| | Okay, so I realized that I'm addicted to painkillers.
I keep being told to stop taking painkillers unless i really need them.
Every time i take more than 6 or 7, but the most I've ever gone is 10. i only took them for five days. Today makes it seven since i started again the night before today.
I just want to know if anyone knows what those painkillers can do to your body because when i take them/stop taking them i get shots of pain in my stomach and they come and go and hurt so bad. I lost interest in a lot of the foods i use to eat, and sometimes i feel like throwing up when I'm eating something which usually only occurs when i eat breakfast. When i stopped taking the painkillers, i got horrible cravings and somewhat anxious. Anyone have any idea what is going on? |

There are many website that talk about painkiller addiction, here is one. Link: http://www.opiates.com/prescription-painki...-addiction.htmlaccording to the site, the more painkillers you take, the more pain you feel if you don't continue taking them. always read the label on the painkiller box, can, etc. It should tell you side effects. What painkiller are you using?

It's best for you to ask your doctor, I'm not an expert on this subject, but, it may not be from the painkillers. FROM http://www.naturalessentials.com/motrin.htmQUOTE More common motrin side effects may include: Abdominal cramps or pain, abdominal discomfort, bloating and gas, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, fluid retention and swelling, headache, heartburn, indigestion, itching, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, rash, ringing in ears, stomach pain, vomiting
Less common or rare motrin side effects may include: Abdominal bleeding, anemia, black stool, blood in urine, blurred vision, changes in heatbeat, chills, confusion, congestive heart failure, eepression, dry eyes and mouth, emotional volatitity, fever, hair loss, hearing loss, hepatitis, high or low blood pressure, hives, inability to sleep, inflammation of nose, inflammation of the pancreas or stomach, kidney or liver failure, servere allergic reactions, shortness of breath, skin eruptions or peeling, sleepiness, stomach or upper intestinal ulcer, ulcer of gums, vision loss, vomiting blood, wheezing, yellow eyes and skin. Looks like it may be a side effect, on the more common side effects, it include abdominal cramps and pain.

Painkillers, such as Nurofen are extremely bad for your lungs and should olnly be taken when necessary. It can cause severe damage to several other areas and shorten your life dramatically. I suggest you get off them.

Drug like aspirin may lead to stomach problem such ulcer and gastitis. But aspirin like drugs don't cause physical addiction. Probably these drugs may lead to psychological addiction, because they build drug addicting behavior. If you have problem with your stomach, you have to be examened by gastroscopy. You may aggravate ulce or gastritis run using aspirin like drug. Another type of painkiller is drug influencing on morphine receptor such as tramadol. These are RX drug. These drug may lead to psychological addiction as well as physical addiction. Nobody have to use them for a long time. Pay attention to the reason of the pain, because pain is a sign of disease and pathology.

Well, what you are doing, is creating an addictive habit. You are just using a mechanism like taking 'painkillers' to attack attention for whatever needs you feel you are lacking. Tylenol, Advil, Motrin are not "painkillers." They are pain relievers. If anything they are a low grade over the counter legal by the bottle sugar pill. You are looking for an idea of what would make you special by destroying anything you think you might have for a chance of attention. It's a simple case of you having a lack of personal focus and direction in life. I would bet that you are 'original' and have an 'abusive' or 'messed up' family life. When in all reality you just don't care to deal with any real issues in your life like what is more important to you, drawing or coding. The worst part about this type of cry for help is that it is pathetic. You want us to know, why? Why would you want us to know over a forum that you are taking to many headache pills? Do you have a really bad headache? Perhaps you have bad osteoarthritis? I know, just like you know, that you are aware of what you are doing. I don't care if you take them or not, but you are not addicted. You want to be addicted. You want to be addicted. You want attention and do something impulsively that has the possibility to be addictive. However, it's not addictive as it isn't an addictive substance, and you are using a white bottled headache pill as the substance. If you really want to find out about addiction to pain killers, and are able to go out into the world alone and be responsible, look up Narcotics Anonymous, or AA or your local Rehabilitation center and talk to them about volunteering. You could even talk to your guidance counselors or teachers about what type of credits you could get for doing this. Benefit from learning about something that is real, rather than trying to exploit yourself for attention and make the world try to care about you. Try caring about the world for once. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying I hate you. I just think what you are doing is wrong, and you can act better than that. (:

