| | Yes I’m sure we all relate to the pain of rebuilding your failed c drive .. not fun .. usually takes me about 25 hours or so to load 25 programs and the data again.
Please never again; now I have a dual hard drive machine
2X 120 gig identical hard drives and ghost 9 to make a mirror ghost.
If c: drive fails I want to boot up from the ghosted drive
The ghosting seems to be complete with all the files, but when I make the ghosted drive the boot drive windows xp will not allow me to log in .. just keeps resetting to ask me to log in again and again.
Was thinking a xp repair might be in order.
I don’t care if I have to re-initialize my Microsoft office software, I just want to make sure this back drive loads
Can anyone help me here!!

Which software do you use to make ghosts??? I can't use my old software to make ghosts on XP. Please give me the name of the software and if possible the place where I can download it. Thank You.

that's not how you use the ghost image. you are supposed to back up your C: drive by creating an image file NOT an image drive. Save the image file to your D: drive but don't RESTORE it to your D: drive. Then, when your C: drive needs a fresh install... just restore the C: drive from the image file saved on your D: drive. I don't understand why you are doing it the way you are.. it doesn't make much sense to me. I used disk imaging software too and whenever I need to reinstall, it takes me about 15 mins only.

Yeah, that's right. But which software to use for it? The old norton ghost I have doens't make images of XP. Infact the program doesn't even start.

get Acronis. That program is MUCH better than norton ghost. Acronis is 1. faster - in terms of both backup and restore 2. no need for boot disk - but it is an option 3. program is MUCH smaller - around 25 megs (norton is like 400 megs) 4. more flexible - norton ghost must restore to a drive with the same size while Acronis can do it to any drive easily 5. i think it is cheaper than norton too.. 6. both norton (v9 and up) and Acronis work with XP.

Can Acronis compress the drive contents? I mean when it makes a ghost does the ghost image siize reduce or is it the same as the drive size? Thank You.

'm glad i'm not the only one that is having this problem with norton ghost. i too have to problem of the non booting new drive, it gets to the welcome screen then the xp logo then nothing it just freezes. when i set up the copy i did check the "copy MBR" but to no avail not to mention having problems setting the jumper settings on my maxtor drives. I set them to what www.maxtor.com said but it still boots from my original drive unless i disconnect it all together than thats when i get the non booting problem. oh well heres hoping i fix it

Html Editors Seem 'persona Non Grata'.

have Dreamweaver CS. In both cases, when I am editing web pages, whenever I switch from one task to

(0) I decided that I would like to change the skin on my forum, which uses Invision Power Board. When
ever I try and import a .xml file for my skin images, it dosent work. It dosent make the image files
in the directory forums/style_images/Skin_name_image. It only add the directory of the name of the

Connection Problems
(5) Well, I am trying to do some work for a friend to help them get thier new Gateway Laptop they bought

Firefox Problems theme or addon diabled
(2) The usually excellent Firefox is annoying me. When ever I try & install a theme or add-on im
greeted with: 'Software installation is currently disabled. Click Edit Options to enable it &
try again' So off I go to edit options, & nowhere is there 'enable software
installation', ive looked through every menu on firefox & just cant find it. Where am I going

Having Problems Installing Apache2 On Linux
Any tux lovers to help me out? (2) I am installing Apache 2 on Ubuntu Linux 6.06 (downloaded appropriate binary), and have followed the
instructions from several places, including apach.org... I have got to the point where it says to
enter make , just after the ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache2 , where I also added
--enable-mods-shared=most , for the common options. That all went fine, took a little while, then
when it's done I am supposed to enter make , I presume to gather up all the newly created
files. This command just does not exist. returned bash error and it is not in the manual.....

these programs not working. Windows Vista is a new High end operating system pulling high system

Installed Xampp, But ...
there are a couple of problems with my Install. (3) Thanks to the tutorial here at the Trap17, I decided to install a copy of XAMPP on my Windows 98
Laptop so I could learn some more php coding without crashing the server on the Forum here. The

(4) I have a few questions about norton ghost 10, after having just installed it I noticed that I am now
using a lot more RAM and would like to know how to tell it not to start, because I don't use the
automatic backup feature (my backup medium is not always connected) Also when first make a backup

Flash & Download problems (4) I have problems with both IE and Firefox. IE always crashes or freezes on me all the time. When I
can actually use it, it never displays flash. Like if somone has a flash animation in their banner
it just shows a still picture. I went into the internet options and enabled flahs and stuff and it
doesn't show the animation. I even got the newest version of Flash. Firefox doesn't crash as
much as IE but it does from time to time. I have ran spyware and virus software and nothing comes

Internet problems...Help (4) Ok. so i had the internet explorer exploit thing that would give me like twenty pop ups when i used
IE. So i tried to get rid of it. Theres like twenty things that nortons cant erase. Adaware helps
and i had spybot but its f'd up now, And i have the demo of zone alarm. well the symantec
(nortons) site would tell you how to go into the registry to erease certain keys and stuff
associated with the spy stuff, but i didnt see the keys for the first few i tried so gave up
thinking that maybe they were already deleted or something. i dont know exactly when it started but

Has Anyone Used Norton Ghost?
(9) A friend of mine said that you can create a back up copy of your computer in using Norton Ghost,
using just a cd, if the computer crashes you just put the cd in and back to normal, but well I
bought Norton Systemworks 2004 and it came with Ghost, didn't even know I had it, but well now
I know I have it, so well got the computer cleaned of viruses, and other things, made a system
restore, and then used Ghost, but it was just a waste of a cd, didn't even burn 1% of the files
in the computer and the cd was fulll, su I just stopped the prosess, and started reading, ....
