The french get to research and experiment on making a new kind of nuclear reactor! they get to make the reactor called the ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor).
"It aims to mimic the way the sun produces energy, potentially providing an inexhaustible source of low-cost energy using seawater as fuel."
Japan and France have argued over where the reactor should be built while other partners have clashed over funding. interesting i think!

Wow,,,that was really interesting but, where is the location? I think this is one of the big project for them, do you think it will help us if we have this nuclear reactor?

I think for that...
Arnel, as serverph said above, the thing is to be built at Cadarache, south-east France. This is expected to be a research project, so you shouldn't benefit direct results before years.
Now that would be great. Firstly they will help with changing the world from non-renewable resources to renewable resources. Also making power cheaper and making life better for most.
In the long run when the power does become cheaper we will start getting slight decreases in prices and such, but then again with oil prices increasing we will soon seeing a great price increase.
This is the beginning of a new era. If only America and other countries would follow, not saying america is bad and all. This only because they produce alot of polloution everyday compared to other countries.
If only more countries would also move from non-reneable resources to renewable to help make the world a better place.
Physicists working in the United States believe they have cracked an important problem facing man-made nuclear fusion, touted as the cheap, safe, clean and almost limitless energy source of the future...
Nuclear fusion is the same process used by the Sun to radiate energy. In the case of our star, hydrogen atoms are forced together to produce helium. On Earth, the fusion would take place in a reactor fuelled by two istopes of hydrogen -- deuterium and tritium -- with helium the waste product...
Deuterium is present in seawater, which makes it a virtually limitless resource...
one hurdle down, hundreds... thousands... more to go? hope mankind and the collective brainpower of its geniuses be able to complete this in our lifetime -- million of years even before oil is completely depleted worldwide.
I have been following nuclear fusion for a while. To me it really seems like it is the solution to many of the earths problems. There are many benefits. With it you could end polution and bring power to developing countries. Hopefully nuclear fusion reactions will be completed soon. I look forward to seeing the world when they are being used.
Very interesting, what caught my eye was this "To do so the installation will produce 500 MW of fusion power during pulses of at least 400 seconds." Technically how are they going to produce that much power in that amount of time in the water. Have they even thought this out? Please help me understand how they will Do that!!! Thanks
Amazing the things people are comming up with and creating imagine what its going to be like in 20 years? salt water reactor based energy sites and hydro-electric cars (that the public can get for a good price).
it uses isoptopes of hydrogen from sea water right? now i know theres a lot of sea water but at one point there was a lot of oil...what happens if we use this power for thousands of years? then we get deserts instead of seas. what i dont understand is why they dont use a hydrogen engine to make energy then give off water, split the water into oxygen and hydrogen and reuse it...
Anybody ever wondered about this? Green plants undergo photosynthesis to produce oxygen. In the
process, water is splitted through photolysis and this results in production of two hydrogen atoms
and one oxygen atoms. The oxygen is released, and hydrogen combined with carbon dioxide to form
carbohydrate. My idea is to trap the hydrogen before it is used up and funnel it to a storage tank,
which then can be burnt to generate electricity. Theoretically, this could be done but then tiny
nanoscopic devices will need to be integrated into the photosynthetic cells itself. The....
Hi I was at a bar about a month ago and this has been nagging me for a while now. A lot of games
seem boring or rather lack the energy some people like. Hockey is ok but has low stores, and
sometimes the action goes back and forth like a tennis match. Soccer is a high energy game and very
interesting. Football is very popular. Anyways I am thinking of a new sport that consists of many
things that may gain the interest of sports fans. The base idea stays very close to soccer but
with a lot of differences. Now there will be a soccer type ball as apposed to a football o....
Has anyone heard of this new machine? I guess scientist all over the world have been working on
stuff like this for a century. I tried to look up on the net the exact machine and scientist I saw
in a magazine earlier this week... Basically, it's like Back to the Future. There is a machine
now that you can put any trash in, or anything for that matter except nuclear waste, it heats the
trash to a high degree breaking all molecular bonds and creating ethanol, hydrogen and other forms
of fuel. The only problem is a toxic bi-product that looks like obsedion rock whic....
hey,i wanted to know what you guys/girls think is the best energy drink Monster?Full throtle?Red
Bull? personally i have only had monster red blue and green and i was wondering which i should try
next or if i should just stick to monster lol ya i know kinda a wierd topic but anyway what do you
think is the best?....
