| | I'm just wondering. I've quite school (In the 5th grade, about 4-5 years ago) and I haven't been back. And now I'm starting to want to. Not just because of the future, but because I think it would be good for me. But where do I start? |

I guess it depends on how old you are. Sometimes there's schools that have an acceleration program. Maybe you can complete your high school graduation in fewer years than the typical 4 years or so. There's always a GED. I thought some how the government will get onto you or someone about you not going to school....

Well first off how old are you? I quit school when i was in the 11th grade but went back a year later to graduate.
You will probably have to either go to an "adult" or continuation school. You won't be able to get back into regular school because usually they wouldn't allow someone so advanced in age to go back that far. My suggestion would be to go to your local community/junior college and start off there.
Yea and if you can get your GED, you need to do that too. Many college wont take you if you dont have your high school diploma or a GED. But dont give up.
In some countries, there is a system of 'education outside the school'....where you only go to class on Sat (age doesn't matter there)..And you learn at home for the rest of the week. Then....you can take their exams..which would give you equivalent qualification (as if you have finished school). So instead of spending for example 3 year at highschool (or secondary school), you could finish it in a year and a half if you pass their exams.
The pros of this would be that you can go to Uni, and...you won't be too old in comparison to other students (as you did high school in less time.) Of course, the cons would be that you would miss all the benefits you could get in school (like activities etc). Still, this would be useful if your school don't accept you back. Good luck
So normally, if you hadn't gave up on school.. you would probably be in the 10th grade, right? So you would be around the same age as me.. which is 14-16 range. Not that I would know much, but if you want to make a decent amount of money.. real estate is easy, and doesn't require much education. I'd recommend looking into it. Or, if you have any cool talents, you can better them and turn it into a career!
Going back to school is also an option. My grandpa told me that its harder to learn as you grow older.. but you know they most when you're the oldest. Anyway, you could also get real fit and join the military. Finaly, first things first would be to get a high school diploma. It's real basic.. and it opens a small room of oppurtunities. Then hopefully you'll realize what you want?! hehe. thats a lot coming from a 14 year old /w a plan. good luck!
I'm 15 so I guess I'd be in 9th or 10th grade (I lost track). I don't think college if for me. I figure I might go to adult school thing with my sis (If they let me). Would it be real hard to just do it myself? Online I mean. There might be some kind of forum or group I could find. Is a GED almost the same as a highschool degree?
I didn't realize it was possible to quit school that early...haha
As for me, it's sorta too late for me to quit now. I'm just a few months away from getting my high school diploma, so screwing up now would just make my stint in public education a complete waste... After that, it's on to college, and that's too expensive to quite
wasi, a GED is the equivalent of a high school diploma, I would recomend getting it, if you live in america you will recevie 500 bucks if you pass it for a start to college.
It just kind of happened. Actually I think I might have slipped through the crack.

not a drop out
Quitting School... I'm ending my junior year by getting my GED so I can go to college early. I have a 4.0 and am currently at a college prep school and taking 5 AP classas. I'm not dropping out, my school just doesn't allow me to graduate early. This is the only option I really have but I'm still going to make the most of it.
Leaving the school is regular in my country. The students leave the school because they said there are no money to go on. But by experience I know today that this is only an excuse to justify their frustation because there is not money to study but there are to buy beers and get drunk three times a week. I think there isnīt anything wrong in leaving the school if you have study or arenīt interested in a proffession.
But you have to work then. I have a friend who left the school two years ago. He was all day browsing in the internet, downloading movies, in others words doing nothing. I tried to gave him some useful tips to superate his conduct. But he is in the same work until today: playing gamecube, browsing internet, watching T.V. all day. So what I am trying to say is that you can quit the school but with a purpose because the "lazy life" can trap you if you are not ready. But I want to tell to everybody that the school is one of the best things in the world. DONT QUIT TO THE SCHOOL!
I quit school. It's not something I'm exactly proud of, but I'm not ashamed of it either. Sometimes circumstances and life just get in the way of what we want to do. I'm currently in the process of acquiring my GED. A lot of people told me that I was too smart to not go after my GED, and I realize that it's essential if I want to get anywhere in life. I want to attend college someday so obviously I need the GED for that. I would never encourage someone to quit school unless there was something major going on in their life that warranted it. I don't regret dropping out but that is just because of my personal circumstances. Had things been different, I probably would have stayed in school. I had a lot of beefs with my school, and there were a lot of things going on in my life that made school very difficult to keep up with and just deal with in general. I would encourage anyone though to stick it out as long as they possibly can.
45 year old drop out.
Quitting School... Listen you guys, this is important. I googled dropping out of school for a whim and got this site. I dropped out of school when I was about 2months from graduating. I am now 45 years old. So let me tell you a few things from and old timer. I was very good in school. I liked to party and hang out with friends though. So that became more important. I now have four children. Their ages are from 25 to 8 years. Both the older children dropped out too. What could I say? I have a job. It pays me minimum wage, about $6.50 an hour. I don't have any insurance so theres alot of medical issues that I can't go to the doctor for. Some of them might be life threatening. But, I'm lucky I guess cuz I can't go to the doctor and find out. I have no dental insurance so when I have a toothache I just hope it goes away. If it doesn't, it costs me about $250.00 to go to dentist. That takes me a couple weeks to save up for. Ever have a toothache yet? Sorry to wander on and on, but look, you kids need to stay in school, as bad as it may seem, because you can't fix it later guys. Remember me when you're 45 and have an abcessed tooth, you'll wish you listened then. -reply by melissa |
