Misanthrope I believe your really twisting the words around and making xisto look incompetent, if you haven't notice, trap17 alone as 40,000+ members, asta has about 20,000+, and not to mention a few thousand paid clients as well. With what I know about the support, there are not that many people working the back end of support and so a list priority has to be made. That being the fact sending at least 75,000-80,000 emails is going to take up a lot of resources and time to reach everyone, and that was time Xisto could not afford. Also I believe the post is referring to computinghost clients using the forums and not the regular trap17 members, and for informing everyone through an email would seem a bit unnecessary now since a post was made on whats going on right now. From looking at the post it seems that they were not planning on this happening and if they didn't I doubt they were expecting the problems that they were having especially with gamma. I don't know the reason why gamma is completely down now, just saw the server status and I know earlier that only the Apache and the internet connection were down. So wait it out like everyone else is with patience, and remembering the world isn't perfect or there would be only one hosting company making billions.

I am sorry about the downtime, but currently the sites are down due to some technical reason. I thank you for your patience and cooperation. Truefusion is correct, generally clients prefer confirming the news they read by submitting a ticket so that they know what they are exactly looking into. Very few clients use the forums to find current news about computinghost updates and maintenance and rely on the Xisto support website to keep them updated. We do not expect nor ask you to visit xisto before you edit your pages, I know it can be tiresome but there is an option where you can subscribe to the news. We put up only important news so you do not have to worry about spam. That is why there is support website so any member who has questions could send in a support ticket or talk to support through live chat as well. Remember a moderator is job is to inform members as best they can when an admin is not available, and when OpaQue has the chance he will make a statement about the server migration. We realized that the issue was serious when we noticed the VPSs' accounts were suffering severe downtime, and so every server, VPS accounts, dedicated IP’s and owner IP’s had to be change and thus another reason for the delay in informing everyone. That is why a server migration takes time so no data would be lost in the transfer, and thus the reason for patience while the bugs are being fixed. http://theta.xisto.com:2082 is a server where paid clients are hosted, and so free hosting clients will not be able sign in there and that you try not to attempt to login into others servers except for what your hosting accounts are on. Mike, why is it so easy for you to jump in the middle of a discussion not remotely related to you and start making excuses for others' bad behavior? No one suggested that Xisto is a "perfect" entity, but there are some very basic protocols that should be followed before a major undertaking such as physically moving servers from what appears to be nothing more than a parking garage with no A/C, and poor or no UPS backing it up and transporting it by someone's VW Bus or something to a real data center where I'd assumed it was in the first place. Even if it was an emergency, someone could have and should have taken three minutes of their valuable time to post something up on the Alerts and Notices forum to make people aware their service was going to be interrupted. It's called basic common decency, communication, and good business. And everyone who keeps calling this service "free", stop! There's no free lunch, and there's no free hosting. If it was free, I wouldn't be sitting here in front of my laptop responding to Mike.

aH so thats what going on, I thought so for a second that their servers must be getting upgraded or moved to a diffrent location. Hopefully its closer to me lol! That would be sweet. It seems weird however, does Xisto do this often?

I certainly feel that we should have been notified of this process at least a day before. That would have allowed us to setup some sort of backup plan. My shareware softwares have been rendered useless because they require access to my site for eavaluation purposes.

Okay I see a lot of chaos all around and my site zoebelkin.co.cc is still down. Everything including FTP, CPanel etc are down. My site is on the gamma server. I see that all the servers are moved around a lot and the IP also changing. So what is the new IP set for 'gamma'. When doing a reverse check on gamma I see it is still assigned to it's previous IP but when I'm trying to access the previous IP's port 80 then I get a Server not found errer. Also the gamma.xisto.com name for the server fails to open the default Apache page whichg it used to give. So cvould any one tell me if the IP of gamma has either changed or not. I want the IP cause my domain is based on Zone Records & I need the IP for my A record. Please reply soon. Any one help me please! I'm desperate top solve the prob::

We at Xisto understand that your site needs to be up 24x7, we know that your sites are very important to all of you even if others don't understand it. I know it is very confusing to not find the news in the Alert section like it is always done. OpaQue was the one who had set up the news a day prior to the shift hoping that members might check the News section if it was not present on the forum.. I am sure you can forgive OpaQue for not submitting the topic in the Alerts section  Now, as members do not read posts nor do they need news below are bullet points for simpler and easier assimilation :- 1. There was no time to put up the topic. Period . 2. We knew that ComputingHost paid clients would view the xistosupport page after receiving their emails.... I am sorry if they are "elusive" 3. We merely expected the members to view the news section when they saw their sites were not working. The forum was down when the shift had begun, If I or OpaQue were expected to put up a topic on a website that was down... I am sorry that we failed to do so. We never knew that the forum was up because the only pages open on our computers were the server Cpanels and billing records of clients who were calling up or sending emails. 4. By the time we realized that the forum was up, we were already too deep into configuring the network. 5. OpaQue had no time to reply to topics in detail. 6. No one called it "free" you post for your hosting. 7. For the last time, you will be updated when the issue is solved. Till then stay away from your Cpanels and be patient. 8. Can't Login To Any Software On My Site
anyone know how to fix? (3) In a subdomain of my site I have an installation of MediaWiki, and until now it's been working

