some people say that what you will do today will decide your future. is it really posible. i dont think so!! think of it. what ever we do today generates some information which has to be sent in to the future to change it (or effect it). so for an instantaneous change, the information has to go into the future in zero time. for this the information packets have to move with a speed greater (or equal to speed of time). and we all know that it is not possible to move with a speed greater than that of light. those who dont know this i will give the formula developed by einstein which gives the mass of a body moving at some velocity. it is given by, m` = m/SQRT(1-(v/c)^2) where, m`= mass of moving body m= mass of stationary body v= velocity of the body c= velocity of light SQRT is square root now if the speed tends to become equal to that of c i.e. speed of light the mass of the body increases and tends to reach towards infinity. so that means moving with that speed is not possible so then the information cant effect our future instantaneously. there will be some delay. which means nothing is called destiny or our deeds define our future.!! everything is random. its all about choices and the probability of the outcome of that action.

hello buddy, i thought that it would be good if i be the first one to reply back...nice post buddy...you have i think put a lot of mind in that....but what u have written can lead to two things... one is that either there is nothing of the sort of destiny and hence is according to what you are trying to prove... the other way to look at it is as if maybe there is a fixed destiny and it does not chnage according to what we do in present... so one angle makes the destiny thing illogical and one way makes it more strong.... chalo...maybe someone else will put some more points to clear it up... ok bye...keep writing...

It's the future we're talking about here. This quoted part here contradicts itself. You can't say that it's possible (i.e. not instantly), then go on to say that it isn't and that it's all random. By the way, let's say there is no moving "body", how does that fit into your equation? Or let's say there is no stationary "body", how does that fit? The object cannot be both stationary and moving. Also, what is everyone's destiny? If it was random, not everyone would have the same destiny (death). Of course, math is unnecessary to prove that "destiny" is dependent not on yourself. And, yes, there is something called "destiny."

I don't think there's a thing called Destiny... Because every action we do reflects what happens next! Say i walk down the road and come to a lightcross, i'm just strolling the city and decide to take the right turn, then i could meet an old friend, maybe have a coffee at the little cafe there - However what if i chose LEFT? Well i'd probably not meet my good old friend, or stop for a coffee... It's all "there and then" i think.

(even light acts as a particle, that is why it rebounds from any surface) so when its mass characteristics are more strong, then newtonian mechanics governs the body, and when its the wave characteristic, its the quantum one!! AND death is not our destiny.. death is not a stage.. its a path.. "when" you cross that path can not be effected by your present actions.. you can not predict.. only gives the average value..

Well I believe that the only constant destiny we ALL have is DEATH! but other than that, everything changes according to our actions, thoughts, and decisions. for example, this year I've graduated from high school, now I have two choices, the first one is to study computer science at collage or study genetic engineering, so in this case, my future will change according to my decision, I won't be a genetic engineer if I chose to study computer science!! that's only possible if I chose to study genetic engineering! now all that physics and math thing you talked about just doesn't make any sense to me, actually I didn't get the idea quiet well. But in case you are saying that it won't affect our future instantly then this might be true, but at the same time, you should keep in mind that we're talking about destiny which is FUTURE! so instead of changing it right now, why not wait for more 2 or 3 days and then change it... everything is possible! But eventhough, I still believe that our future is NOT pre-written, our decisions make our future, not anything else.

