Um, wait I'll just get out my PC Authority magazine ... ... ... ok got it. I found this program called Serif WebPlus 10 PC Authority gave it 4 stars general. Its AU$112 For the full version, and AU$93 for upgrade, so go to www.serif.com to buy it. Looks kinda like frontpage but got better controls

For free stuff, apparently, ther is NVu, available as well as Amaya, but neither admittedly can compare very well to Dreamweaver (unsuprisingly) Unfortunately Openoffice has nowhere near enough functionality to replace Dreamweaver, (but you do not appear to want a seriously good replacement since Frontpage is hardly the best web editing software on the market!! :-p) But you still can't complain about openoffice: for most people it is as good as microsoft office, because people never use any extra features that microsoft office has! And it is free!

UPDATED OPEN OFFICE 2.3 NOW AVAILABLE Open Office has just released the newest version. OOo 2.3 is ready for download as a recommended upgrade. Their server and Wiki is really busy right now or I would post up the new features and everything, but I will watch for the server to slow down and post them back here. Just reviewed this topic, and it seems the Open Office is updated about every 6 months. Good software and you sure can't beat the price...

Oh, Open Office is practical to use now? Sweet! I used to use Abiword when it was the only program in OpenOffice and it was like v0.7 or something. It was usable, but MS Word was still better.

 This software is at a descent standard, its usable but not the best. The layouts could be better and much more creative, but owel :-)

Excellent Office Suite. I'm a college student also, and I can't afford the high cost of the MS Office suite. Not to mention that Microsoft Office likes to bloat everything. I think Open Office is around 300-350mb installed and Microsoft Office is double that. Also another great thing I love about Open Office is the plug-ins. They have a plug-in for everything! I use Zotero a lot in my FireFox, and they have a plug-in for Open Office that allows you to import your research into Open Office. Makes writing research papers so much easier.

That sounds like just what I need, especially since my new laptop came with none of that installed. I guess Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to charge for everything now since Mr. Gates is so hard up for cash. Can anyone tell me how long it will take to download this on DSL? I assume the download site explains about setting it up and such? Thanks.