If you all haven't heard, there's a new energy drink on the market called Cocaine. It's
been all over the news recently because of it's high levels of caffeine (I think it was 285
milligrams per can, which is like 3 times as much as Monster and Red Bull.) And since that rapidly
increases heart rate, there's concern that it may cause numerous heart attacks. More off-topic
though, 711 just told its franchises to take it off the shelves because they thought the name
Cocaine was objectable, and since this stuff is only sold in 6 states , it's all ove....
Why not have dynamos attached to axles of vehicles? Rotating motion + dynamo = electricity
/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Or maybe a new
innovation to charge your cellphone battery while a machine sucks your fat away. Or maybe a dynamo
in your shoes. Interesting possibilities, don't you think? ....
Im not sure how many of you know the geography of New Zealand but basically its 2 islands, in
between them is the Cook Strait. In the news recently some guy had an idea to put mini fans
underneath the Cook Strait, it would generate enough energy to power our capital city (Wellington)
(The amount of water that is pushed between the Cook Strait is huge) I think this is a good way to
generate electrity, your not damming anything - ruining its look, you could put them undernearth
powerful rivers and people wouldnt notice. Your opinions on this?....
I am an engineering student and this is a project I am working on now. I conceived the idea a couple
of years ago and the project is finally getting some headway now. My paper has received some very
encouraging responses from international conferences and is pending for publication in IEE. I am
happy to share it here, and I will try to give the basic idea in the simplest way possible, keeping
out technical overtures. Here we go..With the world exhausting its current reserve of fossil fuels
at an astronomical speed at one hand, but growing even more energy hungry at the ....
Hi guys, The desperate hunt for alternative energy sources has been on ever since our geolists
figured out how grim a situation we're headng for once we exhaust our supply of fossil fuel
(which is estimated to be soon - and we'll see the first signs of it within the next 25 years).
Amid this grim scenario, this little innovation might provide us with the much sought after ray of
hope - an inexhaustible source of energy which is so efficient that it can produce upto 1000 times
the energy contained in fuel. Jean-Louis Naudin - an independent researcher from F....
If you look around yourself and things that happen you realize, that everything is in an unusual
order (after fall comes winter, after day comes night,...). Is the source of this order purely and
eniterly material or is there something else that puts things in order? I personaly think that
there is something more than just our material world and the world of feelings (i mean the 5 major
organs of sense and our emotions). I think that there is some sort of PURE GOOD outthere (that could
also be called God or something else-it doesn't matter) and this pure good is t....
I have nothing against teachers coz for one thing my mother is one but then again occasionally you
end up in a class where the teacher is soo ridiculously boring that by just looking at him it's
as if you are being drained of all your energies too. He told us once that our class is his first
class of the day and that's at 5:30 - 6:30 pm. It beats me though why it seems like he's
been tired when he doesn't even do anything the rest of the day. I may sound a bit cruel but
it's not him being boring that annoys me it's his way of telling the les....
1. Start out with a new 250x250 image. Choose a white background. Then press D on your keyboard to
reset the colors. 2. Go to filter > render > clouds 3. Now go to Filter > Pixelate > Mezzotint.
Select long lines from the drop down menu. 4. Next go to Filter > Blur > Radial Blur. Choose 100,
zoom, and best. 5. Finally, to add some color, go to Image > Adjust > Hue/Saturation. You can do
this quickly by pressing Ctrl+U. You can adjust the colors there. Make sure you check "colorize".
Seems some of the images don't work....
When I feel the need to stay up all night, and listen to booming techno and the sounds of my enemies
being blown to bits, I keep myself up with Bawlz. Its the greatest. What is your favorite energy
drink for those alte night LAN parties? Some great recipes: Red Bull (1pt) Cactus Cooler (1pt)
Bawls (1pt) Margarita Mix(1/8pt)....
