PC-PC total free. It works like a messenger. You add contacts and when they are online you can call them. I just headphones and it is really confortable. When someone calls you a pop up windows appear and a ring tone sounds. Like normal telephone. You can also call from PC to fix or mobile phone with skype. For that you have to pay (but it is really cheap) and the quality is it not as good as PC-PC calls. QUOTE(Goosestaf @ May 18 2005, 07:39 PM) I heard you can transfer files across aswell. i was also thinking about using pc to pc calling but the voip is more like a regular phone. It uses your high speed internet connection instead of your phone line to make calls. You use a regular phone to make your calls and not your pc, no mic or anything else. I was wondering if anyone had made the switch yet? round

What Messenger/email Service Do You Use?
(90) I went with gmail when the hype began. Nice inbox size, and it's brilliant if all you want is a
good email service. However, I switched back to hotmail simply because of it's MSN

gmail is gonna come up with. MSN has climbed so high above the other clients that I believe it
won't go down without a fight Anyhoo, what does everyone else use? Hotmail? Yahoo? Gmail? ISP
email? Or what IM client? MSN? AIM? Waiting for gmail messenger? Post away. ....

Using Voip
with VOIP, will we still need landlines? (13) Voice delivered using the IP. It is a term used in IP TELEPHONY for a set of facilities for managing
the delivery of voice information using the IP. In general, this means sending voice information in
digital form in discrete packets rather than in the traditional circuit-committed protocols of the
public switched telephone network (PSTN). A major advantage of VoIP and Internet telephony is that
it avoids the tolls charged by ordinary telephone service. so who'll still be using ordinary

Google Set To Take On Voip
(7) QUOTE Google, the world's most used search engine, is set to take on online voice and
instant messaging service providers such as Skype, Microsoft and Yahoo. The firm has released a
free service called Google Talk, which lets e-mail account holders talk to each other via a PC,
microphone and speakers. There had been speculation that Google would use the cash from a
$4bn share sale to buy its way into the market. Instead, Google promised to try to make Talk
work with other firms' offerings. Google Talk will also offer instant messaging, but unlike ....
Voip(voice Over Internet Protocol)
real money saver (16) VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the communication technology of the future for sure. Legacy
technology carries voice signals over analog circuits and lines. Voice over IP converts the analog
signal to digital and transports the signal to the receiver where it is converted back from digital
to analog and the receiver hears the sender's voice. This provides a more efficient and
economical means of communication. I have know VOIP for quite a some time since i started online.
Most of the time i use msn messeger or yahoo messeger to chat with my friends. Recently,....
