Marapets does have an infestation of chatspeak using newbs. But then again, so does neopets. Although I used to play on neopets, it now actually seems boring compared to mara. On marapets, you get to have and trade lots of pets, unlike the four you could have on neo. You also get a character, which you can dress up and do hair and whatnot. You get clubs, like guilds, but more fun because you can make your own layout and have quizzes with actual prizes. People who say that its a copy of neopets need to realize this- alot of sites are similar to neo. But neo wasnt necessarily the first one, it was just the most popular. Besides a few commonalities, mara is much different than neopets. I have been a member for more than a year and a half, and I have never gotten bored with it. Although it isnt as advanced as neo, it is much funner and less upgrades-orented. There are AUs, but its not like neo where if you want most cool things, you need to buy account upgrades. They are mainly for just fun things that make mara slightly easier and the buyer richer on mara. It is fun for all ages and I give it a 10/10.

It is evident that Marapets has countless problems. I have played in both Marapets and Neopets for a long time. A little over a year in Marapets and I have to say, ZacN is not at all far from the truth. You only need to go to Yahoo Answers and search for the words "Marapets Down" to see how many results come on. The site might be free to play on but with the large amount of players on it there needs to be a reliable (paid for) TEAM of administrators to take care of errors and glitches. I have seen obscene posts in the public forums go for hours and hours without being deleted because even though they are reported, the post can not be deleted unless a staff member is present. I have seen people advertising other pet sites in the forums, and the user and posts were not removed. People violate rules in a massive way and as long as they are not too obvious they can get away with it for days, weeks and even months! I have found that their pet name filter is very lame, very often can pets be found with obscene names just as well. Don't say that Ian does not need to hire people to work if he doesn't want to, according to the laws a site where there are children playing on there needs to be the proper team of administrators to keep them safe otherwise the site could be in jeopardy with the law.

The site is free to play on, but so is Neopets and so is Kuepets, Powerpets, Zetapets, etc. There is such thing as people who pay "upgrades" or "donation" packages to keep the site going. I wish I could say the site is a reliable place to play on. The staff is lazy, so lazy that they engage in gossip in the adult forum and they slack on their duties. They often get into "cat fights" in the adult forum rather than tending to their responsibilities. The staff (admins) in Marapets are not being paid for what they do. So technically they do not have to work if they don't want to. Meanwhile they keep the blue star and harass members as they please. Such is the case that someone was posting offering help in a forum and he was told his post was negative and that it was a pain to deal with in the public adult forum. Such thing could have been said in a private message to the user. The person then asked if the admin had something against him, and the admin said she was tired of all the havoc he created in the boards. However the most I remember were mostly complaints usually no different from what I am saying here: server errors, glitches, people losing marapoints here and there, etc. If a troublemaker is friend's with the admin, the admin takes that person's side forgetting that they have a job to meet. I do not have a problem with them being staff but if they were given the privilege of holding the admin tag and a blue star which gives them freedom to generate points in the game as they please what are they doing goofing off in the forums? Nobody has ever come forward to talk about how petty the situation is with admins in marapets but it is. They basically run the place and Ian is usually in the background letting them do whatever they please and he doesn't get involved. As a matter of fact they violate users privacy by reading their messages, to the point of the fact that my account is at this point in jeopardy because I am opinionated. If you want your account in good standing, do not question staff (admins) but if you do, be ready to lose something like a very powerful pet, a large sum of marapoints or expensive items you may have gathered for a long time.

There is such LONG list of things that need improvement in Marapets, in which 1/2 of them call for a reliable team of paid for specialists that this page is not even long enough to list them but if you don't believe me, create an account, be there for at least one year or so. Try to see if you're going to go beyond questioning a staff member about anything they do, specially when it involves punishing or banning someone they plain just don't like. You'll see why there are so many people who leave the site really angry.

Marapets is a good site. I dont like the part where parents have to fax a signed letter to get the young acc. upgraded to everything because not everyone has a scanner. Some don't even have email. Everything else is good with the site except that they promise to much and it takes forever for the "promised things" to come out. I wasn't coming on marapets for a while because Ian kept promising the undying festival, but it never happened. So i come back on and it was already in the second week of it and Im like "finallly!" I didnt feel like participating at this point. Oh yeah. They never even had the Marapets Olympics. Why advertise it and never do it? Thats something that I dont like about the site. They promise and it either takes forever or it never comes out. Yeah I know they were updating the site at that time, but dont say anything about stuff while your updating because you get your users mad and they wont come on anymore. I think they need to make more pets that arent limited edition though and those that are limited edition they need to have more missions for like the Chibs, Lati, and Ercuw. I do like this site and appreciate the efforts that Ian, Laymay, and the crew have put into the site.

I played both, and I prefer marapets. Easier, friendly too. Maybe some people just like the harder online games, and not so friendyly. I love marapets, I didn't allow my daughter to play in neopets I allowed her in marapets, and I'm taking the resposibility for my kid. Like, no forums, no clubs, no mm other players. So just stop, ian worked really hard on marapets, just appreciate, don't judge.

Ok. First of all the stupid 10 year olds that are complaining about Marapets because its harder then clicking an Ad or Buying a  Fluffy toy, Shut it. Marapets is a game of Experianced players who Know what they are doing. In Mara if you try and earn Mp buy playing some baby games then you are at a loss. Marapets is 200x better than neopets for many reasons.This information is all true.

 1.) Mara doesn't lie. Some time in 2003 the Neopolian times said something about a Mis-firing Lab Ray that made Pets stats drop. That was a lie. A hacker caused it. I was there and my pets stats were lowered and thay never raised it again.

 2.) Mara is fair to all players. Neo likes some players over others and those certain players get all the perks in Neo. Sometimes, If the Neo team finds a player to rich, they will ban the account for no reason (not kidding)

Urban Dictionary's Defination for Neopets:

 An online game that started out good, like Pokemon but now is horribly bad.

Now if You'll excuse me, I'm going to play Marapets

1.5 out of 5 come on man it's not that bad. It looks kind for simple for us but you have to look from a 13 year old kid's eyes.
I like it, simple, the colors and artwork is nice, easy to use, with some funny games.
I give it at least 3.3 out of 5.

I like marapets but I have no idea about neopets. I've visited the site but it looked too boring to sign up. Mind you when I got on it, it was actually written in CHINESE! One bad thing about marapets though is it has been 24 hours and they still haven't  gave me excess to forums or anything like that--clubs, maramail, things like that. What do I do?

I've played Marapets for just shy of a year and a half now. Yes somtimes the site goes hay wire with glithes or sever errors. How ever for a site run by a young adult it funtions very well. As for the admins I find they do they job when ever I have needed them.
