| | My monitor just turned black and i can't even see a thing there.
i can see the yellowish light below the screen that its on but the screen is totally black.
just today, i have tried for 5 hours trying to google a solution
and so please please please any tip there is greatly appreciated.
i cant join the forum anymore once my sister arrive because this is really her desktop i'm using right now.  |

Before concluding that you need to get a new monitor, i will suggest a couple of things that you should test out before doing so: - Restart your computer (assuming the monitor is hooked into it). (Don't ask me why but this has solved my problem before when i turned on my computer without the monitor being hooked to it.)
- Plug your monitor into your sister's computer and see if it works there. If so, it could be your graphics card, operating system or motherboard (yes, i say this in order of priority).
- Plug your sister's monitor into your computer.
If none of these help or provide insight, and if all the pins on the end of the monitor port are still there, then it might then be safe to assume you need a new monitor or other hardware. However, you can wait to see what others have to say.

It works when i plug my monitor to my sister's computer. My sister said all i have to do is to clean my computer, take out those video card, memory card and clean it. and when i put it back, it now works fine. thanks  although i'm not sure whether its really fixed but it now works fine. I have backup my files now before it ruins everything.

When you face any problems like this or continuous restarting at sartup etc....first check the RAM modules. Remove the RAM clean it and install it again. Or change it from one RAM slot to another slot. Usually this will fix most problems.

Monitor Getting Switched Off
17 inch color monitor (6) i got a new computer recently and everything was fine , until one day suddenly while listiening to
songs my monitor got switched off and again wen i powered off the computer and when i turned it on
the monitor was ok , but again after some time the monitor got switched off and this problem is
continuing for a longtime till now , i contacted my dealer. The dealer said to change the CMOS
battery , i did and still the problem exists and again i contacted him and he said to reinstall the
video card , i did again the problem came , and he asked to remove all the magnetic dev....
No Monitor Signal After Power Surge
(7) Last Sunday we had a power surge due to a lightning that hit our house. Luckily everything is
physically intact. The problem is that some of our technological equipments have been fried. Two of
our TV's broke and my new tower that I built myself is not working anymore. To make long story
short, When I turn on my computer, the monitor is not showing any picture. I tried another monitor

Graphics Card/monitor Issue
(3) Alright, I'll stay by telling you what Graphics Card I have, so there's not confusing. I
have a RECENTELY purchased 258mb GeForce 5500 graphic card. I installed it on my computer, a long
with the drivers.. What I didn't do!; Stupidly enough, I never plugged my monitor into the
graphics card, ha. So for about 2 months I thought I was running a GeForce, when I was actually
running an Intel Extreme Graphics card, ya, don't ask me how I didn't notice. I figured
that out today when I tryed to play fable, and it yelled at me for not having a good enough....
Geforce Fx 5200 Problems
My monitor goes blank right as the Windows Welcome screen should appre (5) I hadn't been able to play the Sims 2, and I figured out it was because my video card wasn't
supported. So I went out and picked up a cheap GeForce FX 5200 ($50) and installed it in my
computer. Well as soon as I turned my computer on, everything was normal. But I noticed the
resolution was huge when it got to my desktop and when I went into Display Properties, it was the

Problem With My Monitor
(5) I was wondering if someone might know what my problem might be. I have an LCD Monitor and I had it
for about 3 years. I'm having some weird problem with it. Whenever the monitor was off and I
turn it on with the power button, the green light on the power button starts blinking on and off for

Double Monitor Question
^^ (15) Alright, I got 2 monitors currently and I found that my brother left his old graphics card at my
house. I was wondering if I would be able to run dual monitors with this. I don't know like
anything about running dual monitors. Do you just need 2 monitors and 2 graphic cards? If thats
the case, my current graphics card is a 32mb geforce2. My brothers old one I believe is some 16mb

Ghosting Effect On Monitor?
(10) Hi I currently have a view sonic 17 inch that ive had for about the last three years.... Well Lately
ive been wanting to get a new nice flat panel LCD. I also mainly play the RTS game starcraft but
would like to play perhaps newer games like Halflife 2. Any way i was telling my freind about this
and he said unless i got a very highend Flat pannel LCD (400+ dollars) I would have bad what he
called Ghosting effects while playing new fps's? what is this ? is it true and how much would it

Monitor Colour Problem?
Need Help! (12) I have a problem regardinig my computer. My computer is just 8 months old. Recently I have shifted
it from one room to the other in my home. After shifting it I have seen a problem in it. Sometime
there are rainbow like colours in the four corners of Monitor. These are not permanent. Sometimes
these are very light , sometimes very dark and sometimes they are not at all. What can be the
problem?? In the previous room the UPS was under the computer table but now it is on the table. Can
it be the problem??? Please help if anyone can. Thanks in advance.....
