Server Issues? Web Site Down? Cpanel Access? - Server Migration issues to report.

I tried downloading my email from website this morning and Thunderbird said it couldn't access it the server. Then I tried loading my website - to no avail. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Is anyone else experiencing this? Seems like this is the second time this spring this has happened. Is an upgrade going on, or something? Thanks in advance for your help!

looks like were sharing the same server, misanthrope... my site won't load too. no official advisory on this matter yet... let's just hope the downtime won't last long.

Xisto are physically moving their servers - there's an announcement on Xisto support about it.

They've been down since at least 7AM BST (when I woke up and realised I couldn't check my email tongue.gif), so nearly 12 hours now.

I have experienced the same thing since this morning (9.oo am GMT, it is now almost 7 pm), the only thing is, my site does load, but it is only since about 2 hours ago I can access the forum here, before I constantly got the message (I use Firefox as my browser) "This site is taking too long to load". When I try to access my Trap17 Cpanel, the login screen appears, but ends up in giving me an empty white page.
I can ping my smtp server (the one in the name of the domain I have hosted at trap17), but when I try to send email I get "Unexpected failure, please try later", the same when i try to access the Trap17 SMTP or POP3 server.

I am glad someone mentioned the announcement on Xisto, as, since I raised a ticket with them many hours ago, I never received a single reply.
This is all highly annoying and I really hope it will not go on for much longer.
I am very fortunate I finally managed to access the forum so i can add a bit of credit.

In all fairness, moving all their servers from one datacentre to another is a big and complicated task; it's likely all the people were too busy with the servers to answer your ticket quickly. Not to mention they probably had hundreds of similar tickets from other people who were wondering what happened.

http://www.xisto.com/network-status shows all the servers as being online again, but I'm still having trouble with mine. I am on a very slow (GPRS) connection, though - it might just be that.
Can anybody else get on?

Nope, the same problems are still going on this end.
(Email and control panel still hopelessly down).

Yes, Serverph - I'd say you're probably right. Here it is going on 3pm and I still can't access my site, though I notice that several other trap17 sites are up and running. Curious. And as it turns out my site's been down since last night. This seems excessive.

Yeah, it's funny how customers wonder what's happening when they're kept in the dark. "In all fairness," staff could have avoided all those trouble tickets (or at least the majority) had they posted something - anything - at the trap17 forums when they knew a migration was going to take place. A little head's up would have been both the professional and courteous thing to do. As it stands, we were only alerted to the cause of the problem because a newer member took it upon himself to investigate the matter at headquarters after the fact. If admin would please chime in with the estimated uptime of the remaining down sites here in the support forum we'd appreciate it. I for one need to access my site as soon as possible.

Not necessarily. Some people don't take the time to search for and look at the topics concerning Trap17 or Xisto in general, especially when they believe submitting a support ticket will solve their problem. The server movement does not affect Trap17 alone, it also affects other Xisto hosting sites. It is proper and much more convenient to post at XistoSupport than to go into each forum and make a topic concerning this. And since Trap17 forums have been down for a while (i'm still feeling some lag on my side), the Trap17 forums shouldn't currently be relied upon for making announcements.

my site works but i cant access my control pannle so i thought it was just my luck so can i assume that the reason why my uni.cc DNS donain is not working is because of this. how long do you expect this move to go on.

If this topic is any indicator, customers who "believed" they would receive a response via your suggestion have in fact not. When staff has foreknowledge -however slight - that individual websites will be down for a length of time, than that information should be disseminated through the channels that customers frequent as a matter of course before maintenance. I do not, as a matter of course, visit xisto.com before getting down to the business of editing my website. I expect my site to be up a majority of the time as promised, which thankfully - it has been, for the most part. I do, however, log in to my website through trap17.com, since that is where login access for my cpanel is located. It is most certainly not convenient for me to visit xisto.com prior to accessing my website to check on announcements that apparently appear after the fact. And it is inconvenient to attempt several login attempts at my website, post a valid question at the SUPPORT forum, wait for a response from admin only to receive apologist rhetoric from a moderator. I request admin confirmation of this moderator's statements.

