| | What is Overclocking
Overclocking when done right will Increases your PC's performance by large amount. It can take a $150 chip and give it the same speed as a $300+ chip. Also many pre-made computer such as Dell,HP,GateWay and many other do not let you overclock.
Some Rules
Don't overclock unless you accept that you may damage your equipment.
Always take small steps when increasing voltages, bus speeds and multipliers.
Never change BIOS settings if you're unsure of the results or what function they perform.
Never assume that you'll get the same speeds as someone else, there can be many reasons why you won't.
Remember just because it boots and runs for a while doesn't mean your system is safe or completely stable. |

If you're talking about the clock multiplier you're correct for certain, but there's no way a hardware manufacturer can actually stop you from overclocking, you'd need the literal black box with some explosives. I read overclocking guide if I'm right. Do you know how to play with FSB by any chance? I've been looking for that for the longest time.

errrrr dude? i dont see a guide... i just see wut overlocking is...and wut u should take caution with... but no guide on how to overlock?

Steps to follow to fit the frequencies by means of the BIOS: 1) Start or to reinitiate the computer and during the phase of verification of memory, hard disk detection and CPU we will press the key Of when it appears in the left inferior part the message "Press Of to to enter SETUP". 2) Within the blue screen of the Setup of the computer (Bios) we will move on the option Bios Features Setup, CPU Menu Soft or similar and will press Enter. 3) Modificaremos the option CPU Host Bus Frequency, Ext. Clock (PCI) or similar with AvPág until looking for the speed of the bus of the wished motherboard (for example 112Mhz for processors whose bus works normally to 100Mhz). 4) In the section CPU Core: Bus Freq.Múltiple, Multiplier factor or similar we will modify the value of the multiplier of the CPU (that can vary from 2.0x to the 8). 5) Exit the Bios keeping them change, for which we will press the function key F10 and responding to message SAVE to CMOS and EXIT (Y/N)? with and. ok, I know that I have quite a number of real crazy overclockings before. like clocking a 2.4GHz

I overclocked my CPU, from 2.0 to 2.6 GHz... I have a 300W power supply, that works pretty well, it
even compensates for some short power glitches... Now, to the core of the problem... My CPU
multiplier is fixed to 20 (it's a Celeron processor), and I raised my FSB from 100, to 130... I
have two HDD's, and a combo optical drive... I have added a small fan on my GFX card, and added
4 more fans inside a case, to cool the machine... Now, if I raise FSB speed to 135 or above, if some
heavy CPU usage is required, my second HDD will shut down, and in most cases, eve...

it can go much higher..but i have to buy better cooling and a better RAM (this one stinks..

Overclocking On A Laptop?

I've got a Presario 2568 with a Radeon 9200 shared graphics card. now in the BIOS it says i can
set the card to 128MB, but the manual and tech support say that that is not an option. as far as
tehy're concerned , it isn't a bios option. but since it is, i would like to know whether or
not it would do any good to set it at 128 instead of the default 64. would that count as
overclocking, and overheat the chip? or would it simply be a waste of 64 mb memory?...

ive realised that i could overclock my computer my more than 400 mhz which save me like $600
instead of buying the latest release of cpu that people have dreamt about.... but buying a few fans
and a few tips and tools from people ive manage to clock my comp faster and the the performance is
obvious. the danger of overclocking is present but speding about $50 is worthwhile to get the
best outta your comp...
