Can We Send Sms From Our Server Using Php

Dear friends

I know the program to send emails using php. But I always wonder how,  companies provide the facility to send free SMS through their sites. Can you people help me with some codes in PHP which can be used to send SMS through our sites. Like sending emails  is it free to send SMS or we need some registrations etc. with some body. Specifically I would like to know about India.

You have to pay for the sms you send. If you are trying out on your own, you need a mobile phone with some hardware. You cannot send for free this way. Your balance in the mobile is charged for every message you send. So if your provider gives free sms to send, then you can do so. One of my friends has set up such a system where in he connects his mobile to some hardware which in turn is connected to PC. So, he can send and recieve messages through PC. He uses it for sending bulk messages. If you are interested in doing so, I can ask him more information about it and how to go about setting up one. Let me know.

Update: I asked him about this, you basically need to connect your Phone to PC and use a software to take control of the mobile to send messages. There are many software to send messages through PC, like this one. Is this a solution to your needs? I think you want it some other way. He also told about SMS gateway to send through web. May be you can browse the web to get more info on how to go about it.

    On my Trap17 account here, I have an .htaccess file with the following declaration which (I think)
    forces all html files to be parsed by the PHP Parsing engine and therefore I can insert snippets of

    Well, my topic title is pretty descriptive. Does GD use much server ressources, is it heavy to run,
    or is it light and flawless just like a normal PHP script? If I use GD much, should the images be
    cached? And by the way, I don't know how to cache images. I know how to create them, but I
    can't manage to store them in a folder, and then check that folder to see if the file is already
    cached. If it's not, the PHP script will create it.....

    My Webpage If you check here in my site in my Login block called "user info" at the bottom it
    tells u the "server time". Well that server time for me is wrong. This is what is displayed QUOTE
