Ok, well I've started a very contravershal (excuse my spelling) topic, and I wish first of all for nobody to loose them temper or for nobody to post any thing that will offend someone of another religion, it's not here to knock each other, I just would like to see how different religions feel about the world, and the other religions around them.. so let's have a nice, friendly, peaceful debate huh..?? Ok, so first of all, I'm a Tibetan Buddhist, urm - I'm a teen, I live in Great Britain.. So i'm fairly isolated, because very few others seem to be buddhists anyway, but especially not the tibetan variation. Unlike regular buddhism, I dont believe in complete no violence, I believe very strongly in the principle of self defence, but other than that, I dont believe that there is need for violence. I guess the reason I brought this up, is that in our school religious studies, the topic came up about abortion, and different stand points, and as always, Buddhism seems very nuetral, but what I dont understand why we all argue so much?? It seems such a strange concept.. religions all arguing and fighting -- there is no need for it in my opinion. The way I see it is that we all have one aim - we all have something that we want to do, and we do it because we believe it to be right .. so what does it matter what John down the road is doing.. or what people in the next town think?? I dont see why everyone seems to need to shout there views about and argue all the time, I know this is a really 'touchy' topic, and I'm trying my best not to offend anyway (hopefully no one has been offended), but I just dont see everyone can't just get on with what they believe in, and stop trying to make others see there way. Think of it like someone with music.. if they like 80's metal, and you want them to like R&B and you tie them to a chair and play the heaviest R&B you can find continuously, there not about to start liking it, but if you just leave them to get on with things, and introduce them to pieces of it bit by bit you have more chance of winning people over... I've never once preached about Buddhism, if anyone asks me a question, then i'll answer it, but I'll never try and make someone see from my point of view and I would like others to do the same.. So my hope is in a world that Catholics, Protestants, Muslims and Jews can all devote their lives togeather, follow their own principles and get on.. without fighting and debate and problems... So there it is, again I'm not knocking anyone's religion, and I'm not saying that God doesn't exsist or anything like that, i completely respect everyone's views, I just dont think it's right that religion, something that is supposed to bring us all togeather for the better of the man kind should cause so many problems around the world... so there we are.. I'll apoligise if I have offended anyway, it wasn't intentional.. So please, let the world know what you think on this delicate topic (not that I believe it should be)... Thanks

These problems aren't really that big of a problem; when compared to other problems. Though, before we can talk about one thing, we have to do research on it. I have a quote that you might find interesting, QUOTE If you are neutral in a situation of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has his foot on the tail of the mouse, and you say you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality. There are arguments for a reason. Once we understand the reason for these arguments, we can better comprehend the actions that come from them. You have to be willing, and look at the world in the other person's view. There is little neutrality, if not, none in certain things. I believe it is (almost) impossible to be neutral. But we are looking at arguments that may have, or may promote bad outcomes. Many arguments are there to promote a change for the good. If saving a life means arguing with someone, then i'm all for it. Many religions argue (debate) in this way -- in hope for the better. Just like this topic might have been made for . Though, some arguments may get out of hand, that may have not been the intention. QUOTE follow their own principles and get on.. In Islam, we see that a Muslim should spread the truth and not keep it hidden (Sura 2:42). This may contradict some Christian beliefs. In Christianity, we see that Christians are told to something similar (Matthew 28:19-20). Again, depending on how these things are done, may cause conflict. We can all agree on many things, but not everything.

That's a very good point, I never thought about it like that. Thanks True fusion.. I guess it's just case that everyone is trying to create what they believe to be the best outcome, and I suppose there just isn't enough space/time for everyone to do the same, so in some cases a clash is going to happen.. Thanks mate that's a nice way to look at things...

Well I agree with you on this belief. Religion should bring us together and not separate us. There have been just as many wars waged in the name of God, as Allah. To me one war over religion is too many. I do also agree with you truefusion that everyone is hoping for the best outcome, however I think that by clashing about it is not what I would call the best outcome. This is something I've always believed in, "All Religion is is just words. Sticks and Stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me." Ok...hopefully I haven't offended anyone and if I did I didn't mean it intentionally.

Religion And Science
Is Science Making God A Thing Of The Past? (2) Although science continues to advance to explain otherwise religiously explained ideas, I believe

A True Religion?
A religion that has scientific facts in its scriptures (21) You might have heard a lot of people going on about how their religion is true but I'm not going
to rant on about anything, I'm just going to tell you the straight-forward facts. The Qur'an
has many scientific truths that have only been proven to be correct recently. This is truely a
miracle in my eyes, so please go on to this website and read about 'em now!

