I switched from Flash 8 to Flash MX 2004 pro today... Before I made a little website in Flash 8, and I thought I could open it in Flash MX 2004, but I think I've got a huge problem.
When I try to open the .fla file I made in FL8, FL MX gives an error which says: Unexpected file format. He can't open all the files I made in FL 8!!!!!!!!
I hope I have not lost them or anything, What can I do to make FL MX open them ????????
I hope there is something to do about it; anyone knows what to do? |

only some? make sure that those files are not corrupted in the first place. i would suppose flash mx would be backward compatible, so file corruption is the first thing i'd check. and if mx can open others, but not some, then it would just mean mx works, your file just don't.

Hmmm, I think you should try to save Flash 8 files into Flash 2004 format, or try saving your files in another format. Maybe that'll work. You can try to search google for help lol, if you can't find any other solution.

this has always been a problem with flash, you can olmost not switch between the different versions, usually only the one befor the new one.

hmmm...thanks! I searched on the internet, and yes, many say flash 8 files can't be opened in flash mx...But I'm going to try to safe those flash 8 files to flash mx 2004 files, so i'll have to reinstall fslah 8 again....:S i'll post to let know if it worked!

well, be more careful the next time, and it is made due to the constant changes that are made in each version. Because if you check the files and folders of the installation you could see that now the classes are divided for flash 7 and below and flash 8 as well as the player.

spy Charly, I'll do that. I didn't knew that. anyway...I tried to save the file to MX Flash files, It worked! Thanks Hell Raiser.. I do think it's a pity that Flash has this problem...can't they figure something out for this? I think Flash is a great program, but this open up files problem in a newer version sucks actually hahaha but Im glad it worked

How Do I Stream Videos On My Site With Macromedia Flash 8?

Macromedia Flash Player 8
Help installing it... (6) Four days ago I formatted my computer and have been installing all of my applications. I went to the
Macromedia site and installed flash player, and the movie is shown saying that it has installed
succesfully. However, if I go to a website that hosts flash player 8 content, It usually does not
display correctly and it tells me to go download the new player. No matter how many times I
re-install the player through the Macromedia website it does not "take". Any Ideas? Is there

Flash Media Not 64-bit Compatible
64-bit XP and Linux OS's won't run Flash (0) I got a new AMD Turion 64 laptop for Christmas. I installed Ubuntu Linux (64-bit version) and
started browsing with Firefox. When I got to a flash enabled site, I downloaded the plugin and as I
tried to install it, a dialog box popped up stating that flash does not support 64-bit operating
systems or something like that. Has anyone else had that problem? Is Macromedia going to make a
64-bit version?....

a lot of options and all other stuff. Creating a web site was never that easy. I created my web site
in just one week. Of course its not done jet but 55% of work is done. I love create flash animation

Ie And Firefox Crash
Flash & Download problems (4) I have problems with both IE and Firefox. IE always crashes or freezes on me all the time. When I
can actually use it, it never displays flash. Like if somone has a flash animation in their banner
it just shows a still picture. I went into the internet options and enabled flahs and stuff and it
doesn't show the animation. I even got the newest version of Flash. Firefox doesn't crash as
much as IE but it does from time to time. I have ran spyware and virus software and nothing comes
up. I dunno what the problem is. Also, whenever I download something on IE or Fire....

Garbage or not??? (1) EWell this is what i have and its not doing crap barely ever even removes viruses and it also comes