Well honestly I a have never heard of anyone being addicted to Advil, Motrin or Tylenol. Too much of these meds will not get you high but can seriously mess up your liver and kidneys. Tylenol is an analgelsic pain reliever. This type of medication does not rid pain. It only covers the synapses in the brain to dull the pain message. Advil and Motrin are anti-inflammatories. These guys also don't rid you of pain, however they do help with any inflammation problems. If you are taking more than the recommended dose then you are doing damage to your stomach lining, kidneys and liver. However you are not creating an addiction. Addictive medications are the ones your doctor prescribes. Those meds have narcotics in them ( such as Vicodin/Hydrocodone, Percocet/Oxycodone, Tylenol WITH Codeine). THOSE meds don't just coat brain parts, they ADHERE and enough of those over a long enough time could cause an addiction. Both mentally and physically. If you are concerned about your pain ( and that is why you are taking too much) then talk to your doctor about a different medicine regiment. Tylenol and other OTC's ( Over The Counter) do not have any withdrawal symptoms that I am aware of. I am sure if they did they would be regulated through a doctor's prescription pad.

Being addicted or not, taking that many pills can't be good for a person. I think that's why they say the limit on the box. I'm not really sure what the limit is, but I know it's not as high as you say you are taking. My advice... find out why you are taking all these pills. Are you in pain? Are you crying out for attention? Do you just think that moving the focus to the pills you can forget about other bad things that are going on in your life? What is it that is wrong that you are trying to use the pills to cure? Find the route of the problem, and try to figure out another way to deal with it. If it really is pain, and it takes that many for you to feel alright, then it's time to go to the doctors and get some real pain medication. This way, it won't be harming you to be taking too many at a time like you are now. But if you do go that route, you'll really need to be sure not to take them more than prescribed, because I'm guessing that is a lot more serious of a thing if you are using stronger medicine. You say you are feeling stomach pain. That's probably from all the pills, but seeing a doctor would be the best way to make sure. If you are having other issues in your life, and the pills seem like a nice distraction from that, then maybe you'll have to confront whatever that problem is. Talk to someone about it... a friend, a family member, even a school councilor or some other type or person that could help you deal with this. There are people and places that can help you, but you have to figure out what your real problem is before you can get help. If you problem is pain... see a doctor, if your problem is psychological... see a psychologist, if your problem is addiction... see an addiction specialist. Find your problem, and get some help, because you are probably doing yourself more harm than good by taking so many pills.

Sorts of addiction (16) When people talk about some kind of addiction they usually connect it with the drug abuse or drug
habit (cocaine, marihuana, ecstasy etc.) but I think that every thing that is consumed in high

use so we can say it's addiction. I'll give you an example with one of my friends that has
addiction to Coca-Cola. He always come to work with at least 1 bottle of 500ml, but often he can be
seen with 2 litres bottle. He drinks Cola all the day, in work, in the café or just ....

Addiction To The Computer

the computer for about a day or week I feel like i'm gonna die or something. The only time I

Prescription Drugs
Beating addiction to prescription drugs (2) You could (and once upon a time I did) say just don't get on them, but maybe you didn't
break your sternum while you were trying to heal from four broken vertebrae. I was in the hospital a
very long time, and while I was there they gave me Dilaudid, which is stronger than morphine, which
is stronger than any heroin you'd find on the street. I was very worried because in my job I
meet people who got addicted to these medicines and ended up buying them on the street, losing their
jobs, etc. People I worked with lost their jobs because of it. Until this year, I....

Addiction To Games
(33) So I was watching the News the other day, which is slightly unusual to me when a Report came up on
Video Game Addictions. I thought this was sort of weird, because Video games don't contain
nicotine, or an addictive substance, at least I hope, but further on the Report started to make more
sense. It explained Video Games cause a psychological addiction ,and the addiction occurs because of
the experience, and the good feeling you get from playing them. I am a gamer myself and never
realized the addiction, so this Report sort of scarred me a bit. Now that I look back o....
Caffeine Addiction
Is Caffeine Really A Drug? (29) As many of you may have heard, caffeine can be considered a drug to some. What are your opinions on
this subject? Obviously, like any drug, caffeine can affect some, while others can be unaffected.
For example, I drink soda, usually two cans a day. Now, I have gone sometimes a week or two without
soda though, clearly stating it has no control over me, but I have heard it can affect others in
strange ways. For some caffeine consumers, if they go too long with it, they will get headaches,
nausea, etc. But I rarely see this is people. This is most people's defens....