I wrote the post so that all of the members could understand the situation, we expected members to support us positively. We at Xisto understand that your site needs to be up 24x7, we know that your sites are very important to all of you even if others don't understand it. I know it is very confusing to not find the news in the Alert section like it is always done. OpaQue was the one who had set up the news a day prior to the shift hoping that members might check the News section if it was not present on the forum.. I am sure you can forgive OpaQue for not submitting the topic in the Alerts section smile.gif

Now, as members do not read posts nor do they need news below are bullet points for simpler and easier assimilation :-


1. There was no time to put up the topic. Period .

2. We knew that ComputingHost paid clients would view the xistosupport page after receiving their emails.... I am sorry if they are "elusive"

3. We merely expected the members to view the news section when they saw their sites were not working. The forum was down when the shift had begun, If I or OpaQue were expected to put up a topic on a website that was down... I am sorry that we failed to do so. We never knew that the forum was up because the only pages open on our computers were the server Cpanels and billing records of clients who were calling up or sending emails.

4. By the time we realized that the forum was up, we were already too deep into configuring the network.

5. OpaQue had no time to reply to topics in detail.

6. No one called it "free" you post for your hosting.

7. For the last time, you will be updated when the issue is solved. Till then stay away from your Cpanels and be patient.

8. Yes, delays cause problems but this was not at all expected so please be a bit patient.

1. We knew it was coming but we never knew that it would happen so suddenly.

2. No one screwed up bad over here, you can confirm this with OpaQue.. He would know better. Unless you have a suspect and enough proof smile.gif

Okay I see a lot of chaos all around and my site zoebelkin.co.cc is still down. Everything including FTP, CPanel etc are down. My site is on the gamma server. I see that all the servers are moved around a lot and the IP also changing. So what is the new IP set for 'gamma'. When doing a reverse check on gamma I see it is still assigned to it's previous IP but when I'm trying to access the previous IP's port 80 then I get a Server not found errer. Also the gamma.xisto.com name for the server fails to open the default Apache page whichg it used to give. So cvould any one tell me if the IP of gamma has either changed or not. I want the IP cause my domain is based on Zone Records & I need the IP for my A record.

    I am posting this here rather than in the 'Web design' topic as it seems to be something
    which happens exclusively to my Trap 17 web site. When i have my web site open, which you can find
    here , every so often (quite regular actually) a short and high pitched beep is sounded. At first I
    thought it had something to do with my sound card or my PC, but recently I discovered it only

    I got a reply from Xisto today that my site was up and running again. Yet, when I surf to it, it
    will not load, also, my email client keeps telling me the POP3 server (the one related to my domain)
    timed out. My Cpanel will not open neither. On my son's laptop (on the same network, hence same
    IP address) the site loads immediately. Has anyone got any idea what the problem my end could be?

    Trap17 is more navigatable and has a cooler cPanel than computinghost. (1)
    Trap17 is more navigatable and has a cooler cPanel than computinghost... This may be opinion, but
    the HTML editor on computinghost is long gone. The cPanel is the newer version but as always newer
    isn't always better. So what if they have a new cpanel (ensim did the same thing)…the fact is
    they left old software on for years when much newer and more secure versions are ready. Hell, php6
    is about to come out. So in two years plesk, cpanel and ensim will finally go to php6 when php 8 is
    available. Just the inablilty to apply security patches alone is enough to nev....

    Hi, I am having some serious problems with my sub domains. I registered a site with trap17 named
    http://zoebelkin.co.cc . Then I made 2 sub domains for the site. One is for the forums section

    Ever since today, my site has been working just fine. I'm maintaining the amount of points I
    need, and the server status has been and still is fine. However, a while ago I tried to access my
    site and it wasn't loading. When I loaded the root URL, it worked fine though. I went to the
    file manager and noticed that the file I was trying to previously access was .php, and the index
    file at my root URL was .html. I deleted the index.html file and made a index.php file, then tried

    Well topic title says its all I have problem with ftp access to my account here on trap17 so if
    anyone has experienced similar issues lately. The problem is when I try to log on it disconnects me
    from the server. I am using filezilla however I have tried to access trough file manager and it
    works fine though it is not the same protocol. I must admit I have deleted some folders recently
    however I am quite certain that it is all connected to the joomla installation and not some system
    files but if there is some specified folder for ftp could you plese write down so I cou....
