The lack of loudness is probably because the speaker isnt very powerfull in which case there is nothing you can do but maybe you can find an amplifier which will fit into the headphone/sound out port and amplify the sound and send it on to more speakers, most speaker systems have amps in them anyway so if you bought a set of speakers, especially those with an external power source, you should get much louder and better quality sound. That would be the only way i know of increasing the volume

Yep that is the only downside to have a laptop is inaudible speakers, but to make sure check your volume settings on your desktop and then check your volume settings through your control panel and see if that helps. EDIT: talk to you on msn so this is just a friendly reminder post.

Go to www.fxsound.com and download a software named DFX for your Media Player Version. It will increase your media player's sound playback capabilities as well as quality of sound. However for 3D Surround sound features you'll need to buy it.

I have heard of DFX for Windows Media Player and tried it in the past, but the reason why I don't use it anymore is because of at times the quality of the sound has funny noises, and it was pretty irritating. Laptop's sound are generally softer, but perhaps you can buy some enhancements to hear your sound better like a headphone or a earpiece, those devices will allow you to hear sounds which are generally louder than simply depending on a mere generic speaker from your laptop/

Laptops sounds are lower than your desktop--so it may be lower than what you are used to. But check this first--if your music sounds lower than usual, under your Windows Media Player plug-in setting turn off your SRS. This is Toshiba's default set to "enhance" your media entertainment experience. If you already have or wanted louder than what your laptop can produce, try external powered speakers. Laptop, initial idea, was designed to be portable and desk space-saving--not to replace your desktop completely. Therefore, some features are minimized for allowed hardware frame.

My Notebook Takes Ages To Start Up
(4) The notebook at my office takes at least 20 minutes to start up after I log in! There will be a
box that says 'Running startup script' before my desktop loads. Why is this so? I'm

computer meltdown (17) Hi you've probably been asked this about 50 million times, but i'm gonna ask! i bought
a computer off my dads friends and when i got it it started getting windows boxes up saying that the
computer was at risk. they popped up continuously at 2 min intervals. This then stopped. i have my

Sound Notification In Browsers Not Working
(2) On my XOOPS support site, www.warpigw2.com, I have a web based live help application to communicate
with my customers. When someone clicks on the Live Help image and enters their information it is
suppose to give a sound notification that someone is waiting. It used to work fine, and I do not
know where to look to fix it. It is a *.wav file, so pretty standard. It works on my windblowz box

Sound Card Driver Problems
(6) I am having trouble when trying to update the driver for my 'creative audigy 2 ZS' sound
card. I downloaded the driver, then went to update it and it says please reboot your computer for
the hardware to start working. It then has a '?' in device manager and basically doesn't

5.1 Surround Messing up (1) Hi there, I recently bought a new sound system, its a logitech 5.1 system, and it's really
good, and has been working without a hitch until I installed new audio drivers, now the outputs are
messed up, what should be rear left comes out the fron right, and the rear right is now the sub.

5.1 Sound System Problems
Need help... (6) I have a 5.1 Sound System. It works great in 2 channels but when I switch to 5.1 the subwoofer
ain't working. My motherboard has a nvidia 4 ultra chipset so it supports 5.1 configuration.
Also in nvidia mixer when I use sound test everything is great and I can hear the subwooofer working
as is should. But when I want to watch a movie or listen to music the subwoofer is as good as dead.
