| | I am planning on upgrading my computer soon and am going to pickup an 8800 when I do. I will post my results and FPS counts in various different games once I gather the money up to start my project. I have heard they are pretty nice, but I wanna see for myself. I am also hearing that ATI's new card might be better, but again, I am not really sure. |

I don't have one, way too expensive for my tastes, but I have researched it a lot. It's supposed to be really awesome. Near impossible to slow it down. Still, unless you need to have the best hardware available, I'd give some time before buying. It's so expensive primarily because it's the first wave of DirectX 10. DX10 cards will get cheaper soon. At the moment, you can't get a DX10 card under $250+. I don't need the kind of power the 8800 has, so I'm just waiting for a cheaper DX10 supporting card. If you have a use for the massive power, then by all means, go for it. You won't be disappointed.

They are definately worth it. Even if you aren't into gaming, they will perform great for video editing or photo editing. If you are into PC gaming though, these cards are for sure worth the price. Especially now, since they have already come down in price from the 700-800 dollar release price. For DX10, like Silivar stated, the 8800 series is your only option. Check out Plug Computers for deals on Geforce 8800 based systems.

Have fun paying 600 bucks for a video card. I'd never pay that much, regardless of what level of games I could be playing.

I hadn't been able to play the Sims 2, and I figured out it was because my video card wasn't
supported. So I went out and picked up a cheap GeForce FX 5200 ($50) and installed it in my
computer. Well as soon as I turned my computer on, everything was normal. But I noticed the
resolution was huge when it got to my desktop and when I went into Display Properties, it was the
only resolution setting there. So I figured I'd install the video card drivers that came on the
software CD. After that it prompted me to restart my computer, and when I did, everything...

So, what're your thoughts after seeing it in action in some form or fashion? NVIDIA has showcase
at http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce8.html , though I'm wondering why they haven't
released any tech demos for at least the basic stuff you can do (or at least for those with Windows
Vista RC1/2). The thing that trips me out the most is the water effect (the DX10 geometry shader).
The Quantum Effects technology I'd have to see in another form or fashion. But geez, the 8800
kind of creates a whole new ball park of terms we have to know. Instead of pipeline...

Nvidia Nforce 4 Sli X16

After Nvidia made nForce 4 chip for AMD A64 processors and later nForce 4 Intel Edition, which
serves to run Intel processors, they decided for the first major upgrade of this chipset. nVidia
gained the most with SLI graphic cards and went a big step ahead of Canadian ATI in the graphic-car
battle. The only bad isde of SLI was, that for its usage PCI Express X16 had to be divided to two
sides which than worked only with half-speed (2X8). And this is exactly what nVidia wanted to
change. The new nForce 4 SLI 16X is about to have two PCI Express bridges with full speed (...
