It Really Is A Small World - Coincidences you have experienced that prove it.

Mich
Have you ever experienced a coincidence that made you realize what a small world this can be? If you have let us know. Here are a couple of mine.

I was working in a small hospital in Onekama, Michigan and knew a doctor there from a near-by smaller town, Bear Lake. This doctor went out to Las Vegas. While he was gambling at a slot machine he struck up a conversation with a man at the slot next to his. They exchanged the information that the doctor was from Michigan and the other man from Califronia. The other man asked the doctor where he was from in Michigan since he had a daughter living there. The doctor told him where he lived and the man asked if that town was anywhere near the town his daughter lived in. "Yes, answered the doctor, who is your daughter?" Guess what folks, it was my father using the slot next to the doctor. Was I ever surprised when the doctor got back from his trip and looked me up to tell me that he had talked to my father in Las Vegas. I could hardly believe it. What a coincidence that they would run into each other in a town of that size, having never met before.

Another one happened right here on Trap 17. I noticed a member was from the same area in California that I was originally from. Asked the member a little more about things and found that he attends the same High School that I attended. Me in Michigan and he in California, with all the millions of sites and forums on the iternet, we ran across each other right here on Trap 17.

Once I traveled to malaysia, and there I found, at the same hotel that I was staying in, my schoolmate from a long time ago, I couldn't remember her because she was different, in fact she remembered me. Between all the people and hotels in malaysia, I found my schoolmate. That is a creepy thing.
Another time while going to the supermarket, I found three of my friend, then I found my piano teacher, then my sister's friend. It was a really strange coincidence, but since I live in a very small country than these kind of coincidence happens to me all the time.

I joined VAMPIREFREAKs... whic is some gothic community profile thing.. and I started talking to someone and we got on VERY WELL.. we had tons and tons in common and then another person I got talking to was really nice too.. and we just chatted for quite a bit and talked about our schools and friends...
AND when we asked eachother where we lived.. we weere both like London.. and then we narrowed it down to the same town...same area... and I found out they lived just down the road!
They went to my old bestmate's secondary school, in her class... I mean what a coincidence!!!
BOTH of those people knew eachother and they both lived 5 minutes from me.. and now I just hang out with them and stuff...
WHo could have known?

Somebody I didn't know, who just happens to be attending the same high school I went to. If you read the third reply, maybe you can figure out who it is. cool.gif

Whoa..I experienced stuff like that aswell. You know what livejournal is, right? There's this friend list which connects you to others and lets you read their journal. One can make offline friends join you, but you can also meet new people ofcourse. And..lately I've been seeing my LJ friends walking around me in real life too. I had no idea that they visited this place aswell, some of them were actually sitting in front of me in the metro, standing in the queue in a shop or taking classes with me! O_O I don't post my personal pictures up on the internet, but they do. So they didn't recognize me ofcourse, but instead I wás thinking 'Oh my gosh...he is my online friend...O__O/' but in real life I've been way too shy to actually walk up to those people, say hi and tell them I'm ink, and that we have talked online and stuff x3

Call it what you will – coincidence, serendipity, fate – sometimes events conspire to show us this is indeed a small world. We’ve probably all had at least one experience where we’ve said “What a coincidence!” because there’s no logical explanation for what has happened.

This is a great topic, Mich because it is, indeed, a small tiny little world. Everything we do comes around no matter if we're doing it on line or off. In the industry I work in, telecommunications, I bump into people I've worked with before all the time, sometimes I even bump into people who graduated from the same high school as me and more than once I've bumped into one of my old classmates. In my world, sometimes you're the boss, and sometimes you're the subordinate so it always pays to treat people with fairness, respect, and high regard because you never know... that person could be your boss one day. I've only once burned a bridge behind me in my professional life and it'll never haunt me, but usually it pays to leave a job on the best of terms with everyone because your reputation follows you where ever you go and just when you least expect it, it'll be waiting at the door to opportunity before you get there. Your reputation proceeding you could open doors or keep them closed. And watch how you drive or just behave in general in public, that old lady you just cut off could be someone who knows your momma or something! They say there's only six degrees of separation in the world which means that I know someone who knows someone who knows someone... (six times) who knows your momma. That's the true definition of a small world!
