i dont know how much it helps on broadband and stuff - i tend to have a lot of windows open and noticed a big difference on my system..hope it helps though

Right hand click at any place, then select new > integer. Then type nglayout.initialpaint.delay . Lastly set it to zero then closed all firefox. Then open firefox again...
Confusing?