anyways hope u ppl liked my contribution.. i did managed to start a discussion.. Anyone for chaos and entropy? The fact is so little is actually chaos. Everything has the marks and scares and influence of everything else in the universe, however big ot miniscul that influence might be. Therefore everything in the universe has a slight variation of the universe as a whole. Therefore everything is made of patterns, shapes and subforms. Take the moon for example, seemingly empty but with form and subforms. It is round because of gravity and mass that it has, it has crater formed by the impacts of smaller objects hitting it. Take another example of a field of grass or wheat, it seems empty and random, yet it is made of of millions of precious forms of vegitation all formed to the DNA contained in them which is a result of millions of years of evolutions (history), Even the patterns they grow in are formed by earlier generations of the same product as well as the soil which is influence by millions of years of rain, erosion, fire, etc... these influences are also the result of patterns in the earths environment. Everything has many components that make up and influence its form, and many of the forms also exert their inherent purpose to their environment giving back to the cosmic all. If one can understand all, then one can understand destiny. But only by being everything would in my oppinion be anle to understand all, and that would let to loosing our own form and identity in the process. To that end we can only know slices of the universe if we hope to understand it, and then only within the context of that slice. Hence we seemly and practically have a degree of free will, that is by understand the slice we apply ourselves to, we can exert our will to modify its destiny, in the big picture this was innevitable. The more you know the more you realise you don't know. In this we escape boredom and keep ourselves busy, learning and entertain, or alternatively we suffer. Destiny is what you make it, or at least that is a practical concept that we can serve. Else we are a leaf blowing in the wind subject to the winds of change and those who are serving the universe with their personal taste. To take from the universe is to serve the universe and give back to it. To be the leaf blown by the wind is to be the observer and student of the universe. Let the god that is in your heart shine and shape the universe and you will serve not only yourself, but the universe and god as well.

For me, there is a driving, primitive force that can leave everything defined. To something precise. But also, there is a huge thing and we call it "free will", it comes up in different ways, that, despite the definite future set by our actions ultil this moment, the next action we decide to take will afect it all. And that leaves us with a "what I do and what I've done results in a future". Also, in all the universe, there is a driving law of Chaos and Cosmos. So, well.... Destiny is a half-right concept, but we shouldn't believe firmly on it. We must make up our own future. We have to worry about what we're doing NOW. this moment is the important moment. All other times are irrelevant! And that's all I have to say xD

those who dont know this i will give the formula developed by einstein which gives the mass of a body moving at some velocity. it is given by,
m` = m/SQRT(1-(v/c)^2)
where, m`= mass of moving body m= mass of stationary body v= velocity of the body c= velocity of light
SQRT is square root
now if the speed tends to become equal to that of c i.e. speed of light the mass of the body increases and tends to reach towards infinity. so that means moving with that speed is not possible so then the information cant effect our future instantaneously. there will be some delay. which means nothing is called destiny or our deeds define our future.!! everything is random. its all about choices and the probability of the outcome of that action. you know theres one thing i hate about maths, science and the people who typicly utilize them... its not personal, i just watched the movie 'contact' last night, my mind is still going and this seems relevant. people of today with the aid of facts seem to always conclude that they are correct. why? because what you see infront of you seems to be in order? ...thats like operating only in the worl of known-knowns and known-unknowns. when infact theres this magical world off to the left... called unknown-unknowns -- see 'the boondocks' season 1. when one ignores the posibility of posibilities, one inevitably sets oneself up for eventual failure. this is because -just as science works on facts, the world is really a large combinations of factors! as long as we humans remain unable to percive and respond to ALL factors nothing we say, see or do can truly be seen as correct, true, or inffalable. no this is going a bit off topic, so to re-orentate lets look back at the title of this post. "is there something called destiny?". here what i dont get.... why would you try to use an equation to figure out what barely relates to math and seems more like a personal view? just another unknown-unknown. im not saying that its stupid, cause it seems do-able... if you understood the factors. and you have some factors there: m`= mass of moving body m= mass of stationary body v= velocity of the body c= velocity of light and an equation to try and make sense of it: m` = m/SQRT(1-(v/c)^2) but could you tell me, or anyone what the velocity of an action is? whats its mass. does an action move faster than light? ...what i dont get is why you stop to question this... you know you have free will, you could read this whole message of your own free will, you could walk out side and murder some one of your own free will. its all the same. you dont need math to tell you that. all in all destiny doesnt exist... lol

Simply said i do not believe in destiny. It's simple if our greatgreatgreatblaparents did not decide to crawl outside and snuff up the pre-history flowers we would not be here today. Everything which happends is an aftermath of choices and actions which all began somewhere (some can be old some can be very recent) Per example you could decide to strap on a few bombs walk to your local mall pick up a random female and blow yourself and her up to smithereens now let me tell you what happenend was not fate or destiny that woman did not have to do You took your own decisions and decided that today would be a nice day to blow stuff up you made the decision to press the button not a greater power and the old woman decided that she wanted to go shopping (prolly because she did not have any more veggies for her soup) it wasnt fate that brought the woman there it was timeing and decisions made by for and with people