I Need Help With Setting Up My Site, Made Using Java

(1) I changed my domain from tf2maps.trap17.com to fearclan.trap17.com recently, and when I did,
everything was working fine, except cpanel became really ugly with this rvblue skin that I
couldn't change, and fantastico and phpmyadmin weren't working. Can I get my skin changed
from rvblue to somethiong better, say the one I had before? I think it was called cpanel mod x3 or
something. The frontend for rvblue is my cpanel ip:2082/frontend/rvblue/index.html But the one I
want is my cpanel ip:2082//frontend/x3/index.html which says 404 not found. I really want tha....
No Site Access
(4) It was working the day before yesterday and then it started giving me error messages about not being
able to access the site. I can't access cpanel either. Neither page ever loads. I don't

Can't Access My Site....weird Issue
(5) Okay, so last night everything worked fine. I loaded up cpanel, fixed issues with the site after the
database move, etc. Today I'm unable to load up the site. It just keeps giving me ping
timeouts. With what I'm being told by others it is only me having this issue with my site, and
yet there have been 0 changes to my pc between it working and not. I have tried multiple times
during the day with no luck. Along with this, if I load my website using a proxy service then I do
not have any issues. The only time it will not allow me to access it is if I am "using" my....

Cannot access webmail yet. (7) After all the troubles over the past week, I have everything set up, my access to MySQL databases
restored, however, I cannot access my webmail yet. I log in on the screen before you get the choice
which webmail to use (Squirrel, Horde or Roundcube), and when clicking on Horde I get "Login failed
because your username or password are incorrect", with Squirrel mail i get; "ERROR: Connection
dropped by IMAP server." and Roundcube (probably as the name implies) keeps going round in circles.
According to the opening screen of cpanel, I have 3 email accounts (as it should be)....
How Do I Find My Mysql Password? [resolved]
Cannot access my MySQL (5) After all the recent problems, my account has been restored. I have setup my parked domain agin, and
that works fine. However, I can no longer access my MySQL databases (I can from PHPMyAdmin, but
that's all). I had to create a new user for my databases, and created the user with exactly the
same username and password I had before, but some of my web pages do not let me access the pages I

Page Load Error When Accessing Cpanel

Very Disappointed With Data Center Migration
What do you think? (9) I am hopping mad. I have had nothing but grief since Trap 17 moved their Data Center (DC).
My site has been down more time than it has been up. I have had to contact Live Support at Xisto 4

Remote Access Mysql
(8) Is it possible to directly access my local database from my website? For example, if somebody
submits info on my website, the info they submitted would be transferred to my local database
directly. Is that possible? And if so, how do I set that up? The reason I don't want to upload
my database to my subdomain is because it would be difficult to keep the website database and my

Issues Uploading A File [resolved]
(3) Hi there. I have been trying to upload a zip file only about 2mb to my account through CPanel.
First I tried uploading it to a new folder in public_ftp. Then i tried to put it in the main part
of public_ftp. I also tried the same thing in public_html. It shows the file being uploaded, and i
get 100 %, but alas, when i look in the folders nothing is there. Is there a restriction on .zip
files? I have had no problems as of yet uploading htm and html pages. Please let me know ASAP.

Unable To Replace .png File In Directory
Can't even delete it using Cpanel (7) I can't delete a little file using file manager in Cpanel. I'm trying to delete a .png
image, actually, I'm trying to replace it. The response comes back as a success, but when I
reload my site it's still there. Then I go back to the file manager and go up a level, then back

My Site Fails To Load

Where Does That Noise Come From?
My Trap 17 web site beeps (6) I am posting this here rather than in the 'Web design' topic as it seems to be something
which happens exclusively to my Trap 17 web site. When i have my web site open, which you can find
here , every so often (quite regular actually) a short and high pitched beep is sounded. At first I
thought it had something to do with my sound card or my PC, but recently I discovered it only
happens when I have my site open. It does not matter which page of the site I have open, or whether

Site Back Online, But....
Works on anyone's machine but mine. (20) I got a reply from Xisto today that my site was up and running again. Yet, when I surf to it, it
will not load, also, my email client keeps telling me the POP3 server (the one related to my domain)
timed out. My Cpanel will not open neither. On my son's laptop (on the same network, hence same
IP address) the site loads immediately. Has anyone got any idea what the problem my end could be?