What's Patriotic
What do you consider Patriotic? (12) What do you consider patriotic? To me it is someone who doesn't blindly follow the government. I
see a patriotic person as someone who does something for the best interest of the people. I also
believe fighting back against bad government and police states is patriotic. I do not think a
criminal is a patriot, but someone who will fight for freedom and questions evil policies set by
government. I am also not saying government is bad, but in some cases I believe a true patriot would
stand up for a majority of the people. An example of what i am talking about is if our ....
Judging Religions By The People
(14) I Think that judging a RELIGION by the POEPLE that follow it is negative. If I saw a person who
called themselves a "Christian" walking down the street, i would not say that Christianity is a bad
religion because of that one person (who might not even be practising the religion in the firs t
place) So regardless of what Osama Bin Laden (I hate him too), Al-Qaeda Etc., Etc. what do you
think about Islam? Do you think it is a true religion? I do Do you think that Islam is a religion od
peace? It does come from the root word "salaam" which means "peace" I don't want t....
Religion And Terrorism
Debate (14) Starting off, to be quite honest, I'm so sick to death about hearing about terrorist attacks
occuring overseas. For example, a recent one was reported on tv that authorities had arrested 20
muslims. Before some people go on about how this religion is bad, and what they are doing is wrong,
and so forth, pretty much every religion has their type of weirdos and crackheads. In many cases,
religion is not what fuels the fire, its those that are really greedy within the ranks, you got
hitler and his dislike for jews, the czaars in Russia, and so forth. It seems that man....
Religions And Atheism
...atheism _is_ a religion (25) During the last couple of weeks, I have noticed that there are some people in this community who
reply to posts dealing with religions that they are "not religious because they are atheists and
don't believe in God". In my opinion, this argument is inconsistent in two points: 1) By using
the term "God", these people miss the point that there are not only monotheistic religions but
also polytheistic religions like most nature-bound religions . 2) Atheists, though not as
well-organized as most religious people, do the same as religious people do - claim to have e....
My View on Religion
(17) LISTEN UP! everyone has different views about religion. I don't believe in religion myself.
but humans need religion as much as they need LOVE,family and a feeling of security. humans need
leaders to guide them,to assure them that they have a place in the world and in the world beyond.
they need something that will love them and be with them no matter what.every one needs a place to

Science V Religion
(5) Sorry if this may have been brought in the past, but it hasnt been up as of late, and I thought I
might start the discussion or get your thoughts on this. I've been born a catholic, but a
non-practising one. To be honest, I only attend church about twice a year (Easter/Christmas).
Personally, I think there is nothing that any religion has to offer. Is god is a mere word? a word
that gives great amount of hope to people when needed. Because by the sound of it, 'God'
could be just a world that implies 'hope' to many people, nothing more. After rec....
The Nature Of Religion
Origins, former use, and modern application (9) I beg and plead, before proceeding, the reader to keep an open mind in thinking upon or posting
anything here. Religion is obviously a strong force in the world, and it has been for a long time.
However, I have three questions about religion, upon each of which I shall give my own answer, in
hopes of hearing others: What is the origin of religion? What has been the use and purpose of
religion? Ideally, what ought to be the nature (perspective, application, or otherwise) of religion
in the modern world? The Origin of Religion The first humans on earth were ver....
A World Without A Religion?
(283) A world without religion? I was thinking about it and thought, you know, i think
it would be better. Here are my reasons. The biggest change in the world would be less wars. Think
about it. Most wars are start because of religion. One of the reasons people came to America back in
the 1700s was because they wanted freedom of whatever religion they wanted. Another great thing
that would come about it would be that laws would be made on what is actually bad. For example, the
most well known mostly religious law is the banning of gay marriage. I don'....

What Is The Main Difference Between Religions?
(9) Well, I think that all the religions of the world share a few similar and most important
concepts! There is no religion that would try to convince that doing BAD is acctually good and
vice-versa. I think the main difference is in the word that is used for some sort of divine being
(god, pure good, alah, whatever u name it...) that represents the highest good to all of them. I
think that a mountain is a very good example to explain how these religions are connected: There are
inumerable ways to the top of the mountain and each of this ways is a certain religion but al....
