Okay... I'm hosted here on Trap17. I would like to connect to a remote MySQL database located on another server... can someone walk me through what I need to do to set this up, or if it can even be done?

change the localhost to your url.

I've tried that already... it says that there's an error in the database... so I'm assuming that means, it didn't work.

Can anyone tell me how to connect the mysql database which is on another remote server. I got ip address details. But I don't know how to create dsn for that. I know how to create dsn for the local server. Please help me to solve this matter.

well i'm getting an error message(a databass connection warning) for all of the parts of my site
that connects to a mysql database i check my database users pertmissions and i try to do the repair
database thing and it's still not woeking. am i the only person having this or is it an overall

I just got web hosting approved and I want to host the site I created using Struts framework.
I'm a complete newb when it comes to web hosting, so I need a little help. Is there a tutorial
that covers this subject? I apologize in advance if this question was already answered, but
I've been unable to find the answer anywhere. One thing I have to note is that I need to know
absolute address of the uploaded files in order for my application to work. Is this even allowed?
Any help with hosting of Java applications will be appreciated.....

After all the recent problems, my account has been restored. I have setup my parked domain agin, and
that works fine. However, I can no longer access my MySQL databases (I can from PHPMyAdmin, but
that's all). I had to create a new user for my databases, and created the user with exactly the
same username and password I had before, but some of my web pages do not let me access the pages I
have associated with my databases. Where could i find out what my DB password is? (Although I am as
good as sure I am using the right one). I have tried my old password, the new c....

Is it possible to directly access my local database from my website? For example, if somebody
submits info on my website, the info they submitted would be transferred to my local database
directly. Is that possible? And if so, how do I set that up? The reason I don't want to upload
my database to my subdomain is because it would be difficult to keep the website database and my
local database in sync . . . or is there a way to do that? Thanks for any replies.....

I would like to setup an FTP account for users of my website, but I'm not too sure how to do it.
I'm using Joomla for a website, and the members who register can submit Articles in certain
sections. I would like most of the images in these articles stored locally(also to get some
functions, they need certain extensions on the file name, which a free host cannot do). So I would
like there to be an FTP account that members can access and upload images too, but not delete any of
them. Thanks.....

The forum has been up and running for about a year and a half. It has been through numerous server

*edit* Ok well the original problem has been solved. I have installed phpBB2 on my new how here.
Transfered all of the database files over. On my new forums all of the old posts and everything
shows up right. The problem is when I click the "Go to administration panel" at the bottom it links
me to log into my ACP on my old forums. It changes the url and all. If I hover over the link it
says that it will be directed to the right way, the way I want, but it doesn't. Does anyone
know anyway to fix this?....

Hey, i just uploaded and installed Smf on my website. Everything is working fine with the forums
themselves, but every now and then i get 1 or 2 messages. Here they are. " Database Error: Lost

99 Mysql Databases?

I just got my account, and I was wondering: do we really get 99 MySql databases? I've read a
lot of the stuff about it, and it sounded like we only get one database, but my cPanel says that I
have "0 / 99" databases. If it's lying, it's not really a problem, because I could always
just prefix my tables, but I was just wondering why it would say that. If for some reason it was
letting me get more than one database, and I wasn't supposed to, I don't want to get my

never faced any issues witht the free hosting so far, but his is the first time I'm facing this.

I already have my domain at www.gamingcentral.trap17.com Yes, i know i have forums already there.
But i want to switch over to invisionfree cause i am having some problems with the software. But,
when i go to change the domain from http://z4.invisionfree.com/gamincentral/index.php?act=idx to
www.gamingcentral.trap17.com i get this error message The domain you have entered does not appear to
point to this server at this time. The domain should point to z4.invisionfree.com with a CNAME
record. If anybody knows why this is happening please let me know. Thanks....

hello, well since i installed php-nuke on my site's dir i have seen quite a lot of mysql SERVER
ERRORS, like that the server is going down so now and often is it due to my cms or is the server
having some probs ? this is what i just saw from the statistics: QUOTE Service Status

hi all - i'm going to make this brief. my CMS (drupal 5.0) and forum (SMF 1.1.1) cannot connect
to the mysql db. however their files CAN still be accessed. I also tried uploading a file through an
ftp client and the file could be accessed. HOWEVER: cpanel cannot be accessed either. it simply
loads with a blank page. however both worked earlier today. so is there a problem with the server?
and if there is, will it be fixed?....

So...I am uploading Xoops CMS (Already tried Joomla and Drupal and didn't like) because
Fantastico's is outdated. My FTP Client connection breaks down continously alone. Is this my
problem or is there a server issue I should know about? Should I send in a different mode like
ASCII or Auto? I am also sending with PASV(Passive) parameters. Thanks by now.....

hello, well i had created a subdomain and was transferring files into the folder i was disconnect
from the server many times while uploading the files via ftp once when i reconnect, i saw a file
with an unusual name something starting with preftp... i tried deleting the file, but it said that
permission was not granted to do that i tired deleting the complete folder and also tried deleting