Well I think destiny doesn't exist. Why? Because for destiny to exist, the knowledge of the future has to exist, and that can not possible be in any archive, in any divine mind or plan as each of our actions are what determine the future. I believe that destiny was an idea that pacifies the soul. To think that there is a future that we can not avoid can often make us feel better in a tense situation. For example, if you were to have made a bad business decision and looked back on what you had done, it would be easier to face your failure by consoling yourself with the idea that your destiny had already been determined. This eases some of the weight of your choice off of your shoulders and onto that of the general plan of the world. Ravimal, as you said, Buddhism says things happen for a reason. People usually look at this sentence, smile and nod, and believe. But I tend to look at the reason behind this statement. Why would someone say things happen for a reason? Simple, to make the general population less stressed. If you were walking home and a bird pooped on your favorite shirt, it's easy to smile and say, "Oh well I'm sure it happened for a reason." But when you think about it, the whole 'reason' ideology was made to make people feel better about life. So that people can live without fearing every incident or mistake, Buddha's ideas preach a greater scheme of life. Ravimal, your example of the Sri Lankan fortune tellers is very hard to believe. This in no way discredits those who you appraise but as an atheist who sees no base in profound seeings of a man. I find it is impossible and only after seeing it or obtaining credited footage can I begin to formulate an opinion on such a thing. One thing about fortune telling is that through ambiguity they often gain the trust of their client. For example if I was a fortune teller and someone offered me cash to tell them the future I'd say something like: "You are nervous on the inside but show a strong exterior. You are not satisfied with what you have but soon, in about a month you will begin to find happiness." If some Tom, *BLEEP* or Harry hears that they would smile and nod, then pay the cash and leave. It's the use of such a general prediction that we often begin to trust in the supernatural. I think destiny is not real and it was made so that we weren't so scared by the weight of every choice that we make. This is probably because I am a very down to earth person who doesn't often waiver into the realms of the occult, or I just haven't seen enough to believe. -Just my opinion.

Who or what has a destiny? Normally we say there is a destiny for all living things. I'm not sure on this statement. But the my vision is nothing can predict perfectly. There may be a lot of variations on a event which we consider. According to the Christianity there is no rebirth. But according to the clues I found I can't believe it. Some time it may mean another idea rather than the word meaning of "rebirth". In Buddhism it has a totally different concept as there is no rebirth but have an circular existent of spiritual. If there is a destiny for each and every one they should be stored in the spirits of each(but this is true only in my point of view since I hope that there is no creator other than the natural science). But the problem is if there is an destiny why anybody couldn't tell what will happen next 100% correctly. In another hand there is an ambiguous event I heard and experienced also. That is in Sri lanka there is a fortune telling center quite different from the other fortune tellers. Once a person ask from them to tell his or her past, present and future, they take a hand print and tell a date to come back. And after the person come, they read a document which is actually a palm leaf. The wonder is the teller tells the surname and given name of the person. then the age when of the person when he get to know about his destiny(yes it's current age the person). Then the full names of fathers and mothers, occupation, number of children, about the spouse(name, occupation, deceases having etc.). The past and present details are 100% correct. Normally they say definite things such as names, ages, how the name of the person formed(it's a miracle). When we consider about the future all the definite information such as events in specific age kind of things are 100% correct. But other indefinite information such as occupation, deceases kind of things not correct 100%. These people say that they found these printed palm leaf from India. and they say that these information were written by hindu monks who has special power to see the future. The stuffs were owned by a Maharaja in India. I did lot of researches to solve this ambiguous while standing on religious and nonreligious (theories of modern physics) concepts. Finally I found a solution which satisfy me more than fifty percent. In Buddhism, it says that all the things happened for a reason. It is called as patichchasamuppaadaya (if you are not a south Asian don't try to pronounce it ). The things happen falls to five category as uthu (whether), beeja (birth and related stuffs like seeds), kamma(Known as "karma" the things we done using our mind and through our body but also with mind), damma(the sciences of nature), chiththa(the mutability of mind). The fortune teller I said before is reading about the stuff which falls to the category of kamma only. Therefore their prediction may be wrong according to the other four criteria. For an example it is proved that we cannot do perfect whether forecast ever. So I realized that all have their own destiny and it is changeable on some criteria and a destiny of a living thing creates according to its own activities. If somebody can be without doing any activity which effects to his or her destiny then he or she can end their existence. But I have no idea about a person who has no a destiny.

