if your using the free hosting do you have to pay for your domains it says in the features that you get a sub or domain name for free Im just wondering thanks.

There are forums which award you with domains by posting there, check out google for some and I get one of my domain through forums... biggrin.gif

I called back and spoke to one of the Tech guys. He said the domain is actually registered in "their" name and I would have to go thru them to "point" the domain somewhere else. Otherwise it will be "parked" with them.

I then told him what the rep had said and that their advertising was mis-leading and they have to be responsible for what their reps tell
the public. I also told him I want to be listed as the Administrator.
And that I would never have registered this domain I consider very valuable under those circumstances.

Since the domain was just registered and hasn't propogated thruout the Internet yet (24 to 48 hours) ,the Tech guy can't access anything yet so I have to call him back. I will insist I be listed as Admin.

You can do a Who-Is search in a few days and see if I (Patrick McDermott) am listed as Admin

Excellent work for finding free domain name service! Although I wonder who was the initial poster of your quote?

I thought about getting a free domain name but I rather pay $4.98 per year (I made a posting to another thread http://www.trap17.com/forums/index.php?sho...ndpost&p=137329 regarding to this price and the registrar) to register and own it as mine rather than have some company hold my business name/company name as a collateral for postings on their forum. Call me lazy, but for quarrel.net in order to receive a free domain of *whatever*.com I have to earn Q$6,000. According to its site a posting or a review earns Q$2. That means I have to put up 3,000 posts per year to keep the name. I am willing to buy one less cigarette ($5.18 USD currently) to keep my domain name registered to me. wink.gif
What kind of nonsense would be filling the forum if one person has to post 3,000 per year and multiply that by all active users? Gees... I can see THAT forum going down the tube really fast.

I rather have free hosting service over free domain name. We should start a poll, don't you think?

It's going to expire in September of this year, and they will start charging me if I don't cancel (which I will), but I got one for free.

The reason why it was free is that way back in September of last year, .info domain names were new, and http://domainsite.com and many other sites were promoting .info domain names by giving them away to users for free. I was one of the lucky people who got the offer. A lot of other people got the offer, and they were pretty greedy (registered the max allowed - 25). If I had thought about batch registering, I could have registered some awesome names, and I would have been rich. Darn. sad.gif

Well, Quarrel.net actually awards member for activity and dont really wanted to earn from hosting... The admin of the forum has a huge number of websites and you can check out his hosting site: http://www.neonhq.com

I remember there's 1 site which is a vBulletin forum which offers you free domain names with some points which I forget how much... I also forget the site however I believe I can still find it... I didnt take down the site url because at that time the number of stock left for the domain is out of stock...

    but i want more then just 1... so lets say i have 1234.be 4321.be blabla.be wassie.be and i want
    them all to redirect to my site. so when you go to 1234.be you go to www.wassie.trap17.com same with
    the others. But i also want to be able just to go to www.wassie.trap17.com. the domains (.be) must

    I have a domain, but it's not exactly a TLD, uni.cc, but since I have a domain in Trap17, I have
    an option to having subdomains like subdomain.domain.uni.cc. Here's my question. I want to

    for paid hosting (the one with the IP address)? I been to uni.cc , .tk , and co.nr and it seems

    QUESTION ASKED TO ME A LOT OF TIMES ::: I have registered for the uni.cc domain name and i have
    also pointed the DNS to ns1.trap17.com and ns2.trap17.com but up till now, my website which i
    uploaded to my trap17 /www directory isnt showing. I dont know what have gone wrong. And what else
    do i need to do? I have tried to add the domain (www.odowebdesigns.uni.cc) to add-on domains or
    parked domains as spectre told me to do but it refused registering the domain telling me that the
    domain name is been used by another user and therefore cannot be created. What else do i ne....