Fate , Time Or Destiny?
Something out from my heart (2) FATE , TIME or DESTINY? This is something i created a year back and posted it on my blog here it
goes QUOTE What was the start of all this? When did the cogs of fate begin to turn? Perhaps it
is impossible to grasp that answer now, From deep within the flow of time...But, for a certainty,
back then, We loved so many, yet hated so much, We hurt others and were hurt ourselves... Yet even
then we ran like the wind Whilst our laughter echoed, Under cerulean skies... I have been waiting
an eternity... just for this very moment... Meaninglessly hurting one another... T....

The So-called War In Iraq
(8) I'm tired of hearing the news medi and the left bang the peace drum night after night constanty
calling for America to tuck tail and run. What realy gets me is that in a span of 5 years we as a
country of 300 million people have lost around 4 thousand of our brave sons and daughters which is
sad but when compared to the lives lost in most of our wars I would dare say we've been getting
off fairly easy concidering that in the second world war we lost three thousand men on an average
day. As a matter of fact on D. Day alone we lost 10 thousand men in one day. In Ko....

Pluto No Longer A Planet But Is Called A "dwarf" Planet
new definition (25) It seems that astronomers have voted to remove Pluto off the list of planets. The textbooks have to
be rewritten everywhere in the world. Children need to learn one planet less. Now what are the
astrologers going to tell. Are they going to tell that they knew this was going to happen ? At least
I think people can stop believing astrologers who make things up for their own profit. ....

The So Called "bestwebhost.com"
A hoax? (36) Well first I'd like so say that I've never used this host, and never will;
http://bestwebhost.com/ here's the story; I was driving down the road, west side of town(the
slums), and noticed a building, it was called BestWebHost.Com. My first impression was, "Ya, right".
So once I got home I checked it out. Got to there website and it was horrible on the eyes. It was
obviously hardcoded, and hardcoded very BADLY. Not profesional at all. I noticed they charged 10
dollars a MONTH for hosting, so I'm thinking to myself "Wow, it better be good". After a few m....

Trap17 Own Lan Party!
using a freebie called hamachi (8) I am sure that most of us must have heard of Hamachi. If not, then Hamachi is a free software which
is creates a zero configuration virtual private network (VPN) - if I say it in simple terms it
creates a virtual LAN in which people can share files, play games, chat with users etc. I think we
must download this software and join Trap17 public network..this way users will be able to play
games, chat with other users and will be able to do what ever creative things related to network
come in mind. what's your opinion about this and the software itself. http://www.h....
I Just Saw The Scariest Movie Ever
its called elephant. (10) I was at my friend's house yesterday, and we were really bored and looking for a movie to watch
on in-demand. So we saw this movie called "elephant" and I told her it was really good so we watched
it. It's basically about a day in the life of ten high-school teenagers, and it is based on the
Columbine High School Massacre. The movie was really boring up until the last thirty minutes, when
the two killers started shooting and killing everyone. At first, the movie is just bits and pieces
and throughout the whole movie, me and my friend were like "what the hell?" be....

So Called 'friends'!
What's their problem? (10) You know what really bugs me? Your friends that piss you off! Like I have this friend and she
got asked out by a guy. They went out for 1 day then he dumped her because he didn't want to
ruin their friendship. He's a really nice guy and me and all my friends (except my friends he
asked out) agree with him. She had a cry about it as you do but she didn't stop there. She went
on about it for ages. We were on holiday as a school at the time. We when shopping and she bought a
bra. She said 'There's really no point in me getting this.' I said '....
The So Called "vent"...
Yeah, ok. (22) Ok so as you all know my posts got closed (2 of them mind you) for "bad" language. Or for "taking an
issue up with another forums member, without informing an admin first about my problem".... Below
is the Pinned:Read First section located at the top of the subforum list, which you see as soon as
you enter "The Vent" "The Vent is a place for members to have a yell about whatever they want. This
forum may contain high-impact explicit language, controversial discussions, and other such content
